In particular, a strategy, based on SCR (silicon controlled rectifier) phase, shift control in a mixed rectifier bridge with diodes and thyristors, is proposed. The challenge is to help designers optimize the triggering delay of SCRs to both limit the peak value of inrush current spikes and optimize the charge duration of the DC-link capacitor. A mathematical model (Mathcad engineering tool) has been defined to point out, the interest of a variable triggering delay to control SCRs to meet the expectations described previously. Experimental measurements using an industrial evaluation board of the AC-DC converter demonstrate the robustness of the method.展开更多

However, in the traditional horizontal tin-plating process, disadvantages such as the pinhole defects and low productivity effect cannot be avoided. In this paper, a vertical tin-plating process was proposed to reduce the pinhole defects and improve the tincoating quality. Compared with the traditional horizontal tin-plating process, the immersion length was reduced from 300-400 mm to 10-100 mm and the tin-plating time was reduced from 7 s to 3 s in the proposed method. The experimental results indicate that immersion length and time are key parameters for the tin-plating quality. With this new tin-plating process, the experimental results show that the pinhole defects can be eliminated effectively by controlling the immersion depth below 100 mm and tin-plating time at 3 s. The thickness of tin-coating increased from not more than 5 μm to 12.3 μm with the proposed vertical tin-plating process. Meanwhile, the thickness of the intermetallic compounds (IMCs) layer between the tin-coating and copper wires was reduced from 3.26 μm to 0.62 μm if the immersion time decreased from 30 s to 1 s. Besides, a self-developed flux, which possesses a boiling point or decomposed temperature of active components over 300℃, exhibits a better efficiency in reducing the pinhole formation.展开更多

The principle of the movement for a straightforward motion consists in transformation of the actuator rotary movement through a screw and a nut to the linear motion. It causes a change of distance between the front and rear parts of the minimachine modules. Due to minimization of the dimensions, the electrical control and power supply components are placed outside of the minimachine operating area. The control module is based on a programmable integrated circuit (PIC).展开更多

Tariff billing and collection has been a big problem in some community in Nigeria even with the introduction of prepaid meters. The process of payment is cumbersome and stressful as consumers have to go and pay in banks and then take tellers to power utility office to confirm their power bills payment before they can recharge their cards. The major purpose of this work is to design and implement a convenient, cashless, automated and transparent electricity metering, billing and payment system. This project combines the power electronic meter with a communications network which in this case is a GSM (global system for mobile) network. Remote electricity billing is a unique concept, in which the electricity board can collect the consumed units' data from consumer on mobile phone using GSM network. A unique property of this system is that, the electricity board can disconnect or reconnect consumers from remote location through the mobile phone. As this project works on GSM network, the system can be controlled from any part of the country.展开更多
