Eye is the most important part on face for TCM doctors to diagnose patient. In this paper,we present several methods of eye quantification. We quantify eye movement, venation in white part of eye, tears in eye and the shape of upper eyelid, and then use cloud model to deduce volunteers' vitality condition by these measurements. We collect more than one thousand face images and dozens of face videos of patients',and some rules we mined with the highest support and interesting scores are right correspond to TCM diagnosis.展开更多

Building critically on Sartre, the gaze in Lacan and Merleau-Ponty is part of the technical apparatus used to describe the foundation, production, and reproduction of the subject. I will begin by discussing the role of visual perception in subject-formation in their respective work, differentiating between the Merleau-Pontian notion of the "gaze of the world," i.e., the ways in which things cast their gaze upon us, and the Lacanian gaze as a manifestation of the scopic drive. Through an analysis of anamorphosis I will show (1) how the gaze evades the spectator, (2) what the relationship of the gaze is to the object petit a as the object of the scopic drive, and (3) how both Merleau-Ponty and Lacan require a movement that precedes and destabilizes the subject of intentional consciousness.展开更多

On the basis of geometry and according to the distance and deflection angle of the robot eyes positioning, the objects were captured and tracked by robots eyes. Geometry method precision was low, but simple calculation processing was quick. Thus, it can effectively meet the robot eyes preliminary positioning of the fast moving target.展开更多

It is known that males of Drosophila melanogaster are able to learn to associate olfactory and gustatory cues with female re- ceptivity, but the role of more arbitrary, visual cues in mate choice learning has been overlooked to date in this species. We there- fore carried out a series of experiments to determine: 1) whether males had a baseline preference for female eye color (red versus brown), 2) if males could learn to associate an eye color cue with female receptivity, and 3) whether this association disappeared when the males were unable to use this visual cue in the dark. We found that naive males had no baseline preference for females of either eye color, but that males which were trained with sexually receptive females of a given eye color showed a preference for that color during a standard binary choice experiment. The learned cue was indeed likely to be truly visual, since the prefe- rence disappeared when the binary choice phase of the experiment was carried out in darkness. This is, to our knowledge l) the first evidence that male D. melanogaster can use more arbitrary cues and 2) the first evidence that males use visual cues during mate choice learning. Our findings suggest that that D. melanogaster has untapped potential as a model system for mate choice learning.展开更多
