One-way roads have potential for improving vehicle speed and reducing traffic delay.Suffering from dense road network,most of adjacent intersections’distance on one-way roads becomes relatively close,which makes isol...One-way roads have potential for improving vehicle speed and reducing traffic delay.Suffering from dense road network,most of adjacent intersections’distance on one-way roads becomes relatively close,which makes isolated control of intersections inefficient in this scene.Thus,it is significant to develop coordinated control of multiple intersection signals on the one-way roads.This paper proposes a signal coordination control method that is suitable for one-way arterial roads.This method uses the cooperation technology of the vehicle infrastructure to collect intersection traffic information and share information among the intersections.Adaptive signal control system is adopted for each intersection in the coordination system,and the green light time is adjusted in real time based on the number of vehicles in queue.The offset and clearance time can be calculated according to the real-time traffic volume.The proposed method was verified with simulation results by VISSIM traffic simulation software.The results compared with other methods show that the coordinated control method proposed in this paper can effectively reduce the average delay of vehicles on the arterial roads and improve the traffic efficiency.展开更多
Evaluation is the major activity of performing Verification, Validation and Accreditation (VV&A) of a simulation system. Unfortunately, there is a lack of reasonable and operable evaluation methods. Moreover, ther...Evaluation is the major activity of performing Verification, Validation and Accreditation (VV&A) of a simulation system. Unfortunately, there is a lack of reasonable and operable evaluation methods. Moreover, there are other problems to address in VV&A evaluation, such as index definition, conclusion analysis, etc. In this paper, a VV&A evaluation system is introduced to try to resolve these problems. The system is based on a method called hierarchical evaluation, and it uses a good combination of evaluation processes and indexes. First, a thorough analysis of the VV&A evaluation’s essentials and principles are given, then the uncertainty of the evaluation results caused by various analysis of the evaluators is pointed out, then a hierarchical evaluation mechanism based on evaluator weight and evaluation hierarchy is brought forward, and finally a comprehensive VV&A evaluation system with evaluation flow processing, index management and hierarchical evaluation fulfillment is established. The system gives good consideration to ease of operation, reasonableness of evaluation conclusion, and the ability to comprehensively resolve VV&A problems. Since VV&A is attracting more and more recognition, it is meaningful to provide a good system for implementing credible simulation systems. The aim of study is to develop a rapid test kit for detecting iridovirus infection in fish. Method was summarized as follows: (1) vaccine of iridovirus was injected to rabbit four times with a dosage as 0.5 mL, 1 mL, 2mL, 3 mL each week. Serum was collected at the fifth week as a coagglutination test kit; (2) through the positif polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, the kidney and spleen sample infected with iridovirus are homogenized by using the phosphate buffered saline (PBS) solution of pH 7.2 with ratio 1:2 (WN); (3) the supernatant material is collected after centrifugation at 8,000 rpm for 15 min; (4) filtrate/supernatant from sample was dropped on a slide an added with coagglutination test kit with the same volume (l:l); (5) the agglutination observation is done after the 30, 60 and 90 min incubate at room temperature. The aim of this work was to verify if the wheat susceptibility/tolerance phenotype to Fusarium head blight (FHB) into the field could be related to the ability of the re-activated seeds to hamper deoxynivalenol (DO...The aim of this work was to verify if the wheat susceptibility/tolerance phenotype to Fusarium head blight (FHB) into the field could be related to the ability of the re-activated seeds to hamper deoxynivalenol (DON) synthesis by Fusarium graminearum into non optimal (i.e. high humidity) storage conditions. On this purpose, two Fusariurn graminearum strains, Fg126 and Fg8308, were separately inoculated on active but not germinating kernels of Triticum aestivum L. cv "Sagittario" (FHB-susceptible) and cv "Blasco" (FHB-tolerant), The growth of the fungal strains on wheat kernels was monitored from 0 to 15 days post inoculation through a quantitative SYBR green real-time PCR, as well as ergosterol content through HPLC for comparison. DON biosynthesis into the contaminated wheat seeds was quantified by HPLC method in the same time intervals as above. Significant differences in the ability to grow and synthesize DON, acetylated and glucosylated forms, emerged between the strains also in relation to the wheat variety on which the pathogen developed. The results obtained indicated that the wheat variety which from the epidemiological studies carried out into the field is FHB-tolerant, i.e. Blasco, resulted as the more efficient in hampering DON synthesis in both F. graminearum strains. Thus, this preliminary study could represent a contribution to find out less time consuming methods for screening the wheat varieties tolerant to DON accumulation in non optimal storage conditions.展开更多

The alloys were fabricated using a vacuum induction melting method under an argon atmosphere The microstruetures of Mg-xCe-0.5Zn alloys mainly consist ofa-Mg and eutectic Mg12Ce phase. The volume fraction and size of the eutectic Mgl2Ce phase increase with increasing Ce contents. Nano-indentation test results show that the indentation hardness and elastic modulus of the eutectic Mg12Ce phase are higher than those of the a-Mg matrix. In addition, the mean indentation hardness and elastic modulus of the Mg-xCe-0.5Zn alloys increase with the Ce addition amount increasing.展开更多

The aim of this paper is the evaluation of the performance of a low pressure PEM (proton exchange membrane) fuel cell stack to step load changes, which are characteristic of standalone fuel cell system applications....The aim of this paper is the evaluation of the performance of a low pressure PEM (proton exchange membrane) fuel cell stack to step load changes, which are characteristic of standalone fuel cell system applications. The goal is a better understanding of the electrical behavior of the FC (fuel cell), as a result of the electrochemical processes, via the cell's voltage characteristic during transient response. While changing the load, the performance of significant parameters affected such as temperature, pressure, purge status etc. are registered and evaluated. The analysis and experiment are based on a low pressure 1.2 kW PEM fuel cell stack (NEXAS power module). Then, the experiment is simulated using Matlab/Simulink tools, while PCU (power conditioning units) are added in order to control power flow for enhanced performance. Finally, both operational and simulation data are compared to each other showing that simple PCUs applications can improve system's efficiency.展开更多

The research goal is to develop a new solar water heater system(SWHS) that uses a solar bubble pump instead of an electric pump.The pump is powered by the steam produced from an evacuated tube collector.Therefore,heat...The research goal is to develop a new solar water heater system(SWHS) that uses a solar bubble pump instead of an electric pump.The pump is powered by the steam produced from an evacuated tube collector.Therefore,heat could be transferred downward from the collector to a hot water storage tank.The designed system consists of two sets of heat-pipe evacuated tube collectors,a solar bubble pump installed at an upper level and a water storage tank with a heat exchanger at a lower level.Discharge heads of 1 and 5 m were tested.The bubble pump could operate at the collector temperature of about 90-100 ℃ and vapor gage pressure of 80-90 kPa.It is found that water circulation within the SWHS depends on the incident solar intensity and system discharge head.Experimental investigations are conducted to obtain the system thermal efficiencies from the hourly,daily and long-term performance tests.The thermal performance of the proposed system is compared with conventional solar water heaters.The results show that the proposed system achieves system characteristic efficiency of 10% higher than that of the conventional systems using electric pump if taking the consumption of electric power into account.And the former is a zero carbon system.展开更多

The use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems and simulation packages can significantly help in the design and testing phases by optimizing the design before a prototype is built. In the paper, supported by these software tools, the authors show a new patented system, named iDO, developed with the aim to stabilize the windsurf, to allow reducing the initial difficulties that a beginner meets in the learning phase. The design process, from the idea to the manufacturing aspects, with all the technical and technological problems, is described. The validation product was carried out by means of user evaluation questionnaires from sixty-four windsurfing beginners in several countries over world. The results show that the users are significantly satisfied with the product.展开更多

Dispatching rules were then formulated for the simulation. Experimental results proved the validity of the model and the dispatching algorithm. It was found that the model can solve the capacity evaluation problem for maintenance systems and provides a scientific basis for decision-maker to make decisions regarding equipment maintenance.展开更多
