The numerical simulation of the granules movement process is proceeded, and the vibration response of a free free uniform beam is obtained for the case when all granules act on it. Through this method, the effect on vibration absorption of impaction is investigated. The simulational data show that multi gra nule vertical impaction is not sensitive to the movement clearance. The vibration absorption is also very well when the clearance changes within a large range. Therefore, the phenomenon that the vibration magnitude may increase if the clearance in a single impact body is improperly selected will not happen. The effect of vibration suppression in the range of middle and high frequencies(2 500~6 000 Hz) is better than that in the range of low frequency(<2 500 Hz). It indicates that the effect on vibration absorption of multi granule can well restrain the vibration of middle and high frequencies.展开更多

The combined effects of VAM, Zn and P application on the growth and translocation of nutrients in wheat were investigated using a calcareous soil marginal in P and Zn concentrations. Wheat was grown in a growth chamber under various combinations of VAM, P and Zn with measurements done at heading stage and maturity.Vegetative dry matter accumulation was increased by P application and reduced by VAM treatments. Both P and VAM increased grain yield. Zinc concentration and uptake were generally reduced by P addition and VAM infection. There were no antagonistic effects of Zn on P acquisition in the plant. The role of VAM in enhancing the translocation of Zn and P from root to grain would be beneficial to seed setting and yield.展开更多

Both mulberry(Morus alba) and Chinese prickly ash(Zanthoxylum bungeanum) are AM-associated plants, widely distributed in southwest China. It was hypothesized that if the nutrient absorption processes were efficiently associated with AM symbiosis in both mulberry and Chinese prickly ash, foliar nutrient concentrations—especially calcium(Ca)—would be primarily determined by the soil conditions in different regions. To investigate this, AM colonization levels of soils, nutrient levels in soils and leaves, and δ^(13)C values of leaves were analyzed for mulberry and Chinese prickly ash.In this study, spore density in soils with low p H was higher than that in soils with high p H. The average concentrations of sugar delivered to roots in both mulberry and Chinese prickly ash in soil with relatively low p H and soil extractable cations were higher than those in other areas. The values of foliar δ^(13)C in both mulberry and Chinese prickly ash in low soil-pH and soil extractable cations were lower than those in contrast areas, indicating that water availability was impacted by soil characteristics. The efficiency in AM-mediated processes might play an important role in translocation between soil nutrients and plant tissue. The results suggest uptake and translocation of nutrients, especially Ca, in AM-associated plants may be affected by an efficiency of AM-mediated processes. Since Sr does not appear to be similarly affected, expressing Ca and other nutrient concentrations relative to Sr could be used to evaluate whether the uptake and translocation of Ca and other nutrients are affected by AM-mediated processes.展开更多

We find that the one- and two-photon t, ransient absorption and amplification properties are quite sensitive to the vacuum-induced coherence. It is also shown that the one- and two-photon absorption spectra of the transient process can be dramatically affected by modulating the relative phase of the applied fields. By apprdpriately choosing the relative phase, the amplification of the probe field can be achieved.展开更多

Experi- ments on the relationship between the host plant and AM in soil or in sterile root-organ culture have provided clear evidence that the extraradical mycelia of AM fungi uptake various forms of nitrogen (N) and transport the assimilated N to the roots of the host plant. However, the uptake mechanisms of various forms of N and its translocation and transfer from the fungus to the host are virtually unknown. Therefore, there is a dearth of integrated models describing the movement of N through the AM fungal hyphae. Recent studies examined Ri T-DNA-transformed carrot roots colonized with AM fungi in ~SN tracer experi- ments. In these experiments, the activities of key enzymes were determined, and expressions of genes related to N assimilation and translocation pathways were quantified. This review summarizes and discusses the results of recent research on the forms of N uptake, transport, degradation, and transfer to the roots of the host plant and the underlying mechanisms, as well as re- search on the forms of N and carbon used by germinating spores and their effects on amino acid metabolism. Finally, a path- way model summarizing the entire mechanism of N metabolism in AM fungi is outlined.展开更多

Shoot dry matter yields and shoot P uptake increased significantly (P 〉 0.05) by the inoculation of AM fungi at P0 and P10. Root length and P concentration in soil solution increased with the inoculation of AM fungi but the root:shoot ratio decreased or remained constant. Around 50% roots of inoculated plants were infected by AM and the external hyphae amounted to 20 m g^-1 soil at P10 and P200. The hyphae surface area of the infected root cylinder amounted to 11 and 2 cm^2 cm^-2 root at P0 and P10, respectively. The increased P uptake of inoculated plants was mainly because of an up to 5 times higher P influx of the infected root. Model calculations showed that the root alone could not have achieved the measured P influx in both infected and non-infected roots. But the P influx for hyphae calculated by the model was even much higher than the measured one. The P uptake capacity of hyphae introduced in the model was too high. Model calculations further showed that the depletion zone around roots or hyphae was very narrow. In the case of the root only 7% of the soil volume would contribute P to the plant, while in the case of hyphae it would be 100%. The results together with the model calculations showed that the increased P uptake of AM inoculated plants could be explained partly by the increased P concentration in the soil solution and by the increased P absorbing surface area coming from the external hyphae.展开更多
