This necessitates additional work to grade the seed stock and lengthens the production period. We evaluated the influence of three culture methods (free-mixed, isolated-mixed, isolated-alone) on individual variation in growth and assessed the relationship between feeding, energy conversion efficiency, and individual growth variation in individually cultured sea cucumbers. Of the different culture methods, animals grew best when reared in the isolated-mixed treatment (i.e., size classes were held separately), though there was no difference in individual variation in growth between rearing treatment groups. The individual variation in growth was primarily attributed to genetic factors. The difference in food conversion efficiency caused by genetic differences among individuals was thought to be the origin of the variance. The level of individual growth variation may be altered by interactions among individuals and environmental heterogeneity. Our results suggest that, in addition to traditional seed grading, design of a new kind of substrate that changes the spatial distribution of sea cucumbers would effectively enhance growth and reduce individual variation in growth of sea cucumbers in culture.展开更多

On the basis of an overlapping generation(OLG) model, this paper introduces the health effects of environmental pollution to systematically discuss the optimal distribution ratio of energy tax revenues in subsidizing household income and emission abatement under given tax rates to reduce the risks of "environment-health-poverty" trap. Our research shows that an optimal distribution ratio for maximizing per capita output or an optimal distribution ratio for maximizing public welfare exists. Based on China's actual parameters, however, this study has found that China's energy tax revenue distribution policy hardly meets the two optimal targets at the same time. Specific distribution ratio is subject to government decision-making preference, and needs to be adjusted according to actual differences.展开更多

Several studies were made to grow runner beans extensively without trellis support, like common beans are grown. Three runner bean ecotypes were evaluated, with and without trellis support. Although the highest yield was obtained with trellis support, significant yields were obtained without trellis. Thus, this specie can be established without support like the common bean, allowing a great economic advantage especially at large scale plantings. The ecotype named "Quilapallar" was selected by its white and large grains and excellent cooking quality. Then, seed rates and dry grain yield were compared with commercial varieties of common bean. There was not statistical difference in yield among row distances, except when this was 25 cm apart. Besides, there was not statistical difference among Quilapallar and Torcaza INIA, although the later is a common bean variety with a high yield potential.展开更多
