A few possible damage patterns and the definition of the failure of the smart structures are given. It is pointed out that more attentions should be paid to the functional failures o f smart structures. The effects on the control the static deformation due to par tial debonding of PZT actuators are analyzed by the finite element method. Preli minary numerical results show that partial debonding of PZT actuators may have a p preciate reduction on their actuating ability thus reducing the control ability and accuracy of the smart structures.展开更多

First, digital PWM...Pulse width modulation ( PWM) drive control digitalization is the key for the full digital invert power supply. New ideas are proposed, which are based on field programmable gate array ( FPGA ). First, digital PWM principles are discussed. The primary and secondary current characteristics are analyzed when the transformer is in both normal and magnetic bias conditions. Second, two digitalization methods are put forward after the research on PWM adjustment principles, which are based on the primary current feedback. Though the two methods could restrain magnetic bias, their realization is difficult. A new method is researched on double close-loops to overcome the above shortcomings, which uses the secondary current as the feedback signal and the primary current as the protection signal. Finally, the secondary current control made is discussed and realized. Welding experimental results show that the method has strong flexibility and adaptability, which can be used to realize the full digital welding power supply.展开更多

The GA and PSO algorithms are developed and implemented into MATLAB. As a result, fuzzy-PSO is the most appropriate scheme. The proposed extended second-order disturbance observer deals with not only the external perturbations, but also parameter uncertainties which are commonly regarded as lumped disturbances in previous researches. Besides, the outer position tracking loop is designed with cylinder load pressure as output; and the inner pressure control loop provides the hydraulic actuator the characteristic of a force generator. The stability of the closed-loop system is provided based on Lyapunov theory. The performance of the controller is verified through simulations and experiments. The results demonstrate that the proposed nonlinear position tracking controller, together with the extended second-order disturbance observer, gives an excellent tracking performance in the presence of parameter uncertainties and external disturbance.展开更多

Different from typical geared motor, SMA actuator is lightweigh...A new prosthetic hand with a fixed thumb and four fingers actuated by Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) type artificial muscle has been developed in this paper. Different from typical geared motor, SMA actuator is lightweight and silent, however shows a little short stroke and small attracting force per each unit. In order to achieve enough output force and motion range of each finger, multiple SMA type artificial muscles with special device which facilitates enough length are equipped in the hand. The fundamental properties of the SMA type artificial muscle including output force and electrical response were determined experimentally and considered for the design of hand mechanism. Besides, the structure of each finger and whole system has been designed based on observation of human hand. The electrical hardware to control multiple shape memory alloy type artificial muscles has been also developed. Finally, the usefulness of the prosthetic hand has been investigated through experiments for grasping several types of objects.展开更多

Simultaneous dimming controlling and data transmission are usually required in a white LED based indoor visible light communication system.However,the diming controlling of LED normally interferes the data transmissio...Simultaneous dimming controlling and data transmission are usually required in a white LED based indoor visible light communication system.However,the diming controlling of LED normally interferes the data transmission due to the modulation nonlinearity of LED.In order to solve this problem,a scheme by separating the LEDs for the functions of dimming control and data transmission respectively is proposed in this paper.In the scheme,the LEDs used for dimming control function are driven by a dc amplified circuit,and the LEDs for data transmission are driven by a digital modulation circuit respectively.In this way,the modulation distortion to the data signal caused by the modulation nonlinearity can be avoided even if the dimming is at high level dc driven current.The proof-of-concept experiment of a 2.5Mbit/s visible light communication system demonstrates that the dimming controlling and data transmission can be realized simultaneously in a simple way,and the data transmission is not affected by the dimming controlling function.Compared to previous methods,the scheme in this paper is simpler and cost effective,and makes sense when high rate data is transmitted in a visible light communication system.展开更多

The function of electronic differential steering was realized by controlling the speed of right or left wheel and the corresponding speed difference. The control system was simulated with MATLAB/SIMUL1NK and ADAMS. It is found that the motor load torque is proportional to the tire vertical force, so the adhesive capacity is met. The electric scooter can operate stably on the slope road at a speed of more than 1.5 m/s and turn stably at yawing velocities of 10° and 90°per second.展开更多

A design method for the lightweight and improvement of the stability of the structure in a tilting index table was proposed using a commercial analysis program, ANSYS Workbench 12, by analyzing the static-thermal characteristics of the developed high-accuracy tilting index table at its design stage. The results of the performed structural analysis show that the maximum stress is generated at the stock tail part. An optimum design for the stock tail part was carried out to reduce the maximum stress and deformation. Also, the design variables were determined by considering the support of the stock tail part for the C-axis body. In the comparison of the results before and after the optimization, the maximum deformation and stress are improved by 2.8% and 8%, respectively.展开更多
The charging of electric vehicles(EVs) impacts the distribution grid, and its cost depends on the price of electricity when charging. An aggregator that is responsible for a large fleet of EVs can use a market-based c...The charging of electric vehicles(EVs) impacts the distribution grid, and its cost depends on the price of electricity when charging. An aggregator that is responsible for a large fleet of EVs can use a market-based control algorithm to coordinate the charging of these vehicles, in order to minimize the costs. In such an optimization, the operational parameters of the distribution grid, to which the EVs are connected, are not considered. This can lead to violations of the technical constraints of the grid(e.g., undervoltage, phase unbalances); for example, because many vehicles start charging simultaneously when the price is low. An optimization that simultaneously takes the economic and technical aspects into account is complex, because it has to combine time-driven control at the market level with eventdriven control at the operational level. Diff erent case studies investigate under which circumstances the market-based control, which coordinates EV charging, conflicts with the operational constraints of the distribution grid. Especially in weak grids, phase unbalance and voltage issues arise with a high share of EVs. A low-level voltage droop controller at the charging point of the EV can be used to avoid many grid constraint violations, by reducing the charge power if the local voltage is too low. While this action implies a deviation from the cost-optimal operating point, it is shown that this has a very limited impact on the business case of an aggregator, and is able to comply with the technical distribution grid constraints, even in weak distribution grids with many EVs.展开更多
LuGre model has been widely used in friction modeling and compensation.However,the new friction regime,named prestiction regime,cannot be accurately characterized by LuGre model in the latest research.With the extensi...LuGre model has been widely used in friction modeling and compensation.However,the new friction regime,named prestiction regime,cannot be accurately characterized by LuGre model in the latest research.With the extensive experimental observations of friction behaviors in the prestiction,some variables were abstracted to depict the rules in the prestiction regime.Based upon the knowledge of friction modeling,a novel friction model including the presliding regime,the gross sliding regime and the prestiction regime was then presented to overcome the shortcomings of the LuGre model.The reason that LuGre model cannot estimate the prestiction friction was analyzed in theory.Feasibility analysis of the proposed model in modeling the prestiction friction was also addressed.A parameter identification method for the proposed model based on multilevel coordinate search algorithm was presented.The proposed friction compensation strategy was composed of a nonlinear friction observer and a feedforward mechanism.The friction observer was designed to estimate the friction force in the presliding and the gross sliding regimes.And the friction force was estimated based on the model in the prestiction regime.The comparative trajectory tracking experiments were conducted on a simulator of inertially stabilization platforms among three control schemes:the single proportional–derivative(PD)control,the PD with LuGre model-based compensation and the PD with compensator based on the presented model.The experimental results reveal that the control scheme based on the proposed model has the best tracking performance.It reduces the peak-to-peak value(PPV)of tracking error to 0.2 mrad,which is improved almost 50%compared with the PD with LuGre model-based compensation.Compared to the single PD control,it reduces the PPV of error by 66.7%.展开更多
A control allocation algorithm based on pseudo-inverse method was proposed for the over-actuated system of four in-wheel motors independently driving and four-wheel steering-by-wire electric vehicles in order to impro...A control allocation algorithm based on pseudo-inverse method was proposed for the over-actuated system of four in-wheel motors independently driving and four-wheel steering-by-wire electric vehicles in order to improve the vehicle stability. The control algorithm was developed using a two-degree-of-freedom(DOF) vehicle model. A pseudo control vector was calculated by a sliding mode controller to minimize the difference between the desired and actual vehicle motions. A pseudo-inverse controller then allocated the control inputs which included driving torques and steering angles of the four wheels according to the pseudo control vector. If one or more actuators were saturated or in a failure state, the control inputs are re-allocated by the algorithm. The algorithm was evaluated in Matlab/Simulink by using an 8-DOF nonlinear vehicle model. Simulations of sinusoidal input maneuver and double lane change maneuver were executed and the results were compared with those for a sliding mode control. The simulation results show that the vehicle controlled by the control allocation algorithm has better stability and trajectory-tracking performance than the vehicle controlled by the sliding mode control. The vehicle controlled by the control allocation algorithm still has good handling and stability when one or more actuators are saturated or in a failure situation.展开更多

The energy-coupling element is a photoelectric sensor with a circular and notched plate. It is fabricated using the UV-LiGA process and precision mechanical engineering. The PC startup authentication system is controlled by BIOS program, which is written into the chip according with special format. The program in BIOS output signals controls the running of stronglink to finish the process of authentication. The device can run more than 10000 times before a stop. More specifically, four standard two-level three-phase VSIs (voltage source inver...In this paper, post-fault-tolerant control strategies for quad-inverter multiphase-multilevel induction motor drives are investigated. More specifically, four standard two-level three-phase VSIs (voltage source inverters) supplying the open-end windings of a dual three-phase induction motor is considered, quadrupling the power capability of a single VSI with given voltage and current ratings. In healthy conditions, the control algorithm is able to generate multi-level voltage waveforms, equivalent to the ones of a three-level inverter and to share the total motor power among the four dc sources in each switching period. This sharing capability is investigated under post-fault operating conditions, when one VSI must be completely insulated due to a severe failure on it. In this case, the conversion power unit can operate with a reduced power rating by a proper modulation of the remaining three VSIs. The whole ac motor drive has been numerically implemented, and the effectiveness of the proposed control strategies under healthy and post-fault operating conditions have been proved.展开更多

文摘LuGre model has been widely used in friction modeling and compensation.However,the new friction regime,named prestiction regime,cannot be accurately characterized by LuGre model in the latest research.With the extensive experimental observations of friction behaviors in the prestiction,some variables were abstracted to depict the rules in the prestiction regime.Based upon the knowledge of friction modeling,a novel friction model including the presliding regime,the gross sliding regime and the prestiction regime was then presented to overcome the shortcomings of the LuGre model.The reason that LuGre model cannot estimate the prestiction friction was analyzed in theory.Feasibility analysis of the proposed model in modeling the prestiction friction was also addressed.A parameter identification method for the proposed model based on multilevel coordinate search algorithm was presented.The proposed friction compensation strategy was composed of a nonlinear friction observer and a feedforward mechanism.The friction observer was designed to estimate the friction force in the presliding and the gross sliding regimes.And the friction force was estimated based on the model in the prestiction regime.The comparative trajectory tracking experiments were conducted on a simulator of inertially stabilization platforms among three control schemes:the single proportional–derivative(PD)control,the PD with LuGre model-based compensation and the PD with compensator based on the presented model.The experimental results reveal that the control scheme based on the proposed model has the best tracking performance.It reduces the peak-to-peak value(PPV)of tracking error to 0.2 mrad,which is improved almost 50%compared with the PD with LuGre model-based compensation.Compared to the single PD control,it reduces the PPV of error by 66.7%.

文摘A control allocation algorithm based on pseudo-inverse method was proposed for the over-actuated system of four in-wheel motors independently driving and four-wheel steering-by-wire electric vehicles in order to improve the vehicle stability. The control algorithm was developed using a two-degree-of-freedom(DOF) vehicle model. A pseudo control vector was calculated by a sliding mode controller to minimize the difference between the desired and actual vehicle motions. A pseudo-inverse controller then allocated the control inputs which included driving torques and steering angles of the four wheels according to the pseudo control vector. If one or more actuators were saturated or in a failure state, the control inputs are re-allocated by the algorithm. The algorithm was evaluated in Matlab/Simulink by using an 8-DOF nonlinear vehicle model. Simulations of sinusoidal input maneuver and double lane change maneuver were executed and the results were compared with those for a sliding mode control. The simulation results show that the vehicle controlled by the control allocation algorithm has better stability and trajectory-tracking performance than the vehicle controlled by the sliding mode control. The vehicle controlled by the control allocation algorithm still has good handling and stability when one or more actuators are saturated or in a failure situation.
文摘This paper describes the incremental PID control algorithm and the basic principles of motor soft start, and introduced STM32F103RB8 basic performance microcontroller, combined with incremental PID control advantages, and gives MCU in motor soft start process control application. Practice shows that the incremental PID applications, simplifying the control ideas to improve the performance of the current loop control, limiting the starting current, smooth start-up speed, and achieved good results motor start.

文摘The stronglink with muhi-try function based on MEMS technology and the PC startup in authentication system have been designed and fabricated. The generation principle and structure of UQS code are introduced, which consists of two groups of metal counter-meshing gears, two pawl/ratchet mechanisms, two driving micromotors and two resetting micromotors. The energy-coupling element is a photoelectric sensor with a circular and notched plate. It is fabricated using the UV-LiGA process and precision mechanical engineering. The PC startup authentication system is controlled by BIOS program, which is written into the chip according with special format. The program in BIOS output signals controls the running of stronglink to finish the process of authentication. The device can run more than 10000 times before a stop. The driving voltage is 12 V, and the normal decoding time is 3 s.
文摘In this paper, post-fault-tolerant control strategies for quad-inverter multiphase-multilevel induction motor drives are investigated. More specifically, four standard two-level three-phase VSIs (voltage source inverters) supplying the open-end windings of a dual three-phase induction motor is considered, quadrupling the power capability of a single VSI with given voltage and current ratings. In healthy conditions, the control algorithm is able to generate multi-level voltage waveforms, equivalent to the ones of a three-level inverter and to share the total motor power among the four dc sources in each switching period. This sharing capability is investigated under post-fault operating conditions, when one VSI must be completely insulated due to a severe failure on it. In this case, the conversion power unit can operate with a reduced power rating by a proper modulation of the remaining three VSIs. The whole ac motor drive has been numerically implemented, and the effectiveness of the proposed control strategies under healthy and post-fault operating conditions have been proved.

文摘This paper presents a new thermal computer, which is driven by heat current and not electricity current. The basic thermal logic gate, such as thermal logic AND gate. thermal logic NOT gate, thermal logic OR gate are discussed in this paper. Compared with electronic computer, it can work at some special environment, such as high temperature and high pressure Consequently, the heat computer is not only a new special computer, but also a lot of new heat computation cell or device could be invented in the future. The thermal computer and control device are a new thermal energy machines powered by heat energy, it is significant for the environmental protection, energy usage and developed and new discipline development.
