This paper describes a novel method of online composite shape recognition interms of the relevance feedback technology to capture a user's intentions incrementally, and adynamic user modeling method to adapt to various users' styles. First, the relevance feedback isadapted to refine the recognition results and reduce the ambiguity incrementally based on theestablishment of a feature-based vector model of a user's sketches. Secondly, a dynamic usermodeling is introduced to model the user's sketching habits based on recording and analyzinghistorical information incrementally. A model-based matching strategy is also employed in the methodto recognize sketches dynamically. Experiments prove that the proposed method is both effective andefficient. 展开更多

A 0.7 mm-thick wavy γ-TiAl sheet with fully lamellar microstructure was fabricated by hot pressing Ti/Al alternate foils with heat treatment of 640 °C, 15 h+850 °C, 35 h+1350 °C, 2 h. The intermetallic compounds formed during heat treatments were identified by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). TiAl3 was the only observed phase at the Ti/Al interface when Al foils were not consumed. After being annealed at 850 °C for 35 h, the microstructure was composed of α-Ti, α2-Ti3Al, γ-TiAl and TiAl2. A fully lamellar microstructure formed after annealing at 1350 °C. Most of the angles between the lamellar interface and the sheet plane are below 30°. Using thinner starting foils is favorable to produce sheets with fine microstructure. 展开更多

The airborne pollen grains of Afyon have been studied for a two_year period (1999-2000) with a Durham sampler. A total of 14 367 pollen grains belonging to 40 taxa have been identified and recorded with some unidentified ones. Of them, 6 732 were identified in 1999 and 7 635 in 2000. Of the total pollen grains, 69.67% were arboreal, 26.64% non_arboreal and 3.68 % unidentified. The majority of the investigated pollen grains were from Pinus, Gramineae, Cupressaceae, Platanus , Chenopodiaceae/Amaranthaceae, Quercus, Ailanthus, Moraceae, Juglans , Salix, Cedrus and Rosaceae. In this study was to investigate, by phase-transfer catalysis, the activity of single and mixed ammonium and phosphonium salts grafted on a 揼el-type?styrene-7% divinylbenzene copolymer in the oxidation of benzyl alcohol with hydrogen peroxide. A wide variety of catalysts with different quaternary groups and different quaternary chain length substituents were examined. The activity of single 搊nium?salts increases as a consequence of the association of ammonium and phosphonium salts grafted on the same polymeric support. The activity of polymer-supported ammonium and phosphonium salts increases with the number of carbon atoms contained in the alkyl radicals of the onium and of the functionalization degree with phosphonium groups. 展开更多

The three lowest adiabatic potential energy surfaces correlating asymptotically with Cl(^2p)+H2 have been transformed to adiabatic representation, which leads to a fourth coupling potential for non-linear geometries. In addition, the spin-orbit coupling surfaces have also been computed using the Breit-Pauli Hamiltonian. Properties of the new potential are described. Reaction dynamics based on the new potential agrees with the recent experimental results quite well. 展开更多

Three types of the soil-structure interaction are used for structure analysis loaded by seismic effects. An example of the real RC building is used to demonstrate differences in the dynamic response results in the calculation of internal forces and displacements. Variant three options of the soil models were used as a building supporting structure. In the case of soil model A, the soil was modelled by using of equivalent stiffness values, stemming from the theory of a rigid circular disc on an elastic homogeneous half-space. Non-uniformly modelled vertical stiffness of the soil according to the Boussinesq model was used for model B. Both models A and B are characterised by the "averaged" soil model on the bases of spring constants. Model C was used for the soil better corresponding to its actual composition by the Winkler-Pasternak theory. Model C, where the actual layered soil is considered, is modelled more accurately than for the "averaged" soil of models A and B. The dynamic response of models operating with "averaged" values of rigid and soft soil layers is markedly shifted to the conservative smaller values of internal forces. The building response tbr model C in dynamic displacements is significantly higher than for the both models A and B. 展开更多

However, an adiabatic sound speed, cs = √P/ρ, is usually superluminal in strangeon matter, and the dynamic response of a strangeon star (e.g., binary merger) is not tractable in numerical simulations. In this study, we examined signal propagation in strangeon matter and calculate the actual propagation speed, Csignal. We found that the causality condition, Csignal 〈 c, is satisfied and the signal speed is presented as a function of stellar radius. 展开更多

On a reaction-diffusion model for sterile insect release method on a bounded domain

We consider a system of partial differential equations that describes the interaction of the sterile and fertile species undergoing the sterile insect release method (SIRM). Unlike in the previous work [M. A. Lewis and P. van den Driessche, Waves of extinction from sterile insect release, Math. Biosci. 5 (1992) 221 247] where the habitat is assumed to be the one-dimensional whole space ~, we consider this system in a bounded one- dimensional domain (interval). Our goal is to derive sufficient conditions for success of the SIRM. We show the existence of the fertile-free steady state and prove its stability. Using the releasing rate as the parameter, and by a saddle-node bifurcation analysis, we obtain conditions for existence of two co-persistence steady states, one stable and the other unstable. Biological implications of our mathematical results are that: (i) when the fertile population is at low level, the SIRM, even with small releasing rate, can successfully eradicate the fertile insects; (ii) when the fertile population is at a higher level, the SIRM can succeed as long as the strength of the sterile releasing is large enough, while the method may also fail if the releasing is not sufficient. 展开更多
