Methods: In this study, we systematically performedthe screening of randomized controlled trials from Cochrane Library, Pubmed, Embase, Medline, and Web of Science. The data were extracted by two reviewers independently, and then risk assessment was performed. All the analyses wereconducted using Review Manager 5.3. Results: A total of 18 eligible studies containing 1312 patients were included.Experimental group were treated with TCM combined with Western medicine or TCM alone (N = 688) and controlgroup were treated with Western medicine treatment alone (N = 624). The results showed that the recent clinicalefficiency between the two groups was not statistically significant (P = 0.06). KPS scores of the experimental group werehigher than those in the control group [P 〈 0.001, WMD = 9.60, 95%CI = (5.62, 13.57)]. The toxicity comparisonshowed that the occurrence of toxicities, such as leucopenia, thrombocytopenia, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, andneurotoxicity in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group [P 〈 0.001, OR = 0.31, 95%CI = (0.19,0.50)], [P = 0.003, OR = 0.49, 95%CI = (0.31, 0.78)], [P 〈 0.001, OR = 0.30, 95%CI = (0.16, 0.54)], [P 〈 0.001, OR =0.40, 95%CI = (0.27, 0.58)], and [P 〈 0.001, OR = 0.43, 95%CI = (0.30, 0.61)]. The immunological test comparisondemonstrated that the immunological parameters (CD3, CD4, and CD4/CD8) showed higher values in the experimentalgroup than those in the control group [P 〈 0.001, MD = 5.55, 95%CI = (4.83, 6.28)], [P 〈 0.0001, MD = 6.75, 95%CI =(5.25, 8.26)], and [P = 0.001, MD = 0.26, 95%CI = (0.10, 0.41)]. Conclusions: TCM did not show significant recentclinical efficiency. However, treatment with TCM showed increase in KPS scores in patients with colorectal cancer, alleviation of toxicity associated with chemotherapy, regulation of autoimmunity, and improvement in the quality of lifeof patients.展开更多

Methods This was a correlation descriptive study conducted at a 650-bed sub-acute hospital. Patients who were aged 65 or over, diagnosed with HF of New York Heart Association Class III or IV symptoms, and mentally sound were eligible to the study. The Edmonton Symptom Assessment Scale, the overall quality of life single item scale, and the McQill Quality of Life Questionnaire (MQoL), were used for measurement. Multi- ple regression analysis was performed to determine factors for predicting quality of life. Results A convenience sample of 112 patients was recruited. Their age was 81.5 ± 8.5 years. The three most distressing symptoms reported by the patients were tiredness (5.96 ± 2.78), drowsiness (5.47± 2.93), and shortness of breath (5.34 ± 2.96). Their mean overall quality of life single item scale score was 4.72 ± 2.06 out of 10. The mean MQoL physical subscale score was the lowest (4.20 ± 1.767), whereas their mean psychological subscale was the highest (7.14 ±2.39). However, in a multivariate analysis model, quality of life was significantly associated with existential wellbeing, physical wellbeing, psychological wellbeing and educational level. Conclusions The findings highlight that spiritual concerns are significant palliative care needs among elderly patients with advanced HF, in addition to symptom management. This is in line with the argument that palliative care that places great emphasis on holistic care should be integrated to the care of this group of patients.展开更多

Thisconcept analysis will inform healthcare professionals of promoting nursing care for head and neck cancer survivors andeventually improve their quality of life. Method: Concept analysis based on Walker and Avant’s framework. Results:Quality of life is a subjective and personally derived cognitive evaluation of global well-being by perceiving a feeling ofoverall life satisfaction in his/her own value, happiness, and the independence to manage daily activities and lifeexperience. Three defining attributes for quality of life were identified: a feeling of overall life satisfaction in his/hervalue, global personal well-being, and independence. An improvement of quality of life means an improvement ofclinical outcome. However, the variety of instruments for measuring life quality makes it difficult for healthcareprofessionals to select a standard one for head and neck cancer survivors. Conclusion: By proposing a comprehensivedefinition of the concept, this analysis contributes to the advancement of knowledge about quality of life in the context ofhead and neck cancer survivorship. Through a sound understanding of the phenomenon, healthcare professions willrecognize or measure head and neck cancer survivors’ life conditions in a more accurate way and to implementintervention where necessary, eventually, improve patients’ life quality in survivorship.展开更多

This paper presents optimization methods for plant landscape design that take account of results of comparisons of noise reduction effects, heat island temperature decreases and effects on ventilation. These methods are based on different plant configurations and various luminous environments, such as exterior sunshine and shaded areas after the simulation of exterior luminous, acoustic and thermal environments of a residential area using the analytic software ECOTECT, CADNA/A, and PHEONICS. Three different types of residential buildings are simulated including a faculty apartment in the Xixi Campus of Zhejiang University, the Huaqing Villa and the Gangwan Jiayuan faculty apartment of Zhejiang University, China, based on green building design theory. In addition, the methods and process flow of landscape design of green residential areas are also described for the improvement of the exterior physical living environment.展开更多
