METHODS:Cell viability was evaluated by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl) -2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay.Apoptotic cells were detected by flow cytometric analysis and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling assay.Western blotting and immuno-precipitation were used to examine protein expression and recruitment, respectively.Nuclear factorκB(NFκB) binding activities were investigated using electrophoretic mobility shift assay.Nude mice were used to investigate tumor growth. RESULTS:Treatment with combined oxaliplatin and LY294002 resulted in increased cell growth inhibi-tion and cell apoptosis in vitro, and increased tumor growth inhibition and cell death in the tumor mass in vivo.In MKN45 and AGS cells, oxaliplatin treatment promoted both protein kinase B(Akt) and NFκB activation, while pretreatment with LY294002 significantly attenuated oxaliplatin-induced Akt activity and NFκB binding.LY294002 promoted oxaliplatin-induced Fas ligand(FasL) expression,Fas-associated death domain protein recruitment,caspase-8,Bid,and caspase-3 activation, and the short form of cellular caspase-8/FLICEinhibitory protein(c-FLIPS) inhibition. In vivo,LY294002 inhibited oxaliplatin-induced activation of Akt and NFκB,and increased oxaliplatin-induced expression of FasL,inhibition of c-FLIPS,and activation of caspase-8,Bid,and caspase-3. CONCLUSION:Combination of oxaliplatin and LY294002 was therapeutically promising for gastric cancer treatment. The enhanced sensitivity of the combined treatment was associated with the activation of the death receptor pathway.展开更多

She develops multilayered meanings of the house in terms of psychological, spiritual, and sensory influences on both her private and communal life. She deploys sensory signiflers to portray religious and spiritual memories in a picturesque or performative way. The book reveals that the primacy of the senses as a perceptual device transforms the habitual religious rituals of popular Catholicism into the unconscious. This book shows how sensory perception is engaged in appropriating mystical space/time and interiorizing spiritual objects of family life. Thus, the paper investigates how the sensory agencies contribute to exploring culturally plural ways of experiencing the divine. It also illustrates how Mora's deployment of corporeality is related to her reassessment of femaleness and understanding of a meaning of the divine, which is distinctively embodied through 1o cotidiano. In effect, it focuses on Mora's treatment of the sensible body in connection with spiritual and religious connotations.展开更多

But also this is a country where women are considered impure for ritual purposes, not allowed even to come too close to the shrines or conduct liturgy; where participation in main shrine rituals or slaughter of sacrifice was and is strictly forbidden. However, there are remarkable exceptions that are shown in the article. Women's shrines are found almost in all regions of Georgia, but according to our field works and other ethnographic data their presence is remarkably obvious in Khevi, mountainous region of East Georgia. The study of the subject brought us to a conclusion that women in Khevi might have more rights in conducting religious rituals at shrines than in other Eastern Georgia's highland regions. It may be conditioned by St. Ninos's strong connection with the region.展开更多
