An improved numerical simulation method is presented to calculate the downhole temperature distribution for multiple pay zones in producing oil wells. Based on hydrodynamics and heat transfer theory, a 2-D temperature field model in cylindrical coordinates is developed. In the model, we considered general heat conduction as well as the heat convection due to fluid flow from porous formation to the borehole. We also take into account the fluid velocity variation in the wellbore due to multiple pay zones. We present coupled boundary conditions at the interfaces between the wellbore and adjacent formation, the wellbore and pay zone, and the pay zone and adjacent formation. Finally, an alternating direction implicit difference method (ADI) is used to solve the temperature model for the downhole temperature distribution. The comparison of modeled temperature curve with actual temperature log indicates that simulation result is in general quite similar to the actual temperature log. We found that the total production rate, production time, porosity, thickness of pay zones, and geothermal gradient, all have effects on the downhole temperature distribution. 展开更多

By means of selecting proper additives and optimizing catalyst composition and preparation procedures, a high-platinum and low coke deposition catalyst PS-Ⅶ for continuous catalytic reforming (CCR) without reducing its specific surface area has been successfully developed. This catalyst PS-Ⅶ was evaluated in a 100-mL pilot test unit. Study results showed that under the same reaction conditions the newly developed catalyst PS-Ⅶ achieved a 26% reduction in coke deposition as compared to the existing high-platinum CCR catalyst. This catalyst upon its first commercial application in a 1.39 Mt/a CCR unit had exhibited good anti-attrition performance and good stability in terms of its specific surface area. Compared to the original CCR catalyst this PS-Ⅶ type catalyst could reduce the coke deposition by 27.32% when operating on feedstock with low potential aromatic content, along with apparent increase in C6^+ liquid yield, hydrogen yield and aromatics yield, which could grapple with the problem associated with the catalyst regeneration constraints after CCR capacity expansion to ensure the longcycle high-load operation of the CCR unit. 展开更多

A hybrid approach using MLD (mixed logical dynamical) framework to handle infeasibility and constraint prioritization issues in MPC (model predictive control) based on input-output model is introduced. By expressing constraint priorities as propositional logics and by transforming the propositional logics into inequalities,the infeasibility and constraint prioritization issues are solved in the MPC. Constraints with higher priorities are met first, and then these with lower priorities are satisfied as much as possible. This new approach is illustrated in the control of a heavy oil fractionator-Shell column. The overall control performance has been significantly improved through the infeasibility and control priorities handling. 展开更多
