The rapid technological convergence between Internet of Things (loT), Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) and cloud computing has made e-healthcare emerge as a promising application domain, which has significant potential to improve the quality of medical care. In particular, patient-centric health monitoring plays a vital role in e-healthcare service, involving a set of important operations ranging from medical data collection and aggregation, data transmission and segregation, to data analytics. This survey paper firstly presents an architectural framework to describe the entire monitoring life cycle and highlight the essential service components. More detailed discussions are then devoted to {/em data collection} at patient side, which we argue that it serves as fundamental basis in achieving robust, efficient, and secure health monitoring. Subsequently, a profound discussion of the security threats targeting eHealth monitoring systems is presented, and the major limitations of the existing solutions are analyzed and extensively discussed. Finally, a set of design challenges is identified in order to achieve high quality and secure patient-centric monitoring schemes, along with some potential solutions. 展开更多

We investigate the charge transport in close-packed ultra-narrow (1.5 nm diameter) gold nanowires stabilized by oleylamine ligands. We give evidence of charging effects in the weakly coupled one-dimensional (1D) nanowires, monitored by the temperature and the bias voltage. At low temperature, in the Coulomb blockade regime, the current flow reveals an original cooperative multi-hopping process between 1D-segments of Au-NWs, minimising the charging energy cost. Above the Coulomb blockade threshold voltage and at high temperature, the charge transport evolves into a sequential tunneling regime between the nearest- nanowires. Our analysis shows that the effective length of the Au-NWs inside the bundle is similar to the 1D localisation length of the electronic wave function (of the order of 120 nm _+ 20 nm), but almost two orders of magnitude larger than the diameter of the nanowire. This result confirms the high structural quality of the Au-NW segments. 展开更多

The flux of the relativisti... On January 21, 2015, a sharp increase of the solar wind dynamic pressure impacted the magnetosphere. The magnetopause moved inward to the region L< 8 without causing a geomagnetic storm. The flux of the relativistic electrons in the outer radiation belt decreased by half during this event based on the observations of the particle radiation monitor(PRM) of the fourth of the China-Brazil Earth Resource Satellites(CBERS-4). The flux remained low for approximately 11 d; it did not recover after a small magnetic storm on January 26 but after a small magnetic storm on February 2. The loss and recovery of the relativistic electrons during this event are investigated using the PRM data, medium-and high-energy electron observations of NOAA-15 and the Van Allen Probes, medium-energy electron observations of GOES-13, and wave observations of the Van Allen Probes. This study shows that the loss of energetic electrons in this event is related to magnetospheric compression. The chorus waves accelerate the medium-energy electrons, which causes the recovery of relativistic electrons. The Van Allen Probes detected strong chorus waves in the region L =3–6 from January 21 to February 2. However, the flux of medium-energy electrons was low in the region. This implies that the long-lasting lack of recovery of the relativistic electrons after this event is due to the lack of the medium-energy"seed" electrons. The medium-energy electrons in the outer radiation belt may be a clue to predict the recovery of relativistic electrons. 展开更多

High-temperature annealing drives the diffusion of the small δ-MnO2 nanocrystallites within short distances less than 15 nm and the fusion of the adjacent δ-MnO: nanocrystallites, leading to the formation of larger crystalline domains including highly crystalline nanorods. The annealed nanoflowers remain their overall flower-like morphology while they are converted to α-MnO2. The preferred transformation of the δ-MnO2 to the α-MnO2 can be ascribed to the close lattice spacing of most crystalline lattices between δ-MnO2 and α-MnO2, that might lead to a possible epitaxial growth of ct-MnO2 lattices on the 8-MnO2 lattices during the thermal annealing process. 展开更多

Controllable formation of microstructures in the assembled graphene film could tune the physical properties and broaden its applications in flexible electronics.Many efforts have been made to control the formation of wrinkles and ripples in graphene films.However,the formation of orderly wrinkles in graphene film remains a challenge.Here,we reported a simple strategy for the fabrication of graphene film with periodic and parallel wrinkles with a pre-stretched polydimethylsiloxane substrate.The width of the wrinkles in graphene can be controlled by changing the pre-stretched strain of the substrate.The average width of wrinkles in graphene film on the substrate with pre-stretched strain of 10%,20%,and 50%was about 3.68,2.99 and 2.01µm,respectively.The morphological evolution of wrinkled double-layered graphene under mechanical deformation was observed and studied.Furthermore,a strain sensor was constructed based on the wrinkled graphene,showing high sensitivity,large working range and excellent cyclic stability.These strain sensors show great potential in real-time motion detection,health surveillance and electronic skins. 展开更多

Therefore, maintenance on condition is used. State-of-the-art is a trend analysis and a fault prediction made only based on sensor signals and stochastic methods. The identification possibilities of this technique are limited. A new concept for model-based monitoring has been developed for more detailed fault identification. The developed concept determines the condition of a machine after the occurrence of a fault. The concept is based on a simulation including various faults and an optimization tool. The development of a cost function and the optimization is one of the challenges of such a concept. Using an AMB rotor system with an auxiliary bearing, the new concept of model-based monitoring is investigated using experiments and the optimization is discussed in this paper. 展开更多
