Microstruc... 17(Cu-10Ni)-(NiFe2O4-10NiO) cermets were prepared by cold pressing and sintering in nitrogen atmosphere, and tested as inert anode for aluminum electrolysis at 960 °C for 10 and 40 h, respectively. Microstructures and phase compositions of the as-sintered and post-electrolyzed samples were investigated. The impurity contents in the electrolyte and the cathode metal were detected in order to investigate the corrosion characteristic of the elements of Fe, Ni and Cu in the anode. A dense NiFe2O4 layer was observed on the surface of anode and thickened with prolonging the electrolysis time. In the newly formed dense ceramic layer, NiO phase disappeared as a result of being swallowed by NiFe2O4 phase, and the metal phase was oxidized during the electrolysis in which Cu element showed a higher dissolution rate than Fe and Ni elements. The formation process of the dense ceramic layer during the electrolysis was presented and explained by using the corrosion mode of the metal phase and the transformation mechanism from NiO phase to NiFe2O4 phase. 展开更多

A series of microcrystalline silicon thin films were fabricated by very high frequency plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (VHF-PECVD) at different silane concentrations in a P chamber. Through analysis of the structural and electrical properties of these materials,we conclude that the photosensitivity slightly decreased then increased as the silane concentration increased,while the crystalline volume fraction indicates the opposite change. Results of XRD indicate that thin films have a (220) preferable orientation under certain conditions. Microcrystalline silicon solar cells with conversion efficiency 4. 7% and micromorph tandem solar cells 8.5% were fabricated by VHF-PECVD (p layer and i layer of microcrystalline silicon solar cells were deposited in P chamber), respectively. 展开更多

Effect of Potassium Oleate on Rheological Behavior of Cationic Guar in Aqueous Solution with Varying Temperatures

The rheology of the cationic guar (CG) solution was measured and the effects of potassium oleate (KOA) upon the rheological properties of CG solution were studied. The steady shear viscosity measurement has shown that the viscosity of CG solution increased dramatically in the presence of KOA. The viscosity enhancement of KOA upon CG solution can be approximate three orders in magnitude. The gel-like formation of CG solution is observed at the high concentration of KOA. The excess addition of KOA results in the phase separation of CG solution. The oscillatory rheological measurement has shown that the crossover modulus Gc (corresponding to either storage modulus G' or loss modulus G'' at the frequency wc where G' equals G'') for CG solution, decreases with the increasing the concentration of KOA in solution. On the other hand, the apparent relaxation time 7-app (=1/wc) increases with increasing the concentration of KOA in solution. Our experimental results suggest that for surfaetant such as KOA which has a stronger tendency to form micelles in solution, the cooperative hydrophobic interaction of polymer bound to surfactants is less necessary to the formation of aggregates in solution, especially at the high concentration of surfactants. In fact, with the increase of the concentration of KOA, the number of the aggregates which associate polymer together decreases whereas the intensity of these aggregates increases. The effect of temperature upon the aggregation is also significant. With the increase of temperature, the number of the aggregates increases whereas the intensity of these aggregates decreases, probably because the ionization of KOA increases at high temperature. 展开更多

Numerical simulations of gas–liquid two-phase flow and alumina transport process in an aluminum reduction cell were conducted to investigate the effects of anode configurations on the bath flow, gas volume fraction and alumina content distributions. An Euler–Euler two-fluid model was employed coupled with a species transport equation for alumina content. Three different anode configurations such as anode without a slot, anode with a longitudinal slot and anode with a transversal slot were studied in the simulation. The simulation results clearly show that the slots can reduce the bath velocity and promote the releasing of the anode gas, but can not contribute to the uniformity of the alumina content. Comparisons of the effects between the longitudinal and transversal slots indicate that the longitudinal slot is better in terms of gas–liquid flow but is disadvantageous for alumina mixing and transport process due to a decrease of anode gas under the anode bottom surface. It is demonstrated from the simulations that the mixing and transfer characteristics of alumina are controlled to great extent by the anode gas forces while the electromagnetic forces(EMFs) play the second role. 展开更多

This paper discusses the gravitation waveforms of binaries coalescence into intermediate mass black holes(about 30 times of the solar mass).We focus on the non-spinning intermediate mass black hole located less than 100 Mpc from earth.By comparing two simulation waveforms(effective one body numerical relativity waveform(EOBNR),phenomenological waveform),we discuss the relationship between the effective distance and frequency;and through analyzing large amounts of data in event,we find that the phenomenological waveform is much smoother than EOBNR waveform,and has higher accuracy at the same effective distance. 展开更多

Photocatalytic degradation of gaseous pollutants on Bi-based semiconductors under solar lightirradiation has attracted significant attention.However,their application in gaseous straight-chainalkane purification is still rare.Here,a series of Bi/BiOBr composites were solvothermally synthe-sized and applied in solar-light-driven photocatalytic degradation of gaseous n-hexane.The charac-terization results revealed that both increasing number of functional groups of alcohol solvent(from methanol and ethylene glycol to glycerol)and solvothermal temperature(from 160 and 180to 200℃)facilitated the in-situ formation of metallic Bi nanospheres on BiOBr nanoplates withexposed(110)facets.Meanwhile,chemical bonding between Bi and BiOBr was observed on theseexposed facets that resulted in the formation of surface oxygen vacancy.Furthermore,the synergis-tic effect of optimum surface oxygen vacancy on exposed(110)facets led to a high visible light re-sponse,narrow band gap,great photocurrent,low recombination rate of the charge carriers,andstrong·O2-and h*formation,all of which resulted in the highest removal efficiency of 97.4%within120 min of 15 ppmv of n-hexane on Bi/BiOBr.Our findings efficiently broaden the application ofBi-based photocatalysis technology in the purification of gaseous straight-chain pollutants emittedby the petrochemical industry. 展开更多

To further reveal the variation laws of ultraviolet radiation to provide better service for production and people's life, based on observation data of solar ultraviolet radiation obtained by Xilinhot National Climate Observatory in 2007-2012, the variation laws of solar ultraviolet radiation and its relationship with meteorological factors in different cloud conditions in Xilinhote were analyzed by using the mathematical and statistical methods and SPSS 11.5 software. The results showed that the solar ultraviolet radiation had obvious daily, seasonal and annual variations; the solar ultraviolet radiation was weak in the morning and evening but strong at noon; the maximum appeared from June to August, while the minimum appeared in November and December. It had significant correlation with total solar radiation, photosynthetically active radiation, air temperature, air humidity and ground temperature (0-5 cm). At present, the maximum intensity of ultraviolet radiation (UV-B) was 0.20-1.91 W/m2 from January to March and 0.13-1.43 W/m2 from October to De- cember respectively, which were lower than the safety standard for people and animals (2 W/mZ). However, the maximum might appear from April to September, ranging from 2.02 to 3.39 W/m2, which was easy to bring a threat and harm to people and animals. 展开更多

Metal atoms atomically dispersed on an inorganic metal‐based support compose a unique category of single atom catalysts(SACs)and have important applications in catalytic photoreduction reactions,including H_(2) evolution reaction,CO_(2) reduction reaction,and N_(2) reduction reaction.In this minreview,we summarized the typical metal‐support interaction(M‐SI)patterns for successful anchoring of single‐atom metals on metallic compound supports.Subsequently,the contribution of the dispersed single metal atoms and M‐SI to photocatalytic reactions with improved activity,selectivity,and stability are highlighted,such as by accelerating charge transfer,regulating band structure of the support,acting as the reductive sites,and/or increasing catalytic selectivity.Finally,some challenges and perspectives of future development are proposed.We anticipate that this minireview will be a beneficial supplement for a comprehensive perception of metal‐based material supported SACs and their application in heterogeneous photo‐reductive catalysis. 展开更多

La(0.6)Sr(0.4)Co(0.2)Fe(0.8)O(3-δ)(LSCF) anodes were infiltrated by Gd(0.2)Ce(0.8)O(1.9)GDC) nanoparticles to improve the oxygen evolution reaction(OER) performance of solid oxide electrolysis cells(SOECs) in CO2 electroreduction. The effect of GDC loading was investigated, and 10 wt% GDC nanoparticle infiltration of the LSCF(10 GDC/LSCF) anode results in the highest OER performance. Electrochemical impedance spectra measurements indicate that the infiltration by GDC nanoparticles greatly decreases the polarization resistance of the SOECs with the 10 GDC/LSCF anodes. The following distribution of relaxation time analysis suggests that four individual electrode processes are involved in the OER and that all of them are accelerated on the 10 GDC/LSCF anode. Three phase boundaries, surface oxygen vacancies, and bulk oxygen mobility increased, based on scanning electron microscopy and temperature-programmed desorption of O2 characterizations, and contributed to the enhancement of the four electrode processes of the OER and electrochemical performance of SOECs. 展开更多

The properties of aqueous two-phase system (ATPS) of mixed solution containing gemini cationic surfactant trimethylene-1,3-bis(dodecyldimethyl ammonium) bromide (12-3-12, 2Br-) and traditional anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) with or without added salt have been studied. An ATPS is formed in a narrow region of the ternary phase diagram different from that of traditional aqueous cationic-anionic surfactant systems. In ATPS region, the lowest total concentration of surfactants varies with the mixing ratio of geminis to SDS. Photographs obtained from freeze-etching, negative-staining and transmission electron microscopy show that the microstructures of two phases are different from each other. Micelles and vesicles can coexist in a single phase. The addition of salts can change the phase diagram of ATPS. Furthermore, the added salts promote the aggregation of rod-like micelles to form coarse network structure that increase the viscosity of solutions. The negative ions of the added salts are the determining factor. 展开更多

Solar-driven CO_(2) reduction is an efficient way to convert sustainable solar energy and massive CO_(2) to renewable solar fuels,such as CH_(4),HCOOH,HCHO,and CH_(3)OH,etc.Up to now,significant research efforts have been devoted to exploring the reaction path and developing the photocatalysts.In heterogeneous photocatalysis,among the semiconductor-based photocatalysts,titania(TiO_(2)),as an inexpensive and practically sustainable metal oxides,remains the most extensively studied photocatalyst over the past decades.In this review,we summarize the most recent advances in the solar-driven CO_(2) reduction using TiO_(2)-based photocatalysts,which include the fabrication of heterojunction,surface functional modification,band structure engineering,and morphology design,aiming to improve the CO_(2) conversion efficiency and selectivity to the desired product.Additionally,photoelectrochemical and photothermal approaches are introduced and the fundamental principles to activate and enhance the performance of TiO_(2) for the specific reaction are discussed.The exploration of the solar-driven approaches and discussion on the underlying mechanism allow the comprehensive understanding of CO_(2) photoreduction,that can lead to a rational design and synthesis of TiO_(2)-based photocatalysts. 展开更多

Planar films of pure and Ti^(4+)-dopedβ-Fe_(2)O_(3)were prepared by a spray pyrolysis method.X-ray diffraction patterns and Raman spectra of the metastableβ-Fe_(2)O_(3)film showed that its thermal stability was significantly improved because of covalent bonds in the interfaces between the film and substrate,while only weak Van der Waals bonds existed at the interfaces within the particle-assembledβ-Fe_(2)O_(3)film prepared by electrophoretic deposition.The as-prepared planar films were thus able to withstand higher annealing temperature and stronger laser irradiation power in comparison with theβ-Fe_(2)O_(3)particle-assembly.Ti^(4+)doping was used to increase the concentration of carriers in the metastableβ-Fe_(2)O_(3)film.Compared with pureβ-Fe_(2)O_(3)photoanodes,the highest saturated photocurrent for water splitting over the Ti^(4+)-dopedβ-Fe_(2)O_(3)photoanode was increased by a factor of approximately three.Theβ-Fe_(2)O_(3)photoanode exhibited photochemical stability for water splitting for a duration exceeding 100 h,which indicates its important potential application in solar energy conversion. 展开更多
