Users can enjoy convenience by sending queries to LBS servers and obtaining se...With the rapid development of location-aware devices such as smart phones,Location-Based Services(LBSs) are becoming increasingly popular. Users can enjoy convenience by sending queries to LBS servers and obtaining service information that is nearby.However, these queries may leak the users' locations and interests to the un-trusted LBS servers, leading to serious privacy concerns. In this paper, we propose a Privacy-Preserving Pseudo-Location Updating System(3PLUS) to achieve k-anonymity for mobile users using LBSs. In 3PLUS, without relying on a third party, each user keeps pseudo-locations obtained from both the history locations and the encountered users, and randomly exchanges one of them with others when encounters occur. As a result, each user's buffer is disordered. A user can obtain any k locations from the buffer to achieve k-anonymity locally. The security analysis shows the security properties and our evaluation results indicate that the user's privacy is significantly improved.展开更多
Local community participation in forest management is pivotal since they are familiar with the forest environment.In the successful management of community forestry(CF),both males and females along with the representa...Local community participation in forest management is pivotal since they are familiar with the forest environment.In the successful management of community forestry(CF),both males and females along with the representation of poor and disadvantaged groups are of vital importance.This research compares the users’perception in community forest management(CFM)activities,and socio-economic variables influencing participation in studied community forestry user groups(CFUGs).Primary data were collected through reconnaissance surveys,interviewing key informants,focus group discussions,and household surveys.Secondary data were collected from the division forest office,CFUGs’operational plan(OP)and Constitution,internet,and authenticated websites.The chi-square(χ^(2))test was applied to test separately association variables like gender,caste,age class,education level,and wealth ranking with participation.Using ordered logit regression,the variables affecting participation in OP and constitution-making,Silvicultural activities,Forest products collection,and CF fund mobilization were quantified.Gender and Education were found to be the most promising factor influencing participation in Jagriti CFUG and Jhankrikhola CFUG respectively.In general,higher caste,older age,and rich people dominate the major decision-making activities.However,lower caste and poor people have been involved comparatively more in Forest product collection.展开更多
In an object-based storage system,a novel scheme named EAP(extending attributes page) is presented to enhance the metadata reliability of the system by adding the user object file information attributes page for each ...In an object-based storage system,a novel scheme named EAP(extending attributes page) is presented to enhance the metadata reliability of the system by adding the user object file information attributes page for each user object and storing the file-related attributes of each user object in object-based storage devices.The EAP scheme requires no additional hardware equipments compared to a general method which uses backup metadata servers to improve the metadata reliability.Leveraging a Markov chain,this paper compares the metadata reliability of the system using the EAP scheme with that using only metadata servers to offer the file metadata service.Our results demonstrate that the EAP scheme can dramatically enhance the reliability of storage system metadata.展开更多
