Objective: It has been recommended that age-related centile curves of anthropometric indexes(such as height, weight) be used rountinly to evaluate the growth and development statues in children. Presented here is the ...Objective: It has been recommended that age-related centile curves of anthropometric indexes(such as height, weight) be used rountinly to evaluate the growth and development statues in children. Presented here is the age-related height centile curves for children aged 0-18 years in Shaanxi, China,1995. Methods: Data of the Shaanxi population were retrieved from The Third Nationwide Growth Survey to construct the age-related height centile curves. The LMS method was used for curve fitting; all analyses were carried out on the basis of different sexes through a special program for LMS(λ-median-coefficient) method which was devised by Cole TJ. Results: Centile curves for boys and girls, showing similar age-related features but girls'puberty coming two years earlier than boys'. The period of puberty growth increment was about 2 years longer for boys. At age 18, boys were taller than girls for about 14 cm. Compared with height standard of NCHS(national center of health statistics), Shaanxi children were taller than American children before 14 years for boys, 12 years for girls, but after 15 years for boys and 13 years for girls, Shaanxi children were shorter than American ones. At age 18, Shaanxi children was 5.6 cm for boys and 4.9 cm for girls shorter than NCHS. Shaanxi children's height increase range from 1958 to 1995 at the same age was 4.9-15.1 cm ,with the mean of 9.59 cm for boys, and 3.7-12.5 cm, with the mean of 8.38 cm for girls. Between 1958-1995, the increasing velocity every ten years were 2.57 cm for boys and 2.26 cm for girls, which indicated that the children have reached the optimum. Conclusion: By means of LMS method, we constructed age-related height centile curves for Shaanxi children aged 0-18 years, these height centile curves are the first one for the Chinese children. It can be used as a reference for assessing growth and development status of Shaanxi children aged 0-18 years.展开更多

The aim of this work was to verify if the wheat susceptibility/tolerance phenotype to Fusarium head blight (FHB) into the field could be related to the ability of the re-activated seeds to hamper deoxynivalenol (DO...The aim of this work was to verify if the wheat susceptibility/tolerance phenotype to Fusarium head blight (FHB) into the field could be related to the ability of the re-activated seeds to hamper deoxynivalenol (DON) synthesis by Fusarium graminearum into non optimal (i.e. high humidity) storage conditions. On this purpose, two Fusariurn graminearum strains, Fg126 and Fg8308, were separately inoculated on active but not germinating kernels of Triticum aestivum L. cv "Sagittario" (FHB-susceptible) and cv "Blasco" (FHB-tolerant), The growth of the fungal strains on wheat kernels was monitored from 0 to 15 days post inoculation through a quantitative SYBR green real-time PCR, as well as ergosterol content through HPLC for comparison. DON biosynthesis into the contaminated wheat seeds was quantified by HPLC method in the same time intervals as above. Significant differences in the ability to grow and synthesize DON, acetylated and glucosylated forms, emerged between the strains also in relation to the wheat variety on which the pathogen developed. The results obtained indicated that the wheat variety which from the epidemiological studies carried out into the field is FHB-tolerant, i.e. Blasco, resulted as the more efficient in hampering DON synthesis in both F. graminearum strains. Thus, this preliminary study could represent a contribution to find out less time consuming methods for screening the wheat varieties tolerant to DON accumulation in non optimal storage conditions.展开更多

A place that is good to live in, means that it is good to inhabit, work at, study invest, and visit. Therefore, public policies makers should think about the role of city administration in order to provide a good environment for entrepreneurship and corporate sustainable development. Territories, regions, cities and firms, must know their capabilities and competencies and define a common vision of the future, taking into account the present and the context in which they operate. Being defined as the strategy based on the principles of collective efficiency and market orientation, the successful implementation of activities requires "an operational framework for monitoring, supported by mechanisms of interdepartmental cooperation, and performance measurement procedures based on indicators and monitoring progress" (ENDS-2015, 2007). This paper discusses the implementation of place marketing strategies and adoption, by the city governance, of the best practices of business management such as: balanced score card methodologies, leading to the enhancing of the wellness produced by cities; promoting productivity, innovation and rational use of resources; and developing competences and expertise in order to strength their competitive advantages and achieve the desired sustainable development.展开更多

The effective experimental me- thod was first proposed by Jackson and Hunt in 1965. The transparent model materials for solidification researches are a kind of non-faceted crystals known as "plastic crystals" or "globular molecules", which have very low entropy of melting as that of metals. According to Jackson's theory proposed in 1958, entropy of phase transformation will determine whether the phase interface morphology is smooth or rough in atomic scale, which will lead to faceted or nonfacted phase interface in mi- croscopic and macroscopic scales. Succinonitrile (SCN) and its alloys with water, ethanol, acetone, and NH4C1-H:O solution are most commonly used as transparent model materials for solidification researches of dendritic growth, anisotropy of solid-liquid interfacial energy, crystal nucleation, crystal grain formation, directional solidification, eutectic and peritectic so- lidification, solidification defects formation such as bubble, hot tearing, etc. Among these researches, the most impressive work was the critical test of dendritic growth theories with high purity succinonitrile by Glicksman et al., which gave positive answer to the Ivantsov's analysis and negative answer to the ad hoc condition of the maximum velocity hypothesis. The future researches with transparent model materials could be suggested in three aspects: 1) accurate measurement of material proper- ties and alloy phase diagrams in more plastic crystals, especially to find more transparent eutectic and peritectic alloys; 2) accurate measurement of the grain boundary groove shape to obtain precise data of the anisotropy parameters of the interfacial free energy in transparent model materials; 3) to get clear pictures of solidification processes with morphology details in a rela- tively large area, with continuous movement of liquid and particles, in order to give experimental support to numerical simula- tions aimming at accurate description of microstructure formation during solidification of multicomponent alloys under complex conditions of real casting and welding processes.展开更多
