The model extends the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) model by adding a tag layer be- tween the document and the topic. Each document is represented by a mixture of tags; each tag is as- sociated with a multinomial distribution over topics and each topic is associated with a multinomial dis- trNution over words. After parameter estimation, the tags are used to descrNe the underlying topics. Thus the latent semantic knowledge within the top- ics could be represented explicitly. The tags are treated as concepts, and the top-N words from the top topics are selected as related words of the con- cepts. Then PMI-IR is employed to compute the re- latedness between each tag-word pair and noisy words with low correlation removed to improve the quality of the semantic knowledge. Experiment re- sults show that the proposed method can effectively capture semantic knowledge, especially the polyse- me and synonym.展开更多

The objective of the proposed method is to find the steady state operation point in ...This paper proposes an efficient method for optimal power flow solution (OPF) using particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique. The objective of the proposed method is to find the steady state operation point in a power system which minimizes the fuel cost, while maintaining an acceptable system performance in terms of limits on generator power, line flow limits and voltage limits. In order to improvise the performance of the conventional PSO (cPSO), the fine tuning parameters- the inertia weight and acceleration coefficients are formulated in terms of global-local best values of the objective function. These global-local best inertia weight (GLBestlW) and global-local best acceleration coefficient (GLBestAC) are incorporated into PSO in order to compute the optimal power flow solution. The proposed method has been tested on the standard IEEE 30 bus test system to prove its efficacy. The results are compared with those obtained through cPSO. It is observed that the proposed algorithm is computationally faster, in terms of the number of load flows executed and provides better results than the conventional heuristic techniques.展开更多

Before training a classification parameter for the SVM, several preprocessing operations were applied to the data including filtering, downsampling, single trial extraction, windsorizing, electrode selection et al. With the SVM algorithm, the classification accuracy could be up to above 80%. In some cases, the accuracy could reach 100%. It is suitable to use SVM for P300 EEG recognition in the P300-based brain-computer interface (BCI) system. Our further work will include the improvement to yield higher classification accuracy using fewer trials.展开更多

Inte...One function for approximating pulse quantities in high voltage technique is presented in this paper. The function derivative, its integral, as well as its Laplace and Fourier transform are obtained analytically. Integral transformations of the pulse function are needed in frequency domain calculations of lightning induced effects in the case of a lossy ground. The pulse function having adequately chosen parameters is applied in lightning discharge modeling for lightning electromagnetic field calculation, and the results are in agreement with the results from literature. The choice of function parameters is based on their influence on the pulse waveshape which is presented in the paper. Numerical results for the Fourier transform are presented for different usually used pulse functions. The advantages of this function are simple choice of its parameters according to the desired waveshape characteristics and analytical solutions useful in lightning discharge modeling, electromagnetic field computation and induced effects calculations.展开更多

The motor parameter design problem is converted to an optimization problem with five design parameters and six constraints. The PIO algorithm is introduced into the framework of MC for improving the global convergence performance. The hybrid algorithm can improve the population diversity with better searching efficiency. Comparative simulations are conducted, and comparative results are given to show the feasibility and effectiveness of our proposed hybrid algorithm for high nonlinear optimization problems.展开更多

After being activated at 650℃, calcium compounds of carbonate and hydroxide in the ...The catalytic performance of carbide slag in transesterification is investigated and the reaction kinetic parameters are calculated. After being activated at 650℃, calcium compounds of carbonate and hydroxide in the carbide slag are mainly transformed into calcium oxide. The activated carbide slag utilized as the transesterification catalyst is characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), nitrogen adsorption-desorption and the Hammett indicator method. Compared with the carbide slag activated at 700 and 800℃, the largest surface area of 22.63 m2g^-1, the smallest particle size of 265.12 nm and the highest catalytic efficiency of the carbide slag activated at 650℃ guarantee its capacity in catalyzing transesterification. Then, the influences of activated temperature (Ta), molar ratio of methanol to oil (γ), catalyst added amount (ζ), reaction temperature (Tr) and reaction time (τ) on the catalytic performance are investi- gated. Under the optimal transesterification condition of Ta=650℃, γ=15, ζ=3%, Tr=60℃ and τ=-110 rain, the catalytic efficiency of 92.98% can be achieved. Finally, the kinetic parameters of transesterification catalyzed by the activated carbide slag are calculated, where activation energy (E) is 68.45 kJ mol^-1 and pre-exponential factor (k0) is 1.75×10^9 min^-1. The activated carbide slag shows better reused property than calcium hydroxide.展开更多
