For this purpose, the color parameters of Hunter L,a,b and browning index (A42o), and estimated values of chroma, hue angle, AE, Hunter a/b and a ~ b were examined. The changes in color of tomato samples followed both zero and first order kinetic models to describe visual color changes, and &E parameters followed first order kinetic. It was concluded that Hunter axb parameters can be used adequately to follow up the color change of tomato samples during the drying.展开更多

Different plant growth regulators were tested for their potentials in callus induction. The results revealed that treated seeds with SA (sodium azide) at concentration (2.0) mM increased seed germination percentage, seedling height and root length as compare to control treatment. While (4.0) mM concentration cause a reduction in all parameters mentioned above. Concerning to callus induction both cultivars showed a different response against different tested media with varying concentrations of plant growth regulators and despite their variable response to all tested media a combination of (2.0) mg from Kinetin (KIN) and lndol acetic acid (IAA) was found to be the most effective as compare to other treatments. Moreover, when callus transferred to a stressed media the variation was observed in explants fresh weight, and high reduction with the increment of salt level were recorded. Similarly the regeneration efficiency from stressed callus were observed at the level 3.0 and 6.0 dS/m while 9.0 dS/m the callus failed to regenerate plants for all three explants of both tomato cultivars.展开更多

Its economic impact is major for the tomato producer's countries. Prevention, based on early virus detection is the only effective control measure. Monoclonal antibodies appeared to be very useful tool. The authors used for the production of monoclonal antibodies hybridomas technique, by fusing spleen cells of immunized BALB/c mice to PepMV and SP2/O cancerous cells. The aim of this work is to produce hybridomas producers of Mab that could be used for ELISA in Morocco. At the same time, these efforts will serve to decrease expenses of producers concerning phytosanitory control. We obtained 16 hybridomas lines producers of Mab specific for PepMV. They were tested for efficiencies in ELISA and two lines were retained for production of Mab on large scale (1B 11-G 10 and 5A l-G5). Isotyping of these two lines showed that they are belonging to IgG 1 class and easily purified by affinity chromatography in agarose column by protein A. The conjugation of these two antibodies to alkaline phosphatase has been verified by DAS-ELISA. These antibodies will enable to diagnose the disease from infected tomato plants, integrating several serological tests to control it and target the actions of struggles.展开更多

Two vegetable species, cucumber (Cucumis sativus L. cv. Jinchun No. 2) and tomato (Solanurn lycopersicum L. cv. Mandy), were grown in 8 media of SMS in various ratios with perlite or vermiculite. A mixed substrate of peat with perlite (1:1; v:v) was used as the control (CK). The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design under greenhouse conditions. Prior to sowing, some physical and chemical properties of the growing media were determined. Results showed that all the mixtures had desirable physical and chemical properties for their use in nursery tomato and cucumber seedlings except for the T4 (SMS:vermiculite = 1:1; v:v) and the T8 (SMS:perlite = 2:1; v:v) mixtures. Compared with the CK, increased plant height, leaf area, fresh weight, dry weight and index of seedling quality were found in the T3 (SMS:vermiculite = 2:1; v:v) and T6 (SMS:perlite = 4:1; v:v) growing media. SMS should be considered as an alternative for the widely used but expensive and resource-limited peat in greenhouse cultivation.展开更多
