The navigational process creates a sequence of different operating conditions. The priority of some loads differs in changing operating conditions. After analyzing characteristics of typical SPS, a model was developed used a grade III switchboard and an environmental prioritizing agent (EPA) algorithm. This algorithm was chosen as it is logically and physically decentralized as well as multi-agent oriented. The EPA algorithm was used to decide on the dynamic load priority, then it selected the means to best meet the maximum power supply load. The simulation results showed that higher priority loads were the first to be restored. The system satisfied all necessary constraints, demonstrating the effectiveness and validity of the proposed method.展开更多

This problem is in fact a global coordination control problem which involves not only sequencing and timing different control devices but also tuning the parameters of controllers. A multi-stage coordinated control scheme is presented, aiming at retaining good voltage levels with minimal control efforts and costs after severe disturbances in power systems. A self-pattem-recognized vaccination procedure is developed to transfer effective heuristic information into the new generation of solution candidates to speed up the convergence of the search procedure to global optima. An example of four bus power system case study is investigated to show the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed algorithm, compared with several existing approaches such as differential dynamic programming and tree-search.展开更多

In order to reduce GHG emission level, most of the countries in the world targeting towards green energy that is power generation from RE (renewable energy) sources. In this paper, it is considered to study prospects of RE sources in particular, solar and wind in Victoria State which are abundant as compared to other sources of renewable. The wind and solar energy feasibility study and sensitivity analysis has been done for Victoria with the aid of HOMER (hybrid optimization model of electric renewable) simulation software. From the study, it has clearly evicted that wind energy combinational HPS (hybrid power system) has more contribution, and high potential than solar PV (photovoltaic) systems for a particular location. This study also investigates the influences of energy storage in the proposed HPS.展开更多

This harmonious coexisting link is very strong for systems in tensegrity state, commonly called "tensegrity systems". It is currently apparent that, among the tensegrity systems, there also exist cable-bar cells with a discontinuous network of cables. It is possible to design a separate set of cables inside the cable-bar elementary cell and to establish a self-stress state of equilibrium. In this connection, the author of this paper suggested to assume a new Class-Theta tensegrity systems. Each of the basic tensegrity systems termed Class-Theta possesses an external and internal set of tension components. The shape of Greek capital letter 69 (Theta) reflects two sets of such components (two sets of tendons, cables, etc.). This notation corresponds to Skelton's Class-k tensegrity structure. As shown in this paper, the Class-Theta tensegrity cell can exemplify a geometrically and practically useful form for the lightweight and long-span modular structures, mainly but not only in view of civil engineering and architecture.展开更多

The high voltage equipment and high voltage installation owners have come to terms with the need for conditions monitoring the^process of PD in the equipments such as power transformers, gas insulated substations (GIS), and cable installations. This paper reviews the available PD detection methods (involving high voltage equipment) such as electrical detection, chemical detection, acoustic detection, and optical detection. Advantages and disadvantages of each method have been explored and compared. The review suggests that optical detection techniques provide many advantages in the consideration of accuracy and suitability for the applications when compared to other techniques.展开更多
