AIM:To analyze the clinicopathologic features and the prognosis of primary intestinal lymphoma.METHODS:Patients were included in the study based on standard diagnostic criteria for primary gastrointesti-nal lymphoma,a...AIM:To analyze the clinicopathologic features and the prognosis of primary intestinal lymphoma.METHODS:Patients were included in the study based on standard diagnostic criteria for primary gastrointesti-nal lymphoma,and were treated at Sun Yat-sen Univer-sity Cancer Centre between 1993 and 2008.RESULTS:The study comprised 81 adults.The most common site was the ileocaecal region.Twenty-two point two percent patients had low-grade B-cell lym-phoma.Fifty-one point nine percent patients had high-grade B-cell lymphoma and 25.9% patients had T-cell lymphoma.Most patients had localized disease.There were more patients and more early stage diseases in the latter period,and the origin sites changed.The ma-jority of patients received the combined treatment,andabout 20% patients only received nonsurgical therapy.The wverall survival and event-free survival rates after 5 years were 71.6% and 60.9% respectively.The mul-tivariate analysis revealed that small intestine and ileo-caecal region localization,B-cell phenotype,and normal lactate dehydrogenase were independent prognostic factors for better patient survival.Surgery based treat-ment did not improve the survival rate.CONCLUSION:Refined stratification of the patients according to the prognostic variables may allow indi-vidualized treatment.Conservative treatment may be an optimal therapeutic modality for selected patients.展开更多

The fundamental principles of homeopathy as proving, symptom picture, curing according to the Law of Similars and the production of homeopathic remedies over the Avogadro number by repeated dilution and succussion are explained to have the same frequencies so that the resonance principle can work. Pathological pathways are cured by using their highly potentized substrates, inhibitors and enzymes, given daily or each second day. This is in contradiction to the normal applied homeopathy. We aimed to explore the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumors （pPNETs）. We retrospectively analyzed the diagnosis and treatment process of a patient who was diagnosed with pPNETs by ...We aimed to explore the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumors （pPNETs）. We retrospectively analyzed the diagnosis and treatment process of a patient who was diagnosed with pPNETs by pathology. This case was a man with soft masses arising from the left chest wall near the armpit and left supraclavicular of a 47-year-old man. The patient mainly presented with the masses which increasing gradually with obvious pain. Needle biopsy showed that they were both metastatic adenocaroinoma. Ultrasonography B revealed blood flow of these two low density placeholders can be seen in the signal, not oppression axillary and vein. Radical resection of the masses were performed. Histopathologic study and immunohistochemistry （IHC） confirmed the masses to be peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumors, pPNETs is a rare malignant small round cell tumor. CT and MRI examination can estimate the resectability of the tumor; Ultrasound B can make sure its inside blood supply and the positional relationship between the mass and the surrounding vasculature. The diagnosis of pPNETs is based primarily on histopathologic study and IHC, especially those with the characteristics of the Homer-Wright and neuroendocrine markers. Radical resection of the tumor is the most effective therapeutic method. The effect of adjuvant chemo-radiation is worth affirmation. Autologous stem cell rescue besides adjuvant chemotherapy has been associated with prolonged survival.展开更多
