There are four major characteristics in this system. Firstly, the gas of maximum 64 detection points is transferred through the specific air path to the detection devices to he detected and analyzed, thereby the electrical lines and the complicated installation of the collectors can be avoided; secondly, the differential technique is used to shield the influence of environmental factors, which effectively improves the accuracy of the acoustic detection; thirdly, the SF6 coneentration is determined by the speed and phase in the ultrasonic wave trans- mission process, therefore there is no secondary pollution for the purely physical means; finally, the ma- ture embedded technique is applied in this system to improve its intelligence and stability.展开更多

This paper discusses these two programs and evaluates their respective performances. We develop an efficient approach based on marginal cost pricing to redesign the TOU rate scheme. In our finding, the TOU price levels could be revised to encourage more customers to participate by enlarging the price gap. Moreover, the DRI scheme can be further improved in order to reach an efficient win-win solution among customers, the utility and society. This can be achieved via a careful design of incentive tariff discounts to take account of the time-of-use or location-specific features of the power supply/demand condition.展开更多

The current fuel mix for power generation is heavily dependent on fossil fuels. This has created energy supply and environmental sustainability concerns to the industry. Furthermore, at the recent United Nations Climate Change Conference 2009-15th Conference of Parties (COP15), Malaysia had given the commitment to voluntary reduction of up to 40% in terms of emissions intensity of GDP by the year 2020 compared to 2005 levels. Renewable energy (RE) provides the best alternative in addressing these issues. In 2001, RE was regarded as the fifth fuel in the new Five Fuel Strategy of the National Energy Policy. Small Renewable Energy Program (SREP) was launched with the main objective of supporting the government's strategy to intensify the development of RE as the fifth fuel resource. Biomass, the largest amongst the main RE resources available, can be used for heat and power generation. With optimum utilization, the value ofbiomass resources in Malaysia is estimated to be more than RM 500 billion (USD 156 billion) over the next 20 years. Malaysia has the capacity to use renewable energy resources to address the national energy agenda.展开更多

This would improve energy utilization, higher conversion efficiency with reliable and affordable supply of electricity to the public. The proposed approach is using 18 inch diameter of solar dish concentrator to measure the solar radiation using the aluminium foil as a reflector. In this paper, solar radiation is collected to investigate the solar fraction on incoming solar energy in wet climate.展开更多
