The amplifier has a measured - 3dB bandwidth of 7. 5GHz and a transimpedance gain of 45dBΩ. Both the input and output voltage standing wave ratios (VSWR) are less than 2 within the bandwidth. The equivalent input noise current spectral density varies from 14.3 to 22pA/√Hz, with an average value of 17. 2pA/√Hz. Having a timing jitter of 14ps and eye amplitude of about 138mV,the measured output eye diagram for 10Gb/s NRZ pseudorandom binary sequence (PRBS) is clear and satisfactory. 展开更多

By expanding its traditional concept and functions, the potential of hawk-eye’s application in cartography was tapped. With the acquisition of the total graph of front view, the client area of front view, the indicator of hawk-eye and the scope frameworks of hawk-eye as the core, various functions of hawk-eye would be realized by combining basic principles and algorithms of the graphic affine transformation with the map demonstration function offered by ArcEngine. Based on the classifications and summaries of the realization methods of hawk-eye, it drew a conclusion that the common hawk-eye and the magnifier window work in the same way, and the location ability of hawk-eye is the basis of dragging function and pulling-boxes function. Hawk-eye has achieved good effects in remote sensing survey and mapping for the development of mining industry. 展开更多

Thermal performance was the most important factor in the development of borehole heat exchanger utilizing geothermal energy. The thermal performance was affected by many different design parameters, such as configuration type and borehole size of geothermal heat exchanger. These eventually determined the operation and cost efficiency of the geothermal heat exchanger system. The main purpose of this work was to assess the thermal performance of geother^nal heat exchanger with variation of borehole sizes and numbers of U-tubes inside a borehole. For this, a thermal response test rig was established with line-source theory. The thermal response test was performed with in-line variable input heat source. Effective thermal conductivity and thermal resistance were obtained from the measured data. From the measurement, the effective thermal conductivity is found to have similar values for two- pair type (4 U-tubes) and three-pair type (6 U-tubes) borehole heat exchanger systems indicating similar heat transfer ability. Meanwhile, the thermal resistance shows lower value for the three-pair type compared to the two-pair type. Measured data based resistance have lower value compared to computed result from design programs. Overall comparison finds better thermal performance for the three-pair type, however, fluctuating temperature variation indicates complex flow behavior inside the borehole and requires further study on flow characteristics. 展开更多

Although both Astasia longa and Euglena gracilis belong to different genera, they share many morphological characters except that A. longa has no chloroplast. In the 1940’s, on the basis of the finding that in darkness or upon addition of some chemicals, E. gracilis would fade reversibly or irreversibly, some scholars hypothesised that A. longa evolved from E. gracilis by losing chloroplast. The authors’ use of RAPD and cladistic analyses in a study on the evolutionary relationship between A .longa and E. gracilis showed that the A. longa ’s relationship with E. gracilis was closer than that with other green euglenoids. This proves the hypothesis that A. longa evolved from E. gracilis is reasonable. The results of this study suggest that saprophytic colorless euglenoids were transformed from green euglenoids by losing their choroplasts. 展开更多

Afferent and efferent neural elements of the retina and central ganglia in the freshwater snail Planorbarius corneus were labelled using retrograde transport of neurobiotin through the optic nerve.Axons of at least some photoreceptor cells become direct contributors to the optic nerve as no synaptic junctions could be detected.The processes enter the cerebral ganglion and form a dense bundle of thin afferent fibres,the so-called optical neuropil.Efferent neurons were revealed in all ganglia,except the buccal ones.Some of the ascending axons branch in the cerebral ganglia,cross the cerebro-cerebral commissure,reach the contralateral eye and form arborizations in the eye cup.Some efferent neurons send axons to different peripheral nerves as well:n.n.intestinalis,pallialis dexter,pallialis sinister internus et externus.Serotonin-and FMRF-amide-ergic fibres were revealed in the optic nerve.These fibres belong to those central neurons which send their axons to the ipsilateral eye only.They form abundant varicoses in the eye cup and nuclear layer of the retina,and possibly help to regulate retinal sensitivity to light. 展开更多

Objective: Assess the profile of eye drops in patients with eye diseases. Methods: Studies available in the scientific literature were identified without any time limits using the databases Embase-Medline, Scielo, Scopus and Web of Knowledge. The selected studies were compared with the following inclusion criteria: (i) if the study evaluated the eye drop instillation, (ii) if the study involved participation of patients with eye diseases. Results: Twelve studies met the inclusion criteria. Of them, 83.33% evaluated the technique of eye drop instillation in patients with glaucoma, 8.33% in patients with eye diseases and 8.33% in patients with cataract after undergoing surgery to correct. 41.66% of studies have chosen to record a video of patients to analyze the technique of instilling eye drops and 41.66% did not describe the/esearch location. Regarding the type of study, 75% had the design as prospective cross-sectional, 8.33% prospective open label study, 8.33% intervention study and 8.33% study called masked trial. Although studies evaluate the technique of eye drop instillation, only 8.33% describe in the article the reference in the literature used to evaluate patients. 50% of articles acknowledged some sort of bias or limitation. Conclusion: The limitations inherent in these types of studies should guide future research. 展开更多

To overcome these, drug delivery scientists have fol-lowed two distinct yet complimentary approaches. The frst involves using alternate delivery routes to conven-tional ones allowing for more direct access to intended target sites. Second approach involves development of novel drug delivery systems providing better perme-ability, treatability and controlled release at target site. Objective To evaluate the effect of short-term soft contact lens (SCLs) wearing on human ocular aberrations ( HOA ). Methods This prospective study included 50 eyes of 50 young volunteers wearing SCLs for 1 month. The ocular aberrations were measured by Allegretto Wavefront Analyzer. The root-mean-square (RMS) values of the general (RMSG) , higher-order (RMSH) , first to sixth order ( RMS1 to RMS6) and aberration coefficients were analyzed. Results There were no significant differences in the mean values of RMSG, RMSH, RMS1 to RMS6 ( P 〉 0. 05 ) and changes of absolute values of aberration coefficients between baseline and various visits after SCLs discontinuation. However, at d I after the discontinuation of SCLs, changes in coefficient values of the third-order aberrations ( C6 to C9 ) were slightly higher than others, and C7 was the highest. The increase factors of RMS values were higher at 1 week and lower at the 2 week visit after SCLs discontinuation. The uniformity of dominating type in HOA and the corneal topography form was both about 60% after discontinuation of SCLs. The corneal thickness increased after SCLs wear and gradually decreased to baseline until 1 month discontinuation of SCLs. Conclusion The effect of short-term SCLs wear on human ocular aberrations is slight but profound. A month or more wait should be allowed before the short-term SCLs wearers are scheduled for wavefronted-guided LASIK. 展开更多

In contrast to astrocytes in mammals, fish astrocytes promote axon regeneration after brain injury and actively participate in the regeneration process. Neurolin, a regeneration-associated, Zn8-1abeled protein, is involved in the repair of damaged optic nerve in goldfish. At 1 week after unilateral eye injury, the ex- pression of neurolin in the optic nerve and chiasm, and the expression of Pax6 that influences nervous system development in various brain regions in the rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) were detected. Immunohistochemical staining revealed that the number of Zn8~ cells in the optic nerve head and intraor- bital segment was obviously increased, and the increase in Zn8~ cells was also observed in the proximal and distal parts of injured optic nerve. This suggests that Zn8* astrocytes participate in optic nerve regeneration. ELISA results revealed that Pax6 protein increased obviously at 1 week post-injury. Immunohistochemi- cal staining revealed the appearance of Pax6+ neurogenic niches and a larger number of neural precursor cells, which are mainly from Pax6+ radial glia cells, in the nuclei of the diencephalon and optic tectum of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Taken together, unilateral eye injury can cause optic nerve reaction, and the formation of neurogenic niches is likely a compensation phenomenon during the repair process of optic nerve injury in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). 展开更多

This paper presents an RF energy harvesting system for wireless intraocular pressure monitoring applications.The system consists of an implantable antenna and a rectifier.A new sizing strategy is adopted to optimize the conversion efficiency of the rectifier,and the design principle of an implantable antenna is introduced from material selection and structure design.Results from testing demonstrate that the antenna gain is about-20 dBi and the rectifier's maximum total conversion efficiency which contains match efficiency and rectifying efficiency is 47.18%under the implementation of0.18μm standard CMOS process.The maximum power obtained from the proposed system is 8μW when the power density of electromagnetic wave is lower than the national standard 40μW/cm^2 at915 MHz,which is enough to power the intraocular pressure monitoring system. 展开更多

A design for a fisheye optical system is modified in order to enable IR vision in addition to the visible and UV lighting. The proposed modification goes to replace the optical material of the movable lens by another with less thermal dispersion. The choice of appropriate materials lead to a good focus appeared on the retina for a wide spectral range includes UV, visible, and near IR lighting. Then, the performance of the modified design is verified through some optical measures for imaging quality determinations. These optical measures are determined with the aid of Zemax software, which also used for testing performance of the modified fisheye optical system. The analysis mainly focuses on the energy distribution in the light spot on the focal surface. The results show that the modified design of the fisheye is acceptable. 展开更多
