METHODS: Forty-two patients undergoing radical colorectal cancer resection with an indication for total parenteral nutrition postoperatively were enrolled in this prospective, double-blind, randomized, controlled study. Patients received total parenteral nutrition supplemented with either soybean oil (LCT; Intralipid, Fresenius-Kabi, SO group, n = 21) or a combination of omega-3 fish oil and soybean oil (LCT:fish oil = 5:1, fish oil; Omegaven, Fresenius-Kabi, FO group, n = 21), up to a total of 1.2 g lipid/kg per day for 7 d postoperatively. A same volume calorie and nitrogen was administrated. Routine blood test, biochemistry, systemic levels of IL-6 and TNF-α, percentage of CD3+, CD4+, and CD8+ lymphocytes were evaluated preoperatively and on postoperative d 1 and 8. Patient outcome was evaluated considering mortality during the hospital stay, length of postoperative hospital stay, and occurrence of infectious complications. RESULTS: Both lipid regimens were well tolerated. No differences between the two groups were noticed in demographics, baseline blood test, biochemistry, serum levels of IL-6 and TNF-α, percentage of CD4+, CD8+ lymphocytes, and ratios of CD4+/CD8+. Compared with those on postoperative d 1, serum IL-6 levels onpostoperative d 8 were significantly depressed in the FO group than in the reference group (-44.43 ± 30.53 vs -8.39 ± 69.08, P = 0.039). Simultaneously, the ratios of CD4+/CD8+ were significantly increased in the FO group (0.92 ± 0.62 vs 0.25 ± 1.22, P = 0.035). In addition, depression of serum TNF-α levels (-0.82 ± 2.71 vs 0.27 ± 1.67, P = 0.125) and elevation of CD3+ and CD4+ lymphocyte percentage (12.85 ± 11.61 vs 3.84 ± 19.62, P = 0.081, 17.80 ± 10.86 vs 9.66 ± 17.55, P = 0.084, respectively) were higher in the FO group than in the reference group. Patients in the FO group trended to need a shorter postoperative hospital stay (17.45 ± 4.80 d vs 19.62 ± 5.59 d, P = 0.19). No statistically significant difference was found when stratified to mortality and occurrence of infectious complications. CONCLUSION: Postoperative supplementation of omega-3 fatty acids may have a favorable effect on the outcomes in colorectal cancer patients undergoing radical resection by lowering the magnitude of inflammatory responses and modulating the immune response.展开更多

T. Pan leaves. [Method] PDA medium was used to isolate the fungus from C. absconditicapsulum leaves; PDA medium, modified KB medium and Czapek medium were adopted to cultivate the isolated strain. [Result] Colonies of the strain were stretched, white, fedora- shaped with smooth and wavy edges, and showed diameter growth on PDA medi- um, modified KB medium and Czapek medium. At the late stage of culture, the colonies turned into cyanish brown on the above media. Spores were black and born on the surface of colonies on PDA medium with blackened medium. While on modified KB medium and Czapek medium, they were born at the edge of colonies with blackened medium. The spores varied in a wide range of shapes, mostly ob- clavate, sometimes spherical or ellipsoidal. The conidia were muriformly septate with transverse or longitudinal or oblique septations. The pseudo-beaks were short and cylindrical. [Conclusion] According to relevant literatures, the isolated strain is a fungus in Alternaria, Dematiaceae, Hylohomycetales, Hyphomycetes, Deuteromycotina.展开更多

The majority of soil nematodes were present in the 0-20 cm soil layers, and for these land use types plant parasites were the most abundant trophic group. In the abandoned cropland the numbers of plant parasites reached a peak on the August sampling date, whereas the cropland and woodland peaked on the October sampling date. Meanwhile, in all land use types the number of total nematodes, bacterivores, plant parasites, and omnivores-predators was negatively (P < 0.05, except for bacterivores in cropland, which was not significant) correlated with bulk density, and positively (P < 0.05, except for fungivores in abandoned cropland, which was not significant) correlated with total organic carbon and total nitrogen.展开更多

For sterilization, 0.1% (w/v) mercuric chloride (HgCl2) solution for 8 to 10 min was the optimal treatment for this poplar cultivation. The effects of benzyladenine (BA) and α-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) added to Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium were tested on organogenesis. The highest regeneration rate and numbers of shoots/explant from shoot tips (96.7%, 9.8) and leaves (90.0%, 8.7) were obtained on the half-strength MS medium supplemented with 0.5 mg/L BA and 0.1 mg/L NAA. The optimal medium for in vitro rooting of shoots was on a half-strength MS medium containing 1 mg/L indolebutyric acid (IBA) with the highest rooting frequency (93.3%) and numbers of roots/explant (8.2). For acclimatization, in vitro rooted plantlets were transferred to plastic cups containing vermiculite and peat (1: 1). After acclimatization, transplanted plantlets grew well in a shade house. Therefore, we believe that this efficient plant regeneration protocol especially by leaf explants is very important for in vitro clonal propagation of Populus×euramericana 'Neva'.展开更多

METHODS: Upregulated CD133 expression in tumorigenesis of colorectal cancer cell lines (Lovo, Colo205, Caco-2, HCT116 and SW620) was analyzed by flow cytometry. Human colon cancer tissue samples were stained with anti-human CD133. SW620 cells were sorted according to the CD133 expression level measured by fluorescence-activated cell sorting. Spheroids of colorectal cancer cells were cultured with the hanging drop. Expression of CD133 and Lgr5 in spheroids of colorectal cancer cells and monolayer culture was detected by RT-qPCR. Spheroids of colorectal cancer cells were analyzed using anti-human CD133 with immunohistochemical staining. RESULTS: CD133 antigen was expressed in colorectal cancer cell lines (Lovo, Colo205, Caco-2, HCT116 and SW620) as well as in primary and metastatic human colon cancer tissues. However, the CD133 was differently expressed in these cell lines and tissues. The expression levels of CD133 and Lgr5 were significantly higher in spheroids of parental, CD133hi and CD133-cells than in their monolayer culture at the mRNA level (P < 0.05). Immunohistochemical staining of spheroids of CD133-cells showed that CD133 was highly expressed in colorectal cancer cell lines. CONCLUSION: Upregulated CD133 expression plays a role in tumorigenesis colorectal cancer cells, which may promote the expression of other critical genes that can drive tumorigenesis.展开更多

Involvement of the gastrointestinal tract is frequent and may occur at any level. The clinical manifestations have previously been attributed to motility disorders caused by smooth muscle damage, but histologic evidence of alterations has been scarce and conflicting. A neural factor has also been hypothesized. In the upper digestive tract, dysphagia, heartburn, regurgitation and dyspepsia are the most common complaints, while in the lower tract, abdominal pain, bloating and changes in bowel habits are often reported. Digestive symptoms may be the first sign of dystrophic disease and may precede the rnusculo-skeletal features. The impairment of gastrointestinal function may be sometimes so gradual that the patients adapt to it with little awareness of symptoms. In such cases routine endoscopic and ultrasonographic evaluations are not sufficient and targeted techniques (electrogastrography, manornetry, electromyography, functional ultrasonography, scintigraphy, etc.) are needed. There is a low correlation between the degree of skeletal muscle involvement and the presence and severity of gastrointestinal disturbances whereas a positive correlation with the duration of the skeletal muscle disease has been reported. The drugs recommended for treating the gastrointestinal complaints such as prokinetic, antidyspeptic drugs and laxatives, are mainly aimed at correcting the motility disorders. Gastrointestinal involvement in MD remains a complex and intriguing condition since many important problems are still unsolved. Further studies concentrating on genetic aspects, early diagnostic techniques and the development of new therapeutic strategies are needed to improve our management of the gastrointestinal manifestations of MD.展开更多

We examined Porphyra umbilicalis (Linnaeus) Kiitzing thalli from the vertical extremes in elevation of an intertidal population (i.e. upper and lower intertidal zones) to determine whether Porphyra thalli acclimate to different vertical elevations on the shore with different patterns of nitrate uptake and nitrate reductase (NR) and glutamine synthetase (GS) activities in response to different degrees of emersion stress. We found that the nitrate uptake and NR recovery in the emersed tissues took longer in lower intertidal sub-population than in upper intertidal sub-population; and GS activity was also significantly affected by emersion and, interestingly, such an activity was enhanced by emersion of thalli from both upper and lower intertidal zones. These results sug- gested that intta-population variability in post-emersion recovery of physiological functions such as nutrient uptake and NR activity enables local adaptation and contributes to the wide vertical distribution ofP. umbilicalis. The high GS activity during periodic emer- sion stress may be a protective mechanism enabling P umbilicalis to assimilate nitrogen quickly when it again becomes available, and may also be an evidence ofphotorespiration during emersion.展开更多

In this study, the hydrodynamic coefficient of six knotless PE netting panels with different solidity ratios were assessed in a flume tank under various attack angles of netting from 0?(parallel to flow) to 90?(perpendicular to flow) and current speeds from 40 cm s^(-1) to 130 cm s^(-1). It was found that the drag coefficient was related to Reynolds number, solidity ratio and attack angle of netting. The solidity ratio was positively related with drag coefficient for netting panel perpendicular to flow, whereas when setting the netting panel parallel to the flow the opposite result was obtained. For netting panels placed at an angle to the flow, the lift coefficient reached the maximum at an attack angle of 50? and then decreased as the attack angle further increased. The solidity ratio had a dual influence on drag coefficient of inclined netting panels. Compared to result in the literature, the normal drag coefficient of knotless PE netting measured in this study is larger than that of nylon netting or Dyneema netting.展开更多

METHODS: Long Expand Template polymerase chain reaction (PCR) system was used to analyze CTG trinucleotide repeat numbers located in the 3' untranslated region of MTPK on chromosome 19q13.2-3 in both peripheral white cells and muscles of the suspected mother and the other two DM patients in the family. The tissues of her abortus and blood of a health woman were detected, too. RESULTS: CTG repeats in both peripheral white cells and muscles of the suspected mother and the tissue of abortus were higher than normal range of CTG repeat number. There is no significant difference between blood and muscle samples. High CTG repeats were detected in blood and muscles of the typical DM members in the family, but in the blood sample of control, CTG repeats is normal. CONCLUSION: CTG trinucleotide analyses and antenatal examination should be done in pregnant with a DM family history, in order to reduce the birth rate of DM offspring.展开更多

The geometry of the array is an important parameter, which influences the morphology and adhesion of cells. Here, we investigate the effects of array geometry on the morphology of MCF7 cancer cells and MCF10A normal-like epithelial cells. Different gallium phosphide nanowire array-geometries were produced by varying the nanowire density and diameter. Our results show that the cell size is smaller on nanowires compared to flat gallium phosphide. The cell area decreases with increasing the nanowire density on the substrate. We observed an effect of the nanowire diameter on MCF10A cells, with a decreased cell area on 40 nm diameter nanowires, compared to 60 and 80 nm diameter nanowires in high-density arrays. The focal adhesion morphology depends on the extent to which cells are contacting the substrate. For low nanowire densities and diameters, ceils are lying on the substrate and we observed large focal adhesions at the cell edges. In contrast, for high nanowire densities and diameters, cells are lying on top of the nanowires and we observed point-like focal adhesions distributed over the whole cell. Our results constitute a step towards the ability to fine-tune cell behavior on nanowire arrays.展开更多

The high GS activity during periodic emer- sion stress may be a protective mechanism enabling P umbilicalis to assimilate nitrogen quickly when it again becomes available, and may also be an evidence ofphotorespiration during emersion.

文摘Knotless polyethylene(PE) netting has been widely used in aquaculture cages and fishing gears, especially in Japan. Compared to result in the literature, the normal drag coefficient of knotless PE netting measured in this study is larger than that of nylon netting or Dyneema netting.

文摘The major factors affecting plant regeneration in suspension culture were investigated. The resultsshow that,in order for cell clusters to differentiate directly in liquid medium,it is essential toestablish an embryogenic callus line with high potential for plant regeneration.Embryogenic calliwere suspended in AA basic medium supplemented with 2,4-D 1 mg/L,6-benzylaminopurine 0.5mg/L,CH 300 mg/L,sucrose 3% and mannitol 3% and subcultured 7 days for each passage.Aftermore than 6 months of culturing,a fine suspension culture of small cell clusters(SCC)wasestablished. The SCC,80-270μin diameter, were then transferred to a liquid medium(MSsupplemented with NAA 0.01 mg/L and 4-pyridylurae(4-PU)0.5 mg/L)and allowed to grow instationary culture. Finally direct differentiation from SCC was observed.Several factors in suspension-subculture exerted strong after-effects on differentiation ofSCC.Basicmedia, kinds and concentration combinations of auxin and cytokinin in the subculture media, duration of shaking at each subculture passage, and amount of packed cell volume transferred to newmedium at each subculture passage and so on,all these affected the frequency of differentiation ofSCC.Higher concentrations of NAA and kinetin in the differentiation medium inhibited the directdifferentiation of SCC.Low concentrations(0.01-0.1 mg/L)of NAA with 4-PU in thedifferentiation medium were helpful for the direct differentiation of SCC.The differentiated clusterspossessed typical embryogenic structure from which normal plantlets could develop after transferringto agar medium.
文摘OBJECTIVE: To observe trinucleotide repeat number, (CTG)n in the 3'-untranslated region of the myotonic protein kinase (MTPK) gene in a clinically suspected woman with myotonic dystrophy (DM) family history and her abortus, in order to confirm the necessity of exerting antenatal examination in patients or suspected individuals with DM family history. CONCLUSION: CTG trinucleotide analyses and antenatal examination should be done in pregnant with a DM family history, in order to reduce the birth rate of DM offspring.

文摘It is a comparatively convenient technique to investigate the motion of a particle with the help of the differential geometry the-ory,rather than directly decomposing the motion in the Cartesian coordinates. The new model of three-dimensional (3D) guidance problem for interceptors is presented in this paper, based on the classical differential geometry curve theory.Firstly, the kinematical equations of the line of sight (LOS) are gained by carefully investigating the rotation principle of LOS,the kinematic equations of LOS are established, and the concepts of curvature and torsion of LOS are proposed.Simultaneously, the new relative dynamic equations between interceptor and target are constructed.Secondly,it is found that there is an instan-taneous rotation plane of LOS (IRPL) in the space,in which two-dimensional (2D) guidance laws could be constructed to solve 3D interception guidance problems. The spatial 3D true proportional navigation (TPN) guidance law could be directly introduced in IRPL without approximation and linearization for dimension-reduced 2D TPN.In addition, the new series of augmented TPN (APN) and LOS angular acceleration guidance laws (AAG) could also be gained in IRPL.After that, the dif-ferential geometric guidance commands (DGGC) of guidance laws in IRPL are advanced, and we prove that the guidance commands in arc-length system proposed by Chiou and Kuo are just a special case of DGGC.Moreover, the performance of the original guidance laws will be reduced after the differential geometric transformation. At last,an exoatmospheric intercep-tion is taken for simulation to demonstrate the differential geometric modeling proposed in this paper.

文摘Objective:Knowledge about the impact of metabolic disturbances and parenteral nutrition(PN)characteristics on the survival of cancer patients receiving PN is limited. We aimed to assess the association between clinical and PN characteristics and survival in colorectal-cancer patients receiving PN support. Methods:Our study included 572 consecutive colorectal-cancer patients who had received PN support between 2008 and 2013.Patient characteristics, body mass index,weight,medical/surgical history, indication for PN,PN data and survival were recorded.Associations between clinical and PN characteristics and survival were analysed with important confounding factors. Results:The final cohort included 437 evaluable patients, with a mean age of 57 years.Eighty-one percent of the study population had advanced stage of colorectal cancer.Unstable weight(weight change≥2.5%)prior to PN initiation[hazard ratio(HR)=1.41,P=0.023]was adversely associated with survival after adjusting for multiple factors including cancer stage.Bowel obstruction(HR=1.75,P=0.017)as a PN indication was associated with worse survival when compared with without bowel obstruction.Higher PN amino acid by ideal body weight(g•kg^(-1))(HR=0.59,P=0.029)was associated with longer survival, whereas a higher percentage of non-PN intravenous calories(HR=1.04,P=0.011)was associated with shorter survival independently of confounding factors. Conclusions:Body mass index and weight stability can be useful nutritional indices for survival prediction in cancer patients receiving PN.PN planning should take into account of non-PN calories to achieve optimal energy support and balance.Future research is needed to define optimal PN amino-acid requirement and energy balance.

文摘Vertical nanowire arrays are increasingly investigated for their applications in steering cell behavior. Our results constitute a step towards the ability to fine-tune cell behavior on nanowire arrays.
