The temperature dependent electric conductance of Bi nanowire arrays was measured from 78 K to 320 K. We found that the semimetal-to-semiconductor transition happened around 230 K for 30 nm Bi nanowires oriented along [0112] and the electric con- ductance of the nanowires had a strong temperature dependence.展开更多

Here we re- port the impurity effect on superconducting transition temperature Te in the newly discovered Cr-based superconductor K2Cr3As3. The resistivity measurements show that the crystals prepared using high-purity Cr metal (≥99.99%) have an electron mean free path much larger than the superconducting coherence length. For the crystals prepared using impure Cr that contains various non- magnetic impurities, however, the Tc decreases significantly, in accordance with the generalized Abrikosov-Gor'kov pair-breaking theory. This finding supports a non-s-wave superconductivity in K2Cr3As3.展开更多

Two-coil mutual inductance measurement clearly demonstrates the onset of diamagnetic screening at 65 K, which is consistent with the gap opening temperature determined by previous angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy results. The applied magnetic field causes a broadening of the superconducting transition near the onset temperature, which is the typical behavior for quasi-two-dimensional superconductors. Our results provide direct evidence that Fe Se thin film grown on Nb-doped Sr Ti O3 substrate has an onset TC* 65 K,which is the highest among all iron-based superconductors discovered so far.展开更多

The temperature trans-fer matrix was obtained for the air preheater that comprises several discrete heat transfer units with same or different heat transfer surface area in a parallel or counter flow mode. By using the temperature transfer matrix, the outlet fluid temperatures could be easily calculated for a given air preheater and inlet fluid temperatures. The active length of condenser in a variable conductance heat pipe is determined according to the flat interface model. With the same initial conditions, the comparisons between variable conductance heat-pipe air preheater and regular heat pipe air preheater has been analyzed and tested in terms of heat pipe wall temperature, heat transfer surface area and outlet fluid temperatures. Based on the real industrial applications, it has been confirmed that the variable conductance heat pipe air preheater has excellent performance of anti-corrosion and anti-ash-deposition especially at the variable working condition and the sulfur coal (5%-6% mass fraction of sulfur) condition.展开更多

The voltage peak turned dip during warming. The voltage peak or dip was found to originate respectively from the emergence or vanishing of the proximity-induced superconductivity in the Au nanowire. The amplitude of the voltage signal depends on the temperature scanning rate, and it cannot be detected when the temperature is changed slower than 0.03 K/min. This transient feature suggests the non-equilibrium property of the effect. Ginzburg-Landau model clarified the voltage peak by considering the emergence of Cooper pairs of relatively lower free energy in superconducting W contact and the non-equilibrium diffusion of Cooper pairs and quasiparticles.展开更多
