Current study proposes the entransy of evaporators to conduct the optimization of heat exchangers in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems. A novel finless bare tube heat exchanger was studied using a validated heat exchanger modeling tool. The capacity based optimization and entransy dissipation based thermal resistance were used and compared. The applicability of using entransy dissipation based thermal resistance in this type of heat exchanger optimization has been discussed. It has been demonstrated that minimizing entransy dissipation and maximizing capacity are equivalent to optimizing evaporators with fixed flow rates and different when optimizing evaporators with variable flow rates and the deviation is negligible when heat exchanger capacity is small(~1 k W) and more obvious as heat exchanger capacity increases. Thus entransy dissipation based thermal resistance could be used as an alternative optimization index to capacity for evaporators with fixed flow rate and small capacity evaporators with variable flow rates and should be used individually with capacity as an optimization index for evaporators with large capacity and variable flow rates.展开更多

A repulsive particle swarm optimization algorithm is used to obtain the pyrolysis-related properties. In the previous study all properties obtained only using a cone calorimeter but in this paper both the cone calorimeter and thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) are used for precisely optimizing the pyrolysis properties. In the TGA test a very small mass is heated up and conduction and heat capacity in the specimen is negligible so kinetic parameters can first be optimized. Other pyrolysis-related properties such as virgin/char specific heat and conductivity and char density are also optimized in the cone calorimeter test with the already decided parameters in the TGA test.展开更多

文摘In general, heat transfers can be classified into two categories according to the purposes of object heating or cooling and the heat to work conversion.Recently,a new physical quantity, entransy(or potential energy),was proposed to describe the ability of heat transfer with the former purpose. This paper addresses the concept of potential energy in terms of the heat transfer processes for the latter purpose, named the conversion potential energy. The physical meaning of this newly introduced concept is the potential energy for the heat to work conversion stored in the equivalent mass of heat(thermomass) derived on the basis of the Einstein's special theory of relativity. The dissipation of conversion potential energy occurs during the real irreversible heat to work conversion processes as a measure of the conversion irreversibility. Finally,a heat to work conversion problem of a heat exchanger group is provided to show that the minimum conversion potential energy dissipation rate can be used as an optimization criterion for the heat transfer performance with the purpose of the heat to work conversion.
