Methods: 145 patients diagnosed as CSNRT were randomized into 3 groups: combined treatment group, EA group, and cervical traction (CT) group. The combined group was treated with traction followed by EA of Dazhui (大椎 GV 14), Fengchi (风池 GB 20), cervical Jiaji (夹脊 EX-B 2), etc.. Patients of two control groups were only treated by either CT or EA. Results: The markedly-effective rate and total effective rate were 76.0% and 94.0% respectively in the combined treatment group, 62.5% and 81.25% respectively in CT group, and 63.82% and 82.97% respectively in EA group. The therapeutic effect of the combined treatment group was significantly superior to that of two control groups (P<0.05). At 6-month follow-up, the above two markedly-effective and total effective rates in the combined treatment group remained 74.0% and 92.0%, still significantly higher than that in two control groups. Conclusion: Combining cervicle traction with EA treatment can effectively eliminate or relieve the symptoms and signs in patients with nerve root type cervical spondylopathy.展开更多

The therapeutic method was acupuncture of Jiaji(Ex-B 2) on the affected segment and the upper and lower vertebrae close together. After the arrival of qi, the needles were connected to acupuncture therapeutic instrument. Meanwhile, the numb, heavy and uncomfortable area on the shoulder and upper limb, where something like cord could be touched, was selected as Ashi point. The needle was inserted perpendicularly into the skin on the place that the cord was most obvious and inserted obliquely and deeply along the cord. After 3 4 courses of treatment, 90 cases got marked effectiveness and 10 cases got effectiveness.展开更多

Method: Depending on the orders of the patient's first visit, 120 cases were randomized into a treatment group (60 cases), receiving electroacupuncture, tuina and traction treatment, and a control group (60 cases), receiving electroacupuncture and tuina treatment. The treatment was done once a day, and 5 times constitute one course of treatment. A 2-day interval is set between the courses. The therapeutic effect was evaluated after 6 courses of treatment. Result: The total effective rate and recovery rate in the treatment group were 93.3% and 61.7%, respectively, whereas that of the control group were 78.3% and 31.7%, respectively, showing a significant statistical difference. Methods: EA, combined EA and other treatments for NCS are classified and analyzed. Results: The most commonly used acupoints are JiaJi (Ex-B2), Fengchi (GB 20), Waiguan (TE 5), Quchi (LI 11). EA is widely applied to treat CSR because of its definite therapeutic effects and safety. Conclusion: The validity of other evaluation indexes needs to be proved by more rigorously designed randomized controlled trials (RCT) with scientific methods.展开更多

Methods: A total of 64 patients with urinary retention after radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer was divided into a navel acupuncture group (22 cases), an acupuncture group (18 cases) and an acupuncture plus navel acupuncture group (24 cases). All three groups received bladder function training and neuromuscular electrical stimulation. In addition, navel points were combined in the navel acupuncture group. Electroacupuncture was conducted to Qihai (CV 6), Zhongji (CV 3), Dahe (KI 12), Shuidao (ST 28), Ciliao (BL 32) and Huiyang (BL 35) in the acupuncture group. The acupuncture plus navel acupuncture group received both treatments. The catheter was removed after 3 d of treatment. Spontaneous urination, residual urine volume, urinary catheter dependence and recurrence after 3 d, 6 d and 9 d of treatment in each group were observed, respectively. Results: In the acupuncture plus navel acupuncture group, the markedly effective rates after 3 d, 6 d and 9 d of treatment were significantly higher than those in the navel acupuncture group and the acupuncture group;the urinary catheter dependence was lower than that of the other two groups, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05, P<0.01);the spontaneous urination time was shorter than that of the navel acupuncture group and the acupuncture group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05, P<0.01);the residual urine volume was significantly less than that of the navel acupuncture group and the acupuncture group, and the differences were statistically significant (both P<0.01). After the catheter was removed, recurrence was observed from the next day after spontaneous urination was resumed. There were 2 cases of recurrence in the navel acupuncture group, 2 cases in the acupuncture group and 1 case in the acupuncture plus navel acupuncture group. The recurrence rate of the acupuncture plus navel acupuncture group was significantly lower than that of the navel acupuncture group and the acupuncture group (both P<0.01). Conclusion: Acupuncture plus navel acupuncture has satisfactory efficacy for urinary retention after radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer. It can significantly shorten the urinary retention time, reduce the patient's dependence on urinary catheter, and reduce the residual urine volume.展开更多

The composite treatment group was treated by scraping along the Governor Meridian, the Gallbladder Meridian and the Bladder Meridian with Geng's multifunctional stone plate, quick cupping with subsequent retention of cups, routine electroacupuncture, and infrared irradiation. The control group was treated by routine electroacupuncture and infrared irradiation. Both groups were treated once very other day, 6 times as a course. The clinical curative effects and adverse responses were evaluated immediately after each treatment and at the completion of one course of treatment in both groups. Results: The total immediate effective rate was 88.6% in the composite treatment group and 80.0% in the control group. The immediate effect was significantly better in the composite treatment group than in the control group (P〈0.05). The total effective rate at the completion of one course of treatment was 97.1% in the composite treatment group and 94.3% in the control group. The curative effect after one course of treatment was also significantly better in the composite treatment group than in the control group (P〈0.05). Methods:A total of 300 CP cases aged between 1 and 5 years were randomly allocated into a treatment group (n=150) and a control group (n=150). Patients in the treatment group were treated with Governor Vessel-unblocking and brain- refreshing scalp acupuncture combined with rehabilitation training, whereas patients in the control group received rehabilitation training alone. The Beijing Gesell developmental (Gesell) scale and gross motor function measure (GMFM) scale were used to assess the motor and intellectual development before and 3 months after the treatment. In addition, the head CT/MRI examination was applied to assess the brain nerve repair before and after the treatment. Results:After the treatment, the total effective rate in the treatment group was 78.0%, versus 42.7% in the control group, showing a statistical significance (P〈0.05). As for scores of five subscales in the Gesell scale, there were significant intra-group differences in the treatment group (allP〈0.05); and the scores in the treatment group were significantly better than those in the control group (allP〈0.05). As for scores of five dimensions in GMFM scale, there were significant intra-group differences in the treatment group (allP〈0.05); and the scores in the treatment group were significantly better than those in the control group (allP〈0.05). According to the head CT/MRI findings, the total effective rate was 73.3% in the treatment group, versus 62.0% in the control group, showing a statistical significance (P〈0.05). Conclusion:When used in combination with rehabilitative training, Governor Vessel-unblocking and brain-refreshing scalp acupuncture can significantly improve the clinical efficacy for cerebral palsy complicated with intellectual disabilities. It can also improve the patients' motor function, intelligence and language ability.展开更多

Methods:A hundred patients with straightened cervical curvature were randomized into 5 groups to receive corresponding treatment. The clinical efficacies and the changes of cervical curvature in the five groups were compared. Results:Different therapies all produced certain effectiveness in treating cervical spondylosis patients. The total effective rates in the acupuncture group and tuina group were both 100%, and the rates in the traction group, oral medication group and Chinese medicinal application group were all lower than the rates in the acupuncture group and tuina group (P〈0.05).
