The 7 heavy metals content in the contaminated soil was measured by atomic absorption spec-trophotometry. The results showed the pH of the wasteland soil ranged from 2.87 to 6.16, and the soil was relatively infertile. The soil was mainly pol uted by Cd and Mn. The Cd content in wasteland soil ranged from 0.759 mg/kg to 3.109 mg/kg with an average content of 2.052 mg/kg, which was much higher than the standard content. The Mn content ranged from 387.057 to 488.660 mg/kg with an average content of 421.215 mg/kg, which was much higher than the standard content. The Nemerow integrated pol ution indexes showed the sample 1, sample 4 and sample 5 were of heavy pol ution, and sample 2 and sample 3 were of moderate pol ution. 展开更多

The issues of acid mine drainage (AMD) and heavy metals contamination in the metal sulfide mine in the add district were explored, through studying the acidification and the heavy metals distribution and evolution of groundwater in the black swan (BS) nickel sulfide mine (Western Australia). The groundwater samples were collected from the drilling holes situated in the vicinity of tailings storage facility (TSF) and in the background of the mine (away from TSF), respectively, and the pH and electric conductivity (Ec) were measured in site and the metal contents were analysed by ICP-MS and ICP-AES, quarterly in one hydrological year. The results disclose that the TSF groundwater is remarkably acidified (.pHmean=5, pHmin=3), and the average contents of heavy metals (Co, Cu, Zn, Cd) and Al, Mn are of 1-2 orders of magnitude higher in TSF groundwater than in background groundwater. It may be due to the percolation of tailings waste water from miU process, which leads the tailings to oxidize and the deep groundwater to acidify and contaminate with heavy metals. Besides, the heavy metals concentration in groundwater may be controlled by pH mainly. 展开更多

Mine rocky desertification is another type of rocky desertification which coexists with Karst rocky desertification, suggested firstly by professor SONG Jian-bo, Guizhou University. Mine rocky desertification is a process and result that the earth's surface is similar to desert landscapes after rock is exposed gradually, owing to mine wastes discharged at will which consist of waste residue, waste liquid and waste gas. On the basis of introducing Karst rocky desertification simply, we clarify the concept of Mine rocky desertification systemically, analyze its danger and compare the differences between Mine rocky desertification and Karst rocky desertification. Finally, we make preliminary discussion on the study significance of comprehensive treatment of Mine rocky desertification 展开更多

This study consists to the detection of cavities that could be present over abandoned mines of Albania with the use of SP (self potential) and ERT (electrical resistance tomography). In general, natural and artificial cavities represent an important investigation target in geotechnical, environmental and scientific studies. These studies could be engineering, archaeological or speleological. For the detection and localization of such cavities during the last 20 years, several geophysical studies have been used worldwide. In this field study, several geophysical methods could be used such as electrical, electromagnetic, gravimetric and seismic ones. Now days, the ground penetrating radar technique and ERT are widely used. Depending on geological formation conditions every used method is more or less effective. As a result of actual conditions of works on ore mines, the dynamic regime of the surroundings areas has undergone changes creating superficial cavities and funnels and as consequence the geological risk to the community is present. The detection of cavities is a challenge for geophysicists and in these cases the ambiguity on interpretation of geophysical data has to be solved properly. The simultaneous application of different geophysical methods and monitoring in time are necessary in order that the field data interpretation could be significant. Geophysical investigations were carried out as tests over galleries of ore mines of Albania. In this study, we present the SP and ERT results in two sites, in Dhrovjan and Perrenjas region. The effectiveness of the used geophysical methods was present. 展开更多
