The author puts forth that the Buddhist bell of China is not the imitation of the foreign bells, but a unique creation. As what we know, the earliest Buddhist bell in China is of the time of the North and South Dynasties. Generally Speaking, in the order of their chronology, the bells have four types: Smooth mouth, Shallow wave mouth, Deep wave mouth, out-strerched mouth. Further more, the author discusses the shape changes of bell knobs and considers that the shape of them similar to the top of the Chinese stone tablets and the two shares the similar evolution.展开更多
