A robust adaptive control approach is presented to improve the performance of the control scheme proposed in the authors' previous work, aiming at producing a low ripple hybrid stepping motor servo drive for precisio...A robust adaptive control approach is presented to improve the performance of the control scheme proposed in the authors' previous work, aiming at producing a low ripple hybrid stepping motor servo drive for precision profile tracking at a low speed. In order to construct a completely integrated control design philosophy to reduce torque ripple and at the same time to enhance tracking performance, the properties of nonlinear uncertainties in the system dynamics are uncovered, and then incorporated into the design of the controller. The system uncertainties concerned with ripple dynamics and other external disturbances are composed of two categories. The first category of uncertainties with linear parameterization arising from the detention effect is dealt with by the wellknown adaptive control method. A robust adaptive method is used to deal with the second category of uncertainties resulting from the non-sinusoidal flux distribution. The μ-modification scheme is used to cease parameter adaptation by the robust adaptive control law, thus ensuring that the trajectory tracking error asymptotically converges to a pre-specified boundary. Experiments are performed with a typical hybrid stepping motor to test its profile tracking accuracy. Results confirm the proposed control scheme.展开更多

The conventional travelling-wave USM needs the bearing to support, which required lubricant. To solve the above problem, a bearingless travelling-wave USM is designed. First, a novel structure of the two-sided USM consisting of a two-sided teeth stator and two disk-type rotors is designed. And the excitation principle of the two-sided travelling-wave USM is analyzed. Then, using ANSYS software, we set up the model of the stator to predict the excitation frequency and modal response of the stator. The shape of the vibration mode was obtained. Last, the load characteristics of the USM are measured using ex-perimental method. The maximum stall torque and the no-load speed were obtained. The results showed that the characteristics of the two-sided USM are better than those of the conventional one-sided USM.展开更多

Its objective consists of combining three different heuristic optimization techniques including PID-PSO, Fuzzy-PSO and GA-PSO to improve the DSIM speed controlled loop behavior. The GA and PSO algorithms are developed and implemented into MATLAB. As a result, fuzzy-PSO is the most appropriate scheme. To reduce the torsional vibration of the hybrid construction machinery complex shafting, torsional vibration active control was proposed. The three-mass model of coaxial shafting of hybrid construction machinery was established. The PID control and the fuzzy sliding mode control were chosen to weaken torsional vibration by controlling the motor speed and torque. The simulation results show that the fuzzy sliding mode control has 12% overshoot of the PID control when the engine torque changes. This paper describes the design of a direct torque control (DTC) system for speeding up torque response and reducing the starting current of electric screw presses and its application to the J58K series of numerical control electric screw presses with a dual-motor drive. The DTC drive system encompasses speed control, torque reference control, and switching frequency control. Comparison of the DTC dual-AC induction motor drive with corresponding AC servo motor drive showed that for the J58K-315 electric screw press, the DTC drive system attains a higher maximum speed (786 r/min) within a shorter time (1.13 s) during a 250 nun stroke and undergoes smaller rise in temperature (42.0 ℃) in the motor after running for 2 h at a 12 min-1 strike frequency than the AC servo motor drive does (751 r/min within 1.19 s, and 50.6 ℃ rise). Moreover, the DTC AC induction motor drive, with no need for a tachometer or position encoder to feed back the speed or position of the motor shaft, enjoys increased reliability in a strong-shock work environment.展开更多

Some experiments are carried out in order to test the movability and adaptability of the manipulator. RT1 is actuated by pulse string and acts discretely. The discrete working space of RT1 is described and the parameter optimization for kinematical redundancy resolution is studied also. The optimization criterion is altering the design parameter as little as possible during manipulator's motion from the initial position to the expected position. Unfortunately, the huge complexity keeps transcoding from being widely used in practical applications. This paper proposes an efficient transcoding architecture with a smart downscaling decoder and a fast mode decision algorithm. Using the proposed architecture, huge buffering memory space is saved and the transcoding complexity is reduced. More specifically, always keeping the same magnet volume, the effect of the open angle between the two magnet segments of each V-shape pole on the machine performance is studied. Moreover, in order to examine the impact of phase number on the machine characteristics, PRIUS structure is transformed into 5-phase machine of the same type and dimensions. As well, an optimization procedure is carried out to determine the optimal open angle according to main characteristics. The previous investigation is done by using a free FEM (finite elements methods) program coupled with another optimization program. Using this obtained methodology, the study analyzes for 3-phase and 5-phase machine the average and pulsation of torque, cogging torque, phase EMF (electro-motive force), constant power operating capability.展开更多

In this paper, the tandem impellers prepared for the counter-rotating type pumping unit were operated at the turbine mode, and the performances and the flow conditions were investigated numerically with accompanying the experimental results. Even though providing the pumping unit for the turbine mode, the maximum hydraulic efficiency is close to one of the counter-rotating type hydroelectric unit designed exclusively for the turbine mode. Besides, the runners/impellers of the unit work evidently so as to coincide the angular momentum change through the front runners/impellers with that through the rear runners/impellers, namely to take the axial flow at not only the inlet but also the outlet, without the guide vanes. From these results, it can be concluded that this type unit is effective to work at not only the pumping but also the turbine modes.展开更多

The proposed study has concerned TEFC ( totally Enclosed Fan-Cooled ), 400 V, 50 Hz, SI duty three phase squirrel-cage induction motors only. The motors' designs, with AI and Cu cage, have been optimized in order to reach the minimum efficiency level IE3 at lowest active material costs and satisfy the physical and performance constraints of the designs, which are the motor specifications. A suitable optimization procedure has been used which allowed to find the "best design" by chancing the geometric dimensions of the stator, rotor shape, the stator winding and the stack length. In order to guarantee the goodness and feasibility of the optimized designs, several constrains have been imposed.展开更多
