Acupuncture originated in China and is an important component of traditional Chinese medicine.The elucidation of its anesthetic mechanisms,the medical needs of Western societies,as well as the proven therapeutic effec...Acupuncture originated in China and is an important component of traditional Chinese medicine.The elucidation of its anesthetic mechanisms,the medical needs of Western societies,as well as the proven therapeutic effects of this technique have made it the most widely used medical practice in the world.The concept of evidence-based medicine has been introduced in acupuncture research for technical improvement and the production of high-quality clinical evidence.Upon reviewing the acupuncture clinical research over the past 10years,we found the gradually increasing range of diseases that it benefits,from pain management to neoplasms and genitourinary,digestive,and mental disorders.Acupuncture is included in a number of international guidelines for clinical practice.However,high-quality clinical evidence to support the efficacy and effectiveness of acupuncture is lacking as a result of multiple exceptional clinical trials conducted by Western researchers that have yielded antagonistic results.Future clinical research should focus on exploring objective evaluation methods for studying the therapeutic effects of acupuncture.展开更多

As the risin...Gas fluidization has an ability to turn static particles to fluid-like dense flow, which allows greatly improved heat transfer among porous powders and highly efficient solid processing to become reality. As the rising star of current scientific research, some nanoparticles can also be fluidized in the form of agglomerates, with sizes ranging from tens to hundreds of microns. Herein, we have reviewed the recent progress on nanomaterial agglomeration and their fluidization behavior, the assisted techniques to enhance the fluidization of nanomaterials,including some mechanical measures, external fields and improved gas injections, as well as their effects on solid fluidization and mixing behaviors. Most of these techniques are effective in breaking large agglomerates and promoting particulate fluidization, meanwhile, the solid mixing is intensified under assisted fluidization. The applications of nanofluidization in nanostructured material production and sustainable chemical industry are further presented. In summary, the fluidization science of multidimensional, multicomponent and multifunctional particles, their multi-phase characterization, and the guideline of fluidized bed coupled process are prerequisites for the sustainable development of fluidized bed based materials, energy and chemical industry.展开更多

This tutorial review looks upon the tools of gene therapy and the principte elements (vector, promoter, targeting, therapeutic gene). The principles of gene therapy such as gene directed enzyme prodrug therapy (GDEPT) and gene directed tumor vaccination are explained. Further, published protocols and clinical studies for pancreatic carcinoma gene therapy are reviewed. The science of earthquake underground fluid is closely correlated with earthquake monitoring and prediction, such as innovations in observation techniques and theoretical methods, and analysis of diversified parameters and research into predictive methods. The historical evolution of observation networks for underground fluid indicates that the demand for strong earthquake monitoring and prediction has become the driving force of the construction and development of the observation network. The development of observation techniques represents the trend based on multiform measurement, syntheses, and digitization. The study results of underground fluid theory and precursory mechanisms suggest that the precursory model, numerical simuiation and in-door or field experimental research are the main technological approaches promoting innovation. Research results of earthquake forecast methods use physics based forecast techniques and the ideas of combination of usability and scientific advance. It has been proved by forecast practice that studying underground fluid is a very important subject in earthquake prediction on the Chinese mainland. Finally, the primary work and technical criterion on underground fluid are introduced, and some major scientific issues and development trends in different historical stages are summarized.展开更多

Research question, objectives and assumptions were made to facil...In this secondary research, published works on effect of climate change on water resources in other countries and in Australia were reviewed critically. Research question, objectives and assumptions were made to facilitate this study. First, methods used for such studies and their results at global level were reviewed. Then Australian specific methods of study and findings were reviewed. More commonly, both globally and in Australia, simulations using long-term real data on selected climatic scenarios of global climatic models are projected for long-term future trends. The validity and certainty of predicted occurrences depend upon the closeness of real time data with scenarios to which they are projected. Even with these limitations, projections of already rising temperatures and declining rainfall on surface water and ground water availabilities show gradual decline in water availability leading to water stress both for human communities and ecosystems The role of human-induced emissions in hastening the degradation process has also been investigated. Conserving all available water, practising efficient water consumption and prudent water policies only can provide some relief from what is inevitable.展开更多

After a brief overview on the theoretical cap...This paper explores how empirical capability approach studies assess well-being for young and old generations in affluent countries, defined as high-income OECD countries. After a brief overview on the theoretical capability background and empirical core decisons, the authors discuss empirical capability studies on the well-being of children, adolescents and the elderly. The authors find that the issues of child and youth well-being have been increasing interested by capability researchers while despite of the importance of demographic change, few researchers deal with old-age issues. The authors conclude that for young as well as old generations, capability approach studies confirm that income assessment is not sufficient to capture well-being for the young and the old but has to be enriched by a more comprehensive perspective on capabilities and functionings. Moreover, it is recommendable and issues that have already entered the agenda of studies on for research on elderly to adopt research methods, questions capabilities of children and young adults. As capability sets for both, young and old generations are in general characterized by changes, i.e., expansions in the case of children, declines in the case of older people, both may benefit from a more dynamic perspective on life cycles on their way to potential dynamic capability theories and empirics.展开更多

Methods: Relevant articles involving pediatric tuina have been retrieved through the databases of domestic journals for health and medical sciences as well as Springer-Verlag Database of German during 2002-2011. It aims to extract relevant information, build literature infomaation table of tuina therapy for pediatric conditions and conduct statistical analysis. Then the findings were compared with the data of pediatric tuina papers which were published from 1988 to 1997 recorded in Encyclopedia of Chinese Tuina. Results and Conclusion: A total of 75 clinical indications for pediatric tuina have been statistically summarized, of which 5 common conditions were selected and 1 prior condition was singled out. Objective: To analyze moxibustion reports published in the journals of Science Citation Index (SCI), so as to grasp the current publication development of researches on moxibustion and to provide submission referen...Objective: To analyze moxibustion reports published in the journals of Science Citation Index (SCI), so as to grasp the current publication development of researches on moxibustion and to provide submission reference to such studies in the future. Methods: Moxibustion reports were searched on PubMed and ISI web of knowledge, and 2 reviewers extracted data independently for analysis. Studies qualified were analyzed from eight aspects: publishing amount, research type, source journal, impact factor (IF), source country, source academy, indication and effect evaluation, comparison of studies between China and other countries. Results and Conclusion: Fifty-three associated reports published in journals of SC1 were selected. The publishing amount of moxibustion reports increased year by year, and majority of these reports were clinical researches and system reviews. IFs of most journals were less than 5. Diseases involved were various; however, the curative effect of moxibustion was still uncertain worldwide. The mechanism of moxibustion was not fully described, either. Further high-quality and convictive researches were still needed to define the curative effect of moxibustion and to increase the SCI publishing amounts.展开更多

The Computer Mediated Communication (CMC) technology is therefore radically discussed by researchers for its great impacts on English language learning. Based upon thorough literature review and practical survey, this paper demonstrates modem CMC technology and textism phenomenon and makes an analysis of its significant impacts on English language learning. It aims to answer the typical blessing-or-nightmare question, and shed some light on the research of modern information communication technolo^v in lanwaa^e education.
文摘From the perspective of dynamic foreign language curriculum theory, this paper combs, summarizes and reviews the number, contents and topics of the College English Teaching research in China from 2004 to 2014. On the basis of the research above, this paper puts forward the proposal that college curriculum planning, implementation and evaluation should be put into China's social, political, economic and cultural backgrounds, and the dynamic ecological system of College English Teaching should be established by using information technology so as to cultivate high-end foreign language talents.
文摘This paper explores how empirical capability approach studies assess well-being for young and old generations in affluent countries, defined as high-income OECD countries. After a brief overview on the theoretical capability background and empirical core decisons, the authors discuss empirical capability studies on the well-being of children, adolescents and the elderly. The authors find that the issues of child and youth well-being have been increasing interested by capability researchers while despite of the importance of demographic change, few researchers deal with old-age issues. The authors conclude that for young as well as old generations, capability approach studies confirm that income assessment is not sufficient to capture well-being for the young and the old but has to be enriched by a more comprehensive perspective on capabilities and functionings. Moreover, it is recommendable and issues that have already entered the agenda of studies on for research on elderly to adopt research methods, questions capabilities of children and young adults. As capability sets for both, young and old generations are in general characterized by changes, i.e., expansions in the case of children, declines in the case of older people, both may benefit from a more dynamic perspective on life cycles on their way to potential dynamic capability theories and empirics.
文摘Objective: To investigate the clinical study advance of pediatric tuina and understand the changes of disease scope and spectrum in pediatric tuina over the last decade. Methods: Relevant articles involving pediatric tuina have been retrieved through the databases of domestic journals for health and medical sciences as well as Springer-Verlag Database of German during 2002-2011. It aims to extract relevant information, build literature infomaation table of tuina therapy for pediatric conditions and conduct statistical analysis. Then the findings were compared with the data of pediatric tuina papers which were published from 1988 to 1997 recorded in Encyclopedia of Chinese Tuina. Results and Conclusion: A total of 75 clinical indications for pediatric tuina have been statistically summarized, of which 5 common conditions were selected and 1 prior condition was singled out. Additionally, some outdated or new conditions have been discovered.

文摘Objective: To analyze moxibustion reports published in the journals of Science Citation Index (SCI), so as to grasp the current publication development of researches on moxibustion and to provide submission reference to such studies in the future. Methods: Moxibustion reports were searched on PubMed and ISI web of knowledge, and 2 reviewers extracted data independently for analysis. Studies qualified were analyzed from eight aspects: publishing amount, research type, source journal, impact factor (IF), source country, source academy, indication and effect evaluation, comparison of studies between China and other countries. Results and Conclusion: Fifty-three associated reports published in journals of SC1 were selected. The publishing amount of moxibustion reports increased year by year, and majority of these reports were clinical researches and system reviews. IFs of most journals were less than 5. Diseases involved were various; however, the curative effect of moxibustion was still uncertain worldwide. The mechanism of moxibustion was not fully described, either. Further high-quality and convictive researches were still needed to define the curative effect of moxibustion and to increase the SCI publishing amounts.
文摘Objective:To summarize the research status of the changes in local microenvironment of acupoints caused by acupuncture,provide theoretical guidance for the initiation mechanisms of local acupuncture effect at acupoints.Methods:Using acupuncture,acupoint as key words to search China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),Wanfang Academic Journal Full-text Database(Wanfang),Chongqing VIP Database(CQVIP),PubMed and other databases,the representative articles were selected for review.Results:Acupuncture could excite afferent nerves,activate cells,and promote the release of chemical substances like neuropeptide,hormone,cytokines,etc.in the local site of acupoints.Besides,it may cause mechanical deformation of connective tissues,and change chemical ions as well as ion channels.Conclusion:The microenvironment changes around acupoints are crucial to acupuncture effect;the concept of'acupoints network'can be used to objectively describe the local changes around the acupoints after acupuncture.
文摘By summarizing the recent literatures on brain mechanisms with acupuncture intervention based on blood oxygenation level-dependent(BOLD)-functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI),the BOLD-fMRI examination and analysis methods,the points to be acupunctured,the corresponding meridian activation regions,the specific intensity range,functions and indications of the acupoints,the manifestation of'bi-directional regulation'characteristics,fMRI performance of chronergy,laterality and needling qi of acupuncture were reviewed to provide the ideas for future research in this area.
