Method. Sixty cases of the greater occipital neuralgia were randomized into acupuncture group (30 cases) and western medicine group (30 cases). In acupuncture group, acupuncture was applied on Fengchi ( 风池 GB 20), Chengling (承灵 GB 18), Xuanzhong (悬钟 GB 39) and Ashi (阿是穴), once everyday. In western medicine group, carbamazepine was administrated orally, 100 mg, Bid × 10 days. Results: In acupuncture group, 25 cases (83.3%) were cured, 4 cases (13.3%) remarkably effective, 1 case (3.4%) effective and 0 case ineffective. In western medicine group, 16 cases (53.3%) were cured, 7 cases (23.3%) remarkably effective, 2 cases (6.7%) effective and 5 cases ( 16.7 % ) ineffective. The cured-markedly effective rates of two groups were 96.6 % and 76.6 % respectively, indicating significant difference between two groups (P 〈 0.05). Conclusion: The therapeutic effect with acupuncture on the greater occipital neuralgia was significant compared with that with carbamazepine.展开更多

Of the 18 cases, 5 were male and 15 female, ranging in age from 27 to 58 years and in disease duration from 3 days to 8 years. Main acupoints used were Taiyang (EX-HN 5) to Xiaguan (ST 7, for penetration needling), Xiajiache, Fengchi (GB 20), Yanglingquan (GB 34) and Taichong (LR 3). The treatment was given once daily, with 12 sessions being a therapeutic course. After 2 courses of treatment, of the 18 cases, 10 cases were cured, 7 experienced improvement in pain and one failed in the treatment, with an effective rate of 94.4%. The key point for treating trigeminal neuralgia is applying penetrative needling from EX-HN 5 to ST 7 to achieve ideal needling sensations.展开更多

It is believed that diabetic peripheral neuropathy is rooted from qi-yin deficiency and presented with blood stasis and collateral obstruction; many organs are affected, the liver, kidney, spleen and stomach in particular; the treatment principle concentrates on unblocking collaterals and regulating organs', treatment centers on limb acupoints, Back-Shu point and Front-Mu point; acupuncture treatment should be adopted early as possible and its clinical efficacy is rather good.展开更多

Methods: Ninety patients with PD were randomly divided into a treatment group or a control group, 45 cases in each group. The treatment group was treated by injection of Vitamin K3into Sanyinjiao (SP 6) plus massage on Diji (SP 8). The control group was treated by oral administration of Ibuprofen sustained-release capsule. Before and after the treatment, visual analogue scale (VAS) was adopted to assess pain degree of the patients. The therapeutic effects were observed after continuous treatment of three cycles of menstruation. Results: After treatment, VAS scores were obviously decreased in both groups and the differences were statistically significant (allP<0.05). The difference in VAS score after treatment was more significantin the treatment group than that in the control group (P<0.01). The total effective rate was significantl higher in the treatment group than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Acupoint injection therapy plus massage for PD is effective and better than simple oral administration of Ibuprofen sustained-release capsule.展开更多
