A mathematical model is built to calculate the transmissi...For the purpose of improving efficiency and realizing start–stop function, an electric oil pump(EOP) is integrated into an 8-speed automatic transmission(AT). A mathematical model is built to calculate the transmission power loss and the hydraulic system leakage. Based on this model, a flow-based control strategy is developed for EOP to satisfy the system flow requirement. This control strategy is verified through the forward driving simulation. The results indicate that there is a best combination for the size of mechanical oil pump(MOP) and EOP in terms of minimum energy consumption. In order to get a quick and smooth starting process, control strategies of the EOP and the on-coming clutch are proposed. The test environment on a prototype vehicle is built to verify the feasibility of the integrated EOP and its control strategies. The results show that the selected EOP can satisfy the flow requirement and a quick and smooth starting performance is achieved in the start–stop function. This research has a high value for the forward design of EOP in automatic transmissions with respect to efficiency improvement and start–stop function.展开更多
A mathematical approach was proposed to investigate the impact of high penetration of large-scale photovoltaic park(LPP) on small-signal stability of a power network and design of hybrid controller for these units.A s...A mathematical approach was proposed to investigate the impact of high penetration of large-scale photovoltaic park(LPP) on small-signal stability of a power network and design of hybrid controller for these units.A systematic procedure was performed to obtain the complete model of a multi-machine power network including LPP.For damping of oscillations focusing on inter-area oscillatory modes,a hybrid controller for LPP was proposed.The performance of the suggested controller was tested using a 16-machine 5-area network.The results indicate that the proposed hybrid controller for LPP provides sufficient damping to the low-frequency modes of power system for a wide range of operating conditions.The method presented in this work effectively indentifies the impact of increased PV penetration and its controller on dynamic performance of multi-machine power network containing LPP.Simulation results demonstrate that the model presented can be used in designing of essential controllers for LPP.展开更多

To this end, a current vector decoupling control algorithm for six-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is designed. Using the proposed synchronous rotating coordinate transformation matrix, the fundamental and harmonic components in d-q subspace are changed into direct current (DC) component, only using the traditional proportional integral (PI) controller can meet the non-static difference adjustment, and the controller parameter design method is given by employing intemal model principle. In addition, in order to remove the 5th and 7th harmonic components of stator current, the current PI controller parallel with resonant controller is employed in x-y subspace to realize the specific harmonic component compensation. The proposed concept is based on coordination between Power System Stabilizer (PSS) and Thyristor Controlled Braking Resistor (TCBR). This coordination will enhance the stability of the inertial and torsional oscillatory modes. The study is performed on system-I of the second IEEE benchmark for simulation of Sub-Synchronous Oscillations, using eigenvalue analysis and verified by detailed digital simulation. A dynamic fundamental frequency model for TCBR is developed. The pole placement technique is used to design the control system of TCBR and PSS. The shaft torque's following a disturbance is computed and analyzed. The obtained results indicate that substantial damping is achieved by the proposed coordination.展开更多

The design objectives of the overall system are to automatically find light emitting objects at night within a user specified area, to track a light emitting object for a user specified time given the initial position of the object, and to allow the user access to these functions through a graphical user interface. The embedded system is used to provide a communication link between the graphical user interface and system hardware, to provide angle data processing for a dual axis accelerometer, to provide data processing for an electronic compass, and to provide pulse outputs for the step and direction inputs of three stepper motor drives. This paper will describe the design, implementation, and results of each of these objectives.展开更多
