The proposed ROV's GUI platform allows the controller such as fuzzy-logic control systems design to be compared with other controllers such as proportional-integral-derivative (PID) and sliding-mode controller (SMC) systematically and interactively. External disturbance such as sea current can he added to improve the modelling in actual underwater environment. As technology has evolved into various web fields, metaphors have become even more useful and at the same time more sophisticated. A current-generation site not only has an overall theme for the site, but the organization of the information and the navigational scheme is based on a metaphor of the theme, called a Web Metaphor. A web metaphor is a design element that helps the user to leverage their existing experience in the abstract environment of the web. In this study, an approach to a thinking process model for web design is proposed through the concept of metaphors, and a theoretical analysis based on creative thinking for solving design problems is studied. This study aims to provide a glimpse into the world of metaphors and how they can be used in user interface design, to analyze selected examples, and to introduce a model web design process. As the study of the essence of creative thinking in web design is ongoing, diverse possibilities for solving problems in web design can be found through the theoretical modeling of thinking in web design. The m...WUIma -which stands for Wildland-Urban Interface MAPping-is a software tool based on a GIS model (developped with Arcgis functions) designed to map wildland-urban interfaces at a large scale over a large area. The main outputs of WUImap are: (1) the map of twelve types of wildland-urban interfaces existing on the territory; (2) the map of four housing configuration (isolated, scattered, dense and very dense clustered housing) related to wildland-urban interfaces (WUI). These maps are produced according to the method of WUI characterization combining housing configuration and horizontal structure of vegetation. Required inputs to map WUI are the layer of the residential house, the layer defining the fire sensitive area and the layer of the index of aggregation calculated on vegetation. The method of WUI characterization and mapping incorporated into WUImap has been evaluated and applied on real cases with good results. WUlmap has applicability as a decision support aid in a wide variety of land management ranging from fire management and fire prevention to analysis of WUI spread and land cover dynamic. The effect of each component of two alkaline/surfactant/polymer flooding systems on interfacial tension is discussed, in which a low-price natural mixed carboxylate (SDC) is used as the major surfactant. The results indicate that the optimal composition is SDC (0.5%), alkaline NaHCO3/Na2CO3 with mass ratio of 1 (1.0%), and hydrolyzed polyacrylamide(0.1%). In the coreflood experiment, their oil recovery is increased by about 25.2% and 26.8% original oil in place, respectively.展开更多

The present study deals with flow visualization over concave surface for gas turbine applications. The aim is to comprehend qualitatively the flow trends, particularly the Gortler vortices formation and development. Gortler vortices have the shape of mushroom-like vortices regularly spaced at 25 mm. These vortices grow and increase in strength more rapidly along the surface in the case of the same grid of turbulence applied to the measuring section. The curvature radius of the studied blade is 0.5 m and the stream turbulence intensity level is 2.6%. The velocity field is measured by hot wire anemometer in the streamwise direction. The velocity profile is found to be highly distorted by the momentum transfer associated with Gortler vortices. The results are compared to Blasius flow and to literature data for a blade with curvature radius equal to 2 m.展开更多

Developing materials with excellent properties has been the untiring pursuit of mankind.Metallic glasses(MGs)would be the ideal metallic materials if their size could be scaled up to be comparable to traditional metal...Developing materials with excellent properties has been the untiring pursuit of mankind.Metallic glasses(MGs)would be the ideal metallic materials if their size could be scaled up to be comparable to traditional metals.To address this challenge,a variety of approaches have been attempted over the past decades,including thermodynamicsbased alloy,3D printing and the recent artificial intelligenceguided optimal alloy.In this study,a facile and flexible route was demonstrated to manufacture giant MGs(GMGs)with diameters more than 100 mm through the thermo-joining process.The jointed GMG samples feature almost the same performance as the as-cast ones.The ability of manufacturing complex 3D components such as the Chinese Zodiacs was also demonstrated.Our approach might overcome the longstanding problem of glass forming ability(GFA)limitations in alloy systems and pave new concept and route to fabricate size unlimited MGs.展开更多
