Unlike historical cinematic mov...The scope of this paper is to investigate a number of emerging contemporary popular subgenres, namely that of "mumblecore film", the "best-worst film" and "the gonzo documentary". Unlike historical cinematic movements, these subgenres are the result of our techocentric culture and commercialism. In this respect these subgenres are less motivated by a collective ideology, but rather a cultural phenomenon resulting from increased access to popular culture, hypermedia devices, social media, and new marketing techniques. This paper investigates the displacement of traditional models of temporality through the metamorphosis of today's audiovisual culture, outlining the subject's embodiment of voyeurism and exhibitionism, ushering in a hyper-real era of self-myth making and consumption.展开更多

Hollywood at that time, because of the monopolization of the so-called "eight movie companies", the shooting and operation of a film followed rigorous steps of "producer system." The target of the "producer system" entirely aimed at the market in order to get the maximum profits; therefore, although this system brought a lot of money to the film industry, it also limited the filmmakers' play space. Thus, a group of filmmakers got rid of the eight movie companies' control and made self-financing, or even wrote and direct red by themselves, they shot a lot of strong ideological films which were different with commercial films, known as the" Independent Film ".展开更多

Through a critical examination of the text structure of the plot and the language used by four main characters, i...The current study explores how the ideological struggle is unfolded in the movie Forrest Gump (1994). Through a critical examination of the text structure of the plot and the language used by four main characters, it demonstrates that conservatism has gained great victory over liberalism in the following way: Those with conservative values are highlighted repeatedly in a favorable way, while those who preach liberal values are frequently associated with tragic events, and ultimately, the latter all converted into conservatives in one way or another, which indicates a reconciliation between the two opposing ideologies. This study might shed light on how visual media can be geared towards political justifications, and bring audience to the level of conscious awareness of that effect展开更多
