In order to improve the throughput performance of the secondary users (SUs) in the cognitive radio (CR) environment, a quality of service (QoS) based media access control (MAC) protocol is proposed. In this protocol, the CR node maps the channel state as a vector, and the transmitter and the receiver obtain the final channel map through an AND operation to prepare for an optional channel set. Data from the upper application layer are classified into two priority levels according to the QoS requirement. The data of each level relate to different contention windows so that the priority of real time data can be guaranteed. A two-dimensional discrete-time Markov chain is utilized to evaluate the system performance, and mathematical expressions of the system throughput are derived. Simulation results show that compared with the IEEE 802. 11 distributed coordination function (DCF), the proposed MAC protocol can achieve higher throughput. 展开更多

A CMOS active mixer based on voltage control load technique which can operate at 1.0 V supply voltage was proposed, and its operation principle, noise and linearity analysis were also presented. Contrary to the conventional Gilbert-type mixer which is based on RF current-commutating, the load impedance in this proposed mixer is controlled by the LO signal, and it has only two stacked transistors at each branch which is suitable for low voltage applications. The mixer was designed and fabricated in 0.18 tam CMOS process for 2.4 GHz ISM band applications. With an input of 2.44 GHz RF signal and 2.442 GHz LO signal, the measurement specifications of the proposed mixer are: the conversion gain (Gc) is 5.3 dB, the input-referred third-order intercept point (PIIP3) is 4.6 dBm, the input-referred 1 dB compression point (P1dB) is --7.4 dBm, and the single-sideband noise figure (NFSSB) is 21.7 dB. 展开更多

A method of finding the optimal length of data frame when impulsive disturbance is involved in PowerLine Communications (PLC) is proposed. Having analyzed the characteristics of impulsive disturbance in powerline and the collision mechanism between the disturbance and data frame, this letter gives the function of the network channel utilization with the length of data frame in MAC layer and the impulsive disturbance. First, we propose the interfer- ence constraint which ensures that the Quality of Service (QoS) standards for primary users is considered and a non-cooperative game power control model. Based on the proposed model, we developed a logical utility function based on the Signal-to-Interference-Noise Ratio (S/NR) and a novel algorithm network power control. that is suitable for CR Then, the existence and uniqueness of the Nash Equilibrium (NE) in our utility function are proved by the principle of game theory and the corresponding optimi- zations. Compared to traditional algorithms, the proposed one could converge to an NE in 3-5 iterative operations by setting an appropriate pricing factor. Finally, simulation results ver- ified the stability and superiority of the novel algorithm in flat-fading channel environments. 展开更多

In this paper, trellis shaping is applied to reducing the Peak-to-Average Power Ratio(PAPR) of NC-OFDM signals due to the fact that the total number of active subcarriers and their locations might change continuously in a dynamic spectrum access network.A new branch metric of trellis shaping is proposed which reduces the PAPR of OFDM signals through minimizing the variance of the power by VA decoder.The overall performance considerably depends on the type of signal mapping, and therefore a new type of 64QAM mapping method is designed.Simulation results show that this scheme significantly reduces the PAPR.Finally, a significant phenomenon is demonstrated that the PAPR of NC-OFDM signals in which the deactivated carriers is distributed in the Bernoulli distribution has better performance than that of OFDM signals. 展开更多

Device-to-Device(D2D) communication has been proposed as a promising implementation of green communication to benefit the existed cellular network.In order to limit cross-tier interference while explore the gain of short-range communication,we devise a series of distributed power control(DPC) schemes for energy conservation(EC)and enhancement of radio resource utilization in the hybrid system.Firstly,a constrained opportunistic power control model is built up to take advantage of the interference avoidance methodology in the presence of service requirement and power constraint.Then,biasing scheme and admission control are added to evade ineffective power consumption and maintain the feasibility of the system.Upon feasibility,a non-cooperative game is further formulated to exploit the profit in EC with minor influence on spectral efficiency(SE).The convergence of the DPC schemes is validated and their performance is confirmed via simulation results. 展开更多

The characteristics of underwater acoustic channel such as long propagation delay and low bit rate cause the MAC(Medium Access Control) protocols designed for radio channels to be either inapplicable,or have low efficiency for UWSN(Underwater Sensor Network).We propose a hierarchical and distributed code assignment algorithm based on divisive probability function which can avoid conflict between spread codes with high probability,and provide a statebased MAC protocol for UWSN.Without RTS/CTS(Request To Send/Clear To Send) handshaking,each node maintains a neighbor table including state field,and packages are forwarded according to the state of the receiver,so it can avoid the interference caused by transmitting to a sending node in a half-duplex system and improve channel utilization.The design of power control minimizes the nearfar effect inherent in CDMA.Simulation results reveal that state-based CDMA protocol shows outstanding performance in throughput,delivery ratio and resource-consumption. 展开更多

We proposed a novel driving logical waveform generator based on the SCI interface, which can real-time adjust the parameters to optimize performance of the PDP and facilitate the research and test. The use of nesting state-machine and parameterized design not only improves the resource utilization, but also makes it efficient and readable. The design has been written in synthesizable Verilog and fully verified using Xilinx FPGA device and applied in 42-in AC-PDP module. 展开更多

This paper lenges in the design of discusses some chal- millimeter-wave (mln- wave) circuits and systems for 5th generation (5G) wireless systems in CMOS process. The properties of some passive and active devices such as inductors, capacitors, transmission lines, translbrmers and transistors in mm-wave frequency band are discussed. Self-healing technique dealing with PVT variation, res- onant mode switching technique to enhance frequency tuning range of voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) and dual mode technique for power amplifier (PA) efficiency enhancement are introduced. At last, A fully-integrated 60 GHz 5 Gb/s QPSK transceiver with the transmit/receive (T/R) switch in 65nm CMOS process is introduced. The measured error vector magnitude (EVM) of the TX is -21.9 dB while the bit error rate (BER) of the RX with a -52 dBm sine-wave input is below 8e-7 when transmitting/receiving 5 Gb/s data. The transceiver is powered by 1.0 V and 1.2 V supply (except the phase-frequency detector and charge-pump in the frequency synthesizer which are powered by 2.5 V supply) and con- sumes 135 mW in TX mode and 176 mW in RX mode. 展开更多

Using both the wavelet decomposition and the phase space embedding, the phase trajectories of electroencephalogram (EEG) is described. It is illustrated based on the present work,that is,the wavelet decomposition of EEG is essentially a projection of EEG chaotic attractor onto the wavelet space opened by wavelet filter vectors, which is in correspondence with the phase space embedding of the same EEG. In other words, wavelet decomposition and phase space embedding are equivalent in methodology. Our experimental results show that in both the wavelet space and the embedded space the structure of phase trajectory of EEG is similar to each other. These results demonstrate that wavelet decomposition is effective on characterizing EEG time series. 展开更多

The NPP (nuclear power plant) being vital objects of an energy infrastructure must be protected against malicious actions affecting their safety, and cyber security plays a key part in attaining this goal. The paper considers, implemented by the authors within the project of advanced digital control system for NPP with the reactor VVER-1000, a system of unauthorized access protection, partially built up on the technology of AA (active audit) and expert system. The AA technology is based on response of the system on deviation of current signature of the automated process control system from stable state rather than on a certain signature of attack and relies on the estimation of the behavioral models of the particular digital control system. The advent of active audit reflects the current situation in the digital control systems where complex distributed platforms are used to construct automated process control system. The active audit allows one to make the digital control system functionally closed, provided that it is determinate. The methodology of the active audit does not give u external (barrier) and traditional (password, antivirus) methods of unauthorized access protection. These methods can be used when it is appropriate to achieve a required protection level. 展开更多

The stronglink with muhi-try function based on MEMS technology and the PC startup in authentication system have been designed and fabricated. The generation principle and structure of UQS code are introduced, which consists of two groups of metal counter-meshing gears, two pawl/ratchet mechanisms, two driving micromotors and two resetting micromotors. The energy-coupling element is a photoelectric sensor with a circular and notched plate. It is fabricated using the UV-LiGA process and precision mechanical engineering. The PC startup authentication system is controlled by BIOS program, which is written into the chip according with special format. The program in BIOS output signals controls the running of stronglink to finish the process of authentication. The device can run more than 10000 times before a stop. The driving voltage is 12 V, and the normal decoding time is 3 s. 展开更多

This paper presents a transition-mode zero-voltage-switching inverter for the cooker magnetron of household microwave ovens. The inverter drives a leakage transformer to generate the required high voltage and stabilized current. For achieving zero-voltage switching, a transition-mode driver L6561 is utilized to detect the ending of transformer resonance and drive an insulated-gate-bipolar-transistor. As transistor is conducted, rectified direct-current voltage drives the transformer. While transistor is cut off, transformer resonates with a parallel capacitor. Transistor conduction time and magnetron power are controlled with a 16-bit digital signal controller dsPIC30F4011. For widening the working range, transistor conduction time is set to be inversely changed with line-frequency input voltage. To demonstrate the analysis and design of this paper, a 1 kW inverter circuit is built. Experimental results show the feasibility and usefulness of the designed magnetron power supply. 展开更多

Broadband PLC (power line communication) technology is a main factor of the development of digital convergence in the indoor network. It uses the already existing power cable infrastructure for communication purpose... Broadband PLC (power line communication) technology is a main factor of the development of digital convergence in the indoor network. It uses the already existing power cable infrastructure for communication purposes. The EM (electromagnetic) field radiating from the cable could, however, disturb other communication systems, and thus should be evaluated. The MoM (method of moment) and the FEM (finite element method) have been studied to estimate the EVI field emitted from the power cable. However, the M oM is difficult to treat the dielectric material of the cable and the FEM is time consuming. This paperpresents a new approach to estimate the radiated EM fields caused by PLC sy stems from the CM current along the cable, based on the transmission line theory. The proposed model has the advantage of using the measured primary parameters of the cable. An experimental analysis of the EM radiation distribution is also presented. A comparison showed that the model results agree quite well with the measurements performed in this study. 展开更多
