Metal-organic framework-derived porous carbon for the advanced aqueous zinc-ion hybrid capacitor

Aqueous zinc ion hybrid capacitors(ZIHCs)are considered one of the most promising electrochemical energy storage systems due to their high safety,environmental friendliness,low cost,and high power density.However,the low energy density and the lack of sustainable design strategies for the cathodes hinder the practical application of ZIHCs.Herein,we design the N and O co-doped porous carbon cathode by annealing metal-organic framework(ZIF-8).ZIF-8 retains the original dodecahedral structure with a high specific surface(2814.67 m^(2)/g)and I_(G)/I_(D) ratio of 1.0 during carbonization and achieves self-doping of N and O heteroatoms.Abundant defect sites are introduced into the porous carbon to provide additional active sites for ion adsorption after the activation of carbonized ZIF-8 by KOH treatment.The ZIHCs assembled with modified ZIF-8 as the cathode and commercial zinc foil as the anode show an energy density of 125 W∙h/kg and a power density of 79 W/kg.In addition,this ZIHCs device achieves capacity retention of 77.8%after 9000 electrochemical cycles,which is attributed to the diverse pore structure and plentiful defect sites of ZIF-8-800(KOH).The proposed strategy may be useful in developing high-performance metal-ion hybrid capacitors for large-scale energy storage. 展开更多

For the three-phase hybrid excitation doubly salient machine (HEDSM) motor and its three-phase full-bridge inverter, in the proposed analytical method, all possible working modes are generally listed. The reduction mechanism of Ir in the NaCl-KCl-IrCl3 molten salt was investigated by cyclic voltammetry and chronopotentiometry, and Ir film was deposited effectively on platinum in potentiostatic mode. The morphology and constitution of Ir film were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). It is found that the reduction mechanism of Ir(III) is a three-electron step and electro reaction is a reversible diffusion controlled process; the diffusion coefficients of Ir(III) at 1083, 1113, 1143 and 1183 K are 1.56×10-4, 2.23×10-4, 2.77×10-4 and 4.40×10-4 cm2/s, respectively, while the activation energy of the electrode reaction is 102.95 kJ/mol. The compacted Ir film reveals that the applied potential greatly affects the deposition of Ir, the thickness of Ir film deposited at the potential of reduction peak is the highest, the temperature of the molten salt also exerts an influence on deposition, the film formed at a lower temperature is thinner, but more micropores would occur on film when the temperature went too high. 展开更多

To solve the low efficiency of electric excitation claw-pole synchronous generator(EECPSG) and regulate the magnetic field of permanent magnet (PM) claw-pole synchronous generator(PMCPSG), a novel hybrid excitation claw-pole synchronous generator (HECPSG)with magnetic circuit series connection is proposed. Through the simulation study on the generator using the calculation method for magnetic circuit and 3-D finite element method (FEA), the appropriate magnet thickness and the number of pole-pairs for the proposed generator are determined. Its off-loading characteristics, load characteristics, and regulation behaviors are investigated. The study shows that the appropriate number of pole-pairs in HECPSG with series magnetic circuits is two, and there exists an optimum magnet thickness. Compared to EECPSG, HECPSG realizes dual-directional control to the excitation current. Moreover, the generator can adjust the output voltage and keep the output voltage stable in a broad load range. Under the condition of same parametes, the motor has higer air-gap flux density and power density. 展开更多

The three-phase bridge inverter is used as the converter topology in the power controller for a 9 kW doubly salient permanent magnet (DSPM) motor. Compared with common three-phase bridge inverters, the proposed inverter works under more complicated conditions with different principles for special winding back EMFs, position signals of hall sensors, and the given mode of switches. The ideal steady driving principles of the inverter for the motor are given. The working state with asymmetric winding back EMFs, inaccurate position signals of hall sensors, and the changing input voltage is analyzed. In order to obtain a porous Mg electrode with a stable skeleton, organic Mg fuel cell (OMFC), the electrochemical behavior of Mg deposition on Cu and Ni metallic substrates in 1 mol/L EtMgBr/THF solution was investigated by SEM, EDS and electrochemical methods. The experimental results show that Mg can be electrodeposited on both substrates, as a continuous layer on a Cu substrate. Accordingly, an approach for producing a porous Mg electrode with a stable skeleton of OMFC was proposed by means of electrodeposition of Mg on a foamed Ni substrate with a layer of Cu pre-plating. The discharge performance of this porous Mg electrode of OMFC is superior to that of a planar Mg electrode. 展开更多

An organic thin-film transistor (OTFT) with an OTS/SiO2 bilayer gate insulator and a MoO3/AI electrode configuration between gate insulator and source/drain electrodes has been investigated. A thermally grown SiO2 layer is used as the OTFT gate dielectric and copper phthalocyanine(CuPc) is used as an active layer. This OTS/SiO2 bilayer gate insulator configuration increases the field-effect mobility, reduces the threshold voltage, and improves the on/off ratio simultaneously. The device with a MoO3/Al electrode has shown similar Ids compared to the device with an Au electrode at the same gate voltage. Our results indicate that using a double-layer of electrodes and a double-layer of insulators is an effective way to improve OTFT performance. 展开更多

A mixed-signal driver chip for a 132 × 64-pixel passive matrix OLED panel is presented. The chip has a 64-step gray scale control using the PWM method and two-step voltage pre-charge technology to pre-charge the OLED pixels. It consists of a digital controller,SRAM for display data memory,a DC-DC voltage converter,reference current generators,a pre-charge voltage generator,64 common drivers, and 132 segment drivers. The single chip is a typical current-drive circuit. It has been implemented in a Chartered 0.35/μm 18V HV (DDD) CMOS process with a die area of 10mm× 2mm. Test results show that the power consumption of the whole chip and all pixels with a constant driving current of 100μA while displaying the highest gray scale is 294mW with a 12V high voltage supply and a 3V low voltage supply. 展开更多

Rechargeable Li-CO2 batteries provide a promising new approach for carbon capture and energy storage technology. However, their practical application is limited by many challenges despite much progress in this technology. Recent development in Li-CO2 batteries is presented. The reaction mechanism with an air cathode, operating temperatures used, electrochemical performance under different CO2 concentrations, stability of the battery in different electrolytes, and utilization of different cathode materials were emphasized. At last, challenges and perspectives were also present- ed. This review provides a deep understanding of Li-CO2 batteries and offers important guidelines for developing reversible and high efficiency Li-CO2 batteries. 展开更多
