This paper focuses on semantic knowl- edge acquisition from blogs with the proposed tag- topic model. The model extends the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) model by adding a tag layer be- tween the document and the topic. Each document is represented by a mixture of tags; each tag is as- sociated with a multinomial distribution over topics and each topic is associated with a multinomial dis- trNution over words. After parameter estimation, the tags are used to descrNe the underlying topics. Thus the latent semantic knowledge within the top- ics could be represented explicitly. The tags are treated as concepts, and the top-N words from the top topics are selected as related words of the con- cepts. Then PMI-IR is employed to compute the re- latedness between each tag-word pair and noisy words with low correlation removed to improve the quality of the semantic knowledge. Experiment re- sults show that the proposed method can effectively capture semantic knowledge, especially the polyse- me and synonym. 展开更多

This article presents two approaches for automated building of knowledge bases of soil resources mapping. These methods used decision tree and Bayesian predictive modeling, respectively to generate knowledge from training data. With these methods, building a knowledge base for automated soil mapping is easier than using the conventional knowledge acquisition approach. The knowledge bases built by these two methods were used by the knowledge classifier for soil type classification of the Longyou area, Zhejiang Province, China using TM bi-temporal imageries and GIS data. To evaluate the performance of the resultant knowledge bases, the classification results were compared to existing soil map based on field survey. The accuracy assessment and analysis of the resultant soil maps suggested that the knowledge bases built by these two methods were of good quality for mapping distribution model of soil classes over the study area. 展开更多

This methodhas been used in many fields, but there are still somedifficulties that hindered its application. The first isabout the difficulty in the formalization of a designcase, especially representation of some experiencesthat was the weakness in former researches. The second is about the bottleneck of knowledge-acqulsition that results in lacking enough knowledge in the modification process.which may lead to unreliable results when automatic inference is applied.We proposed that modification should be done not by machines but by designers while the inference results can be used as a suggestion to designers.In this manner we integrated both case.based and rule-based methodologies together.The third difficulty relates to case evolution and customization.former CBD systems suffered from this problem.We proposed an agile case-template technique that overcomes the problem perfectly.To make users be able to define their own similarity rules we allow users to choose different parameter weights and fuzzy subjection functions of numeric parameters.The approach of this paper has been applied to an enterprise and the system is built on the Web. 展开更多

This work aims to verify how the Web portals of Universities Hospital located in the northeast of Brazil are contributing to the expansion of knowledge of its users from the analysis of interactive features associated with the three mechanisms of knowledge management: knowledge access (KA), knowledge creation (KC), and knowledge transfer (KT). The study is exploratory, descriptive, and qualitative type, such as a survey, developed through an adaptation of a relevant research, which involves the standardization of data collection instruments (questionnaires and interviews) applied directly to persons of a specific population, to assess knowledge management tools present in the University Hospital portals in the northeast region of Brazil. The results indicated that the resources from knowledge access were more prevalent than the others, ratifying the results found in research developed in Asian and North American Hospital portals. 展开更多

Results obtained in the search of regularities... Data analysis and automatic processing is often interpreted as knowledge acquisition. In many cases it is necessary to somehow classify data or find regularities in them. Results obtained in the search of regularities in intelligent data analyzing applications are mostly represented with the help of IF-THEN rules. With the help of these rules the following tasks are solved: prediction, classification, pattern recognition and others. Using different approaches---clustering algorithms, neural network methods, fuzzy rule processing methods--we can extract rules that in an understandable language characterize the data. This allows interpreting the data, finding relationships in the data and extracting new rules that characterize them. Knowledge acquisition in this paper is defined as the process of extracting knowledge from numerical data in the form of rules. Extraction of rules in this context is based on clustering methods K-means and fuzzy C-means. With the assistance of K-means, clustering algorithm rules are derived from trained neural networks. Fuzzy C-means is used in fuzzy rule based design method. Rule extraction methodology is demonstrated in the Fisher's Iris flower data set samples. The effectiveness of the extracted rules is evaluated. Clustering and rule extraction methodology can be widely used in evaluating and analyzing various economic and financial processes. 展开更多

Constructivist theory emphasizes that leaming is a process of knowledge acquisition. Knowledge can not only get from teachers, but also requires learners to learn from others' help in some particular context, with the necessary leaming materials, and through a way of meaning construction. The first is to visually capture and quantify those skills by identifying differences in the skill levels of a nationally certified technician and a highly skilled expert technician using motion capture software, the other is to explore the relevance of the operation and thinking processes by interviewing the expert technician and then attempt to quantify empirical tacit knowledge by an analysis of mobile tracking views using motion capture software. The results show that a technician's ability to engage in "sensory thinking", such as the proper management of visual and tactile cues, is the most important component of his or her proficiency during optical fiber fusion splicing operations, and it was clear that operations were complemented when work path movements were reduced. 展开更多

This paper presents a power system architecture where SIPO (series-input parallel-output) converters are controlled to achieve uniform inpt voltages across their respective series-connected power sources while also tracking the system optimum power point; the system optimum power point is the maximum power drawn from the series-connected power sources while their voltages are kept uniformly distributed. With proper uniform input voltage distribution control, near maximum use of the power sources is achieved by employing only one MPT (maximum power tracking) controller instead of multiple MPT controllers dedicated for their respective power sources. Provided that the maximum power point voltages of the input power sources are similar, the resulting system architecture offers near-maximum power transfer with a lower parts count. A feasibility study using computer simulation has successfully validated two SIPO power architectures and their control concepts for optimum power transfer. 展开更多
