Expert systems (ESs) are being increasingly applied to the fault diagnosis of engines. Based on the idea of ES template (EST), an object-oriented rule-type EST is emphatically studied on such aspects as the object-oriented knowledge representation, the heuristic inference engine with an improved depth-first search (DFS) and the graphical user interface. A diagnositic ES instance for debris on magnetic chip detectors (MCDs) is then created with the EST. The spot running shows that the rule-type EST enhances the abilities of knowledge representation and heuristic inference, and breaks a new way for the rapid construction and implementation of ES. 展开更多

The ratio of Fe-Al compound at the bonding interface of solid steel plate to Al-7graphite slurry was used to characterize the interracial structure of steel-Al-7graphite semi-solid bonding plate quantitatively. The relationship between the ratio of Fe-Al compound at interface and bonding parameters (such as preheat temperature of steel plate, solid fraction of Al-7graphite slurry and rolling speed) was established by artificial neural networks perfectly. The results show that when the bonding parameters are 516 ℃ for preheat temperature of steel plate, 32.5% for solid fraction of Al-7graphite slurry and 12 mm/s for rolling speed, the reasonable ratio of Fe-Al compound corresponding to the largest interfacial shear strength of bonding plate is obtained to be 70.1%. This reasonable ratio of Fe-Al compound is a quantitative criterion of interracial embrittlement, namely, when the ratio of Fe-Al compound at interface is larger than 70.1%, interfacial embrittlement will occur. 展开更多

Here, a system was established to record local field potentials (LFP) and extracellular signal or multiple-unit discharge and behavior synchronously by utilizing electrophysiology and integrated circuit technique. It comprised microelectrodes and micro-driver assembly, analog front end (AFE),while a computer (Pentium III ) was used as the platform for the graphic user interface, which was developed using the LabVIEW programming language. It was designed as a part of ongoing research to develop a portable wireless neural signal recording system. This paper presents a novel system assisting medical dementia examination in a joyful way: the object just needs to play a popular game SSC against the computer during the examination. The SSC game’s target is to detect the player’s reacting capability, which is related closely with dementia. Our system reaches this target with some advantages: there are no temporal and spatial constraints at all. There is no cost, and it can even improve people’s mental status. Hand talk technology and EHMM gesture recognition approach are employed to realize the human computer interface. Experiments showed that this system can evaluate people’s reacting capability effectively and is helpful for initial dementia examination. 展开更多

The interface is able to control and command action with only hand. Four finger motions (left click, right dick, hold, drag) are used to command the interface. Also the authors materialiae cursor movement control using image processing The measure what they use for inference is entropy of Electromyogram (EMG) signal, Gaussian modeling and likelihood estimation. In image processing for cursor control, they use color recognition to get the center point of finger tip from marker, and map the point onto cursor. Accuracy of finger movement inference is over 95% and cursor control works naturally without delay. They materlalize whole system to check its performance and utility. 展开更多

The noninfarcted myocardium underwent significant electrophysiological remodelling as part of the healed myocardial infarction remodelling. This study aimed at investigating the effects of nervous growth factor (NGF) on delayed afterdepolarizations (DADs) and triggered activity (TA) of the noninfarcted myocardium in the myocardial infarcted rabbit model. Rabbits with the left anterior descending coronary artery occlusion were prepared and recovered for 8 weeks (HMI group, n=9). Other rabbits with myocardial infarction were infused NGF to the left stellate ganglion (HMI+NGF group, 400 U/day for 8 weeks, n=8). Myocytes were isolated from regions of the noninfarcted left ventricular free wall. Action potentials and ion currents were recorded with whole-cell patch clamp. The results showed that more DADs and TA events of HMI+NGF myocytes than that of HMI and Ctrl group. Iti and ICa-L of NGF+HMI myocytes were increased significantly compared with HMI and Ctrl cells, which contributed to DADs-related triggered arrhythmia. Comparing with HM1 and Ctrl myocytes, significant prolongations of APD50 and APD90 in HMI+NGF myocytes were found. The results indicated the electrophysiological change of HMI myocytes with NGF infusion. It suggested that more events of DADs and TA in HMI myocytes with NGF treatment. The underlying mechanism may be involved in the increase of Iti and ICa-L. 展开更多

Based on force control, a robotic subsystem has been developed for path automatic generation or path learning. Using a dummy tool and roughly taught guiding points around a part contour, the robot moves in position and force controlled hybrid mode, following the order of the guiding points and with contact force direction and value predefined. During the motion, robot actual position is recorded by the robot controller. After the motion, the recorded position data is used to generate a robot path program automatically. Robot lead-through may be used in the guiding point teaching. Furthermore, a GUI (graphical user interface) is developed on the teach pedant to guide through the guiding point creation and teaching, path learning, program verification and execution. The development has been incorporated into a robotic machining product option. Combination of the robot path learning function and GUI enhances the interaction between the robot and operator and drastically increases the level of robotic ease-of-use. 展开更多

"Hao Shi Duo Mo": An Interactive Museum Exhibit Underpinned by IPOP-AEF

As technology developed, this tool gradually fell out of use in Taiwan. Yet for the older generation, the tool remains a symbol of the belief that hard work will lead to prosperity. This paper aimed to invoke these memories and beliefs through the design of an innovative museum exhibit. To achieve this, we designed a human-computer interface using the form and feel of this important historical artefact. We analyzed the design of this exhibit using the Idea-People-Object-Physical Attract-Engage-Flip (IPOP-AEF) model developed by Pekarik, Schreiber, Hanemann, Richmond, and Mogel (2014). The designed exhibit "Hao Shi Duo Mo" was on show in Taiwan in May 2015. It was well-received by visitors, which was likely due to its fulfilment of each of the six elements of the IPOP-AEF model. This analysis serves as valuable reference for exhibition designer and artists. 展开更多

Developing an efficient and robust lightweight graphic user interface (GUI) for industry process monitoring is always a challenging task. Current implementation methods for embedded GUI are with the matters of real-time processing and ergonomics performance. To address the issue, an embedded lightweight GUI component library design method based on quasar technology embedded (Qt/E) is proposed. First, an entity-relationship (E-R) model for the GUI library is developed to define the functional framework and data coupling relations. Second, a cross-compilation environment is constructed, and the QI/E shared library files are tailored to satisfy the requirements of embedded target systems. Third, by using the signal-slot communication interfaces, a message mapping mechanism that does not require a call-back pointer is developed, and the context switching performance is improved. According to the multi-thread method, the parallel task processing capabilities fbr data collection, calculation, and display are enhanced, and the real-time performance and robustness are guaranteed. Finally, the human-computer interaction process is optimized by a scrolling page method, and the ergonomics pertbrmance is verified by the industrial psychology methods Two numerical cases and five industrial experiments show that the proposed method can increase real-time read-write correction ratios by more than 26% and 29%, compared with Windows-CE-GUl and Android-GUl, respectively. The component library can be tailored to 900 KB and supports 12 hardware platforms. The average session switch time can be controlled within 0.6 s and six key indexes for ergonomics are verified by different industrial applications. 展开更多

In recent years, computer assisted surgery (CAS) systems become more and more common in clinical practices, but few specific design criteria have been proposed for human-computer interface (HCI) in GAS systems. This paper tried to give universal criteria of HCI design for CAS systems through introduction of demonstration application, which is total knee replacement (TKR) with a nonimage-based navigation system. A typical computer assisted process can be divided into four phases: the preoperative planning phase, the intraoperative registration phase, the intraoperative navigation phase and finally the postoperative assessment phase. The interface design for four steps is described respectively in the demonstration application. These criteria this paper summarized can be useful to software developers to achieve reliable and effective interfaces for new CAS systems more easily. 展开更多

Developing materials with excellent properties has been the untiring pursuit of mankind.Metallic glasses(MGs)would be the ideal metallic materials if their size could be scaled up to be comparable to traditional metals.To address this challenge,a variety of approaches have been attempted over the past decades,including thermodynamicsbased alloy,3D printing and the recent artificial intelligenceguided optimal alloy.In this study,a facile and flexible route was demonstrated to manufacture giant MGs(GMGs)with diameters more than 100 mm through the thermo-joining process.The jointed GMG samples feature almost the same performance as the as-cast ones.The ability of manufacturing complex 3D components such as the Chinese Zodiacs was also demonstrated.Our approach might overcome the longstanding problem of glass forming ability(GFA)limitations in alloy systems and pave new concept and route to fabricate size unlimited MGs. 展开更多
