As one of the AES finalists, the Serpent is a 128-bit Substitution-Permutation Network(SPN) cryptosystem. It has 32 rounds with the variable key length between 0 and 256 bits, which is flexible to provide security in the Internet of Things. On the basis of the byte-oriented model and the differential analysis, we propose an effective differential fault attack on the Serpent cryptosystem. Mathematical analysis and simulating experiment show that the attack could recover its secret key by introducing 48 faulty ciphertexts. The result in this study describes that the Serpent is vulnerable to differential fault analysis in detail. It will be beneficial to the analysis of the same type of other iterated cryptosystems.展开更多

To achieve a good Rate-Distortion (R-D) per- formance, the current WZVC paradi^prls usually a- dopt an end-to-end rate control scheme in which the decoder repeatedly requests the additional deco- ding data from the encoder for decoding Wyner-Ziv frames. Therefore, the waiting time of the additional decoding data is especially long in multihop WVSNs. In this paper, we propose a novel pro- gressive in-network rate control scheme for WZVC. The proposed in-network puncturing-based rate control scheme transfers the partial channel codes puncturing task from the encoder to the relay nodes. Then, the decoder can request the addition- al decoding data from the relay nodes instead of the encoder, and the total waiting time for deco- ding Wyner-Ziv frames is reduced consequently. Although some rate control schemes are proposed to circumvent the dilemma, the inaccurate prediction model and improper bit allocation deter H.264 application on low bandwidth channel. This technique constrained the solution (PDS) algorithm, for M-ary phase shift keying (M-PSK) symbols to have a unit magnitude and it was based on coordinate descent iterations where coordinates were the unknown symbol phases. The PDS algorithm, together with a descent local search (also implemented as a version of the PDS algorithm), was used multiple times with different initializations in a proposed multiple phase detector; the solution with the minimum cost was then chosen as the final solution. The simulation results show that for highly loaded multiuser scenarios, the proposed technique has a detection performance that is close to the single-user bound. The results also show that the multiple phase detector allows detection in highly overloaded scenarios and it exhibits near-far resistance. In particular, the detector has a performance that is significantly better, and complexity that is significantly lower, than that of the detector based on semi-definite relaxation.展开更多

Many DSC systems in the literature use feedback channel (FC) to control rate at the decoder, which limits the application of DSC. Upon an analysis of the image data, a rate control approach is proposed to avoid FC. Low-complexity motion compensation is applied first to estimate side information at the encoder. Using a polynomial fitting method, a new mathematical model is then derived to estimate rate based on the correlation between the source and side information. The experimental results show that our estimated rate is a good approximation to the actual rate required by FC while incurring a little bit-rate overhead. Our compression scheme performs comparable with the FC based DSC system and outperforms JPEG2000 significantly.展开更多

In most existing relay mechanisms based on inter-session network such as COPE, relay node demands to collect the messages from its neighbor nodes to get notice of which packets already overheard by them so as to determine whether there exists coding opportunity between or among forwarding packets. However, transmission overhead of this message collection and computing cost of opportunity determination will degrade the performance of these mechanisms. It is observed that coding opportunity at relay node is much more related with the local topology, and the opportunity of encoding three or more packets together is far less than that of encoding two packets together in wireless network with general density. Based on this, a new coding-aware routing mechanism, named TCAR, is proposed. TCAR ignores the oppommity of encoding three or more than three packets together. Each relay node maintains an encoding mapping table being established according to the result of its local topology detection, which can be used to calculate the path cost during routing setup phase, and determine that which two packets can be encoded together during the packets forwarding phase. In TCAR, instead of periodic messages collection, each relay nodes just need once local topology detection, and the encoding determination is much simpler than that of the former mechanisms. Simulation results show that compared with typical inter-session network coding mechanisms COPE and COPE-based routing, TCAR achieves 12% and 7% throughput gains, and keeps the minimum end to end delay.展开更多
