Industrial PC (IPC) is widely used as not only Input/Output Controller (IOC) but also device controller. Besides industrial PC, PLC and microcontroller are also used as device controllers. The software for industrial PC based device controller is developed based on VxWorks real-time operating system. The software for PLC and microcontroller are written with ladder software package and assemble language, respectively. PC with Linux and SUN workstation with Solaris are used as operator interfaces (OPI). High level control is made up of some EPICS tools and Tcl/Tk scripts. 展开更多

Dosimetric evaluation of a beam matching procedure

Objective: The dosimetric characteristics for linear accelerators with the same model, and nominal energy are known to be very similar, as long as the machines are unaltered from the manufacturer's original specifications. In this preliminary study, a quantitative investigation of the similarity in the basic photon and electron dosimetry data from the Siemens Oncor linear accelerators at our hospital(Children's Cancer Hospital, Cairo, Egypt) was reported. Methods: The output factor(OF), wedge factors(WF), percentage depth dose(PDD), and beam profile for the 6 and 10 MV photon beams were measured. Results: The measured output factors varied by less than about 1% for each field size. The difference between the maximum and minimum PDD values at each depth was less than about 1%. The difference between the beam flattnes and symetry was no more than 1% at all off-axis distances. For electron the results showed that the PDD, OF, and the beam profiles were matched within 1% differences. Conclusion: These results strongly suggest that it is feasible to establish one reference photon and electron dosimetry data set for the two machines and nominal energies. 展开更多

With the stat-of-the-art laser technique, the quality of electron beam generated from LPA (laser-plasma accelerator) is now becoming much better. The natural merits of electron beam from LPA, e.g., high peak current... With the stat-of-the-art laser technique, the quality of electron beam generated from LPA (laser-plasma accelerator) is now becoming much better. The natural merits of electron beam from LPA, e.g., high peak current, ultra-low emittance and ultra-short bunch length, etc., pave the way to the novel light sources, especially in the realm of developing much more compact x-ray light sources, e.g., table-top XFEL (x-ray free-electron laser). However, the radiation power is limited by the rather larger energy spread than conventional radio-frequency electron LINAC (linear accelerator). Luckily, much more power could be extracted by using the undulator with transverse gradient when energy spread effect could be compensated. In this paper, we introduce a novel soit x-ray light source driven by LPA together with TGU (transverse gradient undulator) technique, meanwhile we present a simple idea on how to achieve much higher rep-rate (e.g., -100 kHz) FELs (free-electron lasers) boosted by TGU based on storage rings. 展开更多
