The effects of major salt content and current density on surface quality, deposition rate and microhardness of Ag coatings were investigated. The optimized electroplating parameters were established. The adhesion strength of Ag coating on Cu substrate was evaluated and the grain size of Ag coating was measured under optimized electroplating parameters. The optimized AgNO3 content is 40 g/L with current density of 0.25 A/dm2. The deposited bright, smooth, and well adhered Ag coating had nanocrystalline grains with mean size of 35 nm. The optimized AgBr content was 30 g/L with current density of 0.20 A/dm2. The resultant Ag coating had nanocrystalline grains with mean size of 55 nm. Compared with the bath containing AgBr main salt, the bath containing AgNO3 main salt had a wider current density range, and corresponding Ag coating had a higher microhardness and a smaller grain size.展开更多

A three- dimensional packaged half bridge-IPEM (HB-IPEM), consisting of two chip scale packaged MOSFETs and the corresponding gate driver and protection circuits, is fabricated at the laboratory. The reliability of the IPEM is controlled from the shape design of solder joints and the control of assembly process parameters. The parasitic parameters are extracted using Agilent 4395A impedance analyzer for building the parasitic parameter model of the HB- IPEM. A 12 V/3 A output synchronous rectifier Buck converter using the HB-IPEM is built to test the electrical performance of the HB-IPEM. Low voltage spikes on two MOSFETs illustrate that the three-dimensional package of the HB-IPEM can decrease parasitic inductance. Temperature distribution simulation results of the HB-IPEM using FLOTHERM are given. Heat dissipation of the solder joints makes the peak junction temperature of the chip drop obviously. The package realizes three-dimensional heat dissipation and has better thermal management.展开更多

The isolation belt struc- ture is usually employed to enhance the dimensional accuracy of electroformed metal mieropart. However, noble metal is wasted because the isolation belt is filled with metal when noble metal mieroparts are fabricated. There- fore, a semi-isolation belt structure is presented to save noble metal. Furthermore, a high current density is also introduced to shorten the eleetroforming time, and thus the dimensional accuracy of electroformed gold micropart is improved by using the electrolyte jet. The experimental results indicate that both the semi-isolation belt and the high current density can help to enhance the dimensional accuracy of electroformed gold micropart. Its dimen- sional error is only 5 μm at the current density of 0. 6 A/dm2 while the semi-isolation belt structure is used.展开更多

The adiabatic and vertical detachment energies of CO1-4C3- and COl-4C4- were obtained from their photoelectron spectra. By comparing the theoretical results with the experimental data, the global minimum structures were determined. The results indicate that the carbon atoms of ConC3-/0 and ConC4-/0 (n=1-4) are separated from each other gradually with increasing number of cobalt atoms but a C2 unit still remains at n=4. It is interesting that the Co2C3- and Co2C4- anions have planar structures whereas the neutral Co2C3 and Co2C4 have linear structures with the Co atoms at two ends. The Co3C3- anion has a planar structure with a Co2C2 four-membered ring and a Co3C four-membered ring sharing a Co-Co bond, while the neutral Co3C3 is a three-dimensional structure with a C2 unit and a C atom connecting to two faces of the Co3 triangle.展开更多

With regard to the dominant influence of grain boundary scattering which is taken as a boundary condition for the electrical transport, the grain size-dependent electrical conductivity is investigated. In addition, the reorientation of the relative magnetization between grains brings the change of the electron spin when the magnetonanocrystailine material is subjected to the magnetic field, resulting in the remarkable giant magnetoresistance effect.展开更多

An electro-flotation method was studied with fine scheelite and fluorite particles sized into three different fractions. Experiments were performed in a modified Hallimond tube. We investigated the effects of gas holdup, particle size, and different mesh electrode apertures on mineral recovery. Flotation results show that two size fractions show increased flotation recovery as the gas holdup increases. For the sized scheelite and fluorite, the flotation effect is diverse for different sizes of the cathode aperture. Pictures of the bubbles taken by a high speed CCD were used to determine the hydrogen bubble size distribution generated as a function of collector, current density, and electrode size. The diameters of the hydrogen bubbles ranged from 12 to 117μm in alkaline conditions.展开更多
