To improve the magneto-rheological (MR) properties of magneto-rheological fluids, self-made amorphous alloy particles, the composition of which was Fe76Cr2Mo2Sn2P10B2C2Si4, were used as the disperse phase to replace traditional carbonyl iron (CI) particles to prepare amorphous based magneto-rheological fluid (AMRF). Soft magnetic properties and densities of the amorphous particles and the CI particles were tested and compared. The results indicate the amorphous particles present a lower density but larger magnetization intensity and larger permeability at lower field levels. Properties of the AMRF with 20% particles in volume fraction were tested and compared with the CI based MR fluid (CMRF). The AMRF presents a saturation yield stress of 41 kPa at ~227 kA/m and a sedimentation ratio of 80%. The results indicate the magneto-rheological fluid based on amorphous micro-particles has better MR properties and sedimentation stability than that based on CI particles at lower field levels (0-200 kA/m). 展开更多

This paper presents a new electromagnetic functional material developed byelectron-less nickel deposition technique, with a single hollow micro-sphere as the core templateand a thin nickel layer as the shell. The micrograph taken by a scanning electron microscope showsthe microstructures of the materials in detail. Scattering parameters of the waveguide sample holderfilled with the materials have been obtained over X band. The electromagnetic parameters computedfrom the measured S parameters show that the material with metallic hollow spheres has as highrelative permeability μ'_r as 19.0 with about 0.6 magnetic loss tangent over the whole bandwidth.Compared to the material with non-metallic spheres, the permeability μ'_r and the magnetic losstangent μ'_r increase greatly, while the permittivity remains lower than 1.8. 展开更多

Ferrites having general formula Ni1-xZnxFe2O4 with x=0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, and 0.7 were prepared by wet chemical co-precipitation method. The structural and magnetic properties were studied by means of X-ray diffraction, magnetization, and AC susceptibility measurements. The X-ray analysis confirmed the single-phase formation of the samples. The lattice parameter obtained from XRD data was found to increase with Zn content x. The cation distribution was studied by X-ray intensity ratio calculations. Magnetization results exhibit collinear ferrimagnetic structure for x≤0.4, and which changes to non-collinear for x〉0.4. Curie temperature TC obtained from AC susceptibility data decreases with increasing x. 展开更多

Siderite,as an abundant iron ore,has not been effectively utilized,with a low utilization rate.In this study,the in-situ kinetics and mechanism of siderite during suspension magnetization roasting(SMR)were investigated to improve the selective conversion of siderite to magnetite and CO,enriching the theoretical system of green SMR using siderite as a reductant.According to the gas products analyses,the peak value of the reaction rate increased with increasing temperature,and its curves presented the feature of an early peak and long tail.The mechanism function of the siderite pyrolysis was the contraction sphere model(R_(3)):f(α)=3(1−α)2/3;E_(α)was 46.4653 kJ/mol;A was 0.5938 s^(−1);the kinetics equation was k=0.5938exp[−46.4653/(RT)].The in-situ HT-XRD results indicated that siderite was converted into magnetite and wüstite that exhibited a good crystallinity in SMR under a N_(2) atmosphere.At 620℃,the saturation magnetization(M_(s)),remanence magnetization(Mr),and coercivity(Hc)of the product peaked at 53.63×10^(-3)A·m^(2)/g,10.23×10^(-3)A·m^(2)/g,and 12.40×10^(3)A/m,respectively.Meanwhile,the initial particles with a smooth surface were transformed into particles with a porous and loose structure in the roasting process,which would contribute to reducing the grinding cost. 展开更多

In order to investigate the regularity of metal magnetic signals of ferromagnetic materials under the effect of applied load, the static tensile test of Q235 steel and 18CrNiWA steel plate specimens were conducted and metal magnetic memory signals of specimens were measured during the test process. The influencing factors of metal magnetic memory signals and the relationship between axial applied load and signals were analyzed. The fracture and microstructure of the specimens were observed. The results show that the magnetic signals corresponding to the measured points change linearly approximately with increasing axial load. The microstructure of Q235 steel is ferrite and perlite, whereas that of 18CrNiWA steel is bainite and low-carbon martensite. The fracture of these two kinds of specimens is ductile rupture; carbon content of specimen materials and dislocation glide give much contribution to the characteristics of magnetic curves. 展开更多

The 1050 aluminum alloy strip was prepared by means of electromagnetic and ultrasonic cast rolling on the modified asymmetric twin roll caster, and then the aluminum substrate for presensitized plate was prepared through cold rolling and annealing.The effects of electromagnetic and ultrasonic cast rolling on microstructure, mechanical properties, surface roughness and electrolytic corrosion properties of 1050 aluminum substrate were studied. The results show that electromagnetic and ultrasonic cast rolling can decrease the average crystallite size of aluminum substrate by 5 μm, increase the crystal boundaries with uniform distribution, and make the second-phase particles with smaller size distributed dispersively in the substrate, meanwhile, it can increase the tensile strength, elongation and micro-hardness by 4.58%, 9.85% and HV 2, respectively, reduce the surface roughness, make the surface appearance more even, electrolytic corrosion polarization curve of aluminum substrate more smooth and the surface corrosion pits with regular shape more dispersive. 展开更多

Nanometer Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 powders with spinel phase were prepared by the hydrothermal method using purified FeSO4 solution from sodium jarosite's slag as materials. The results show that the spinel phase of Ni0.5Zn0.... Nanometer Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 powders with spinel phase were prepared by the hydrothermal method using purified FeSO4 solution from sodium jarosite's slag as materials. The results show that the spinel phase of Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 powders begins to form at a relatively low temperature (130 ℃) and a shorter holding time (1 h) when pH=8. The crystallization kinetics equation at 200℃ is ln[-ln(1-x)] =-0.78+0.951n t. The growth activation energy of Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 grains is 41.6 kJ/moL in hydrothermal synthesis process. With the increase of sintering temperature, the density and diameter shrinkage of ferrite circulus increase, whereas its pores decrease. The results of magnetic measurements show that saturation magnetic flux density Bs increases and the coercivity Hc decreases with the increase of their sintering temperature. Magnetic parameters of all the investigated samples satisfy the character demand of high Bs, low Br and low Hc of soft magnetic ferrite materials. 展开更多

Microstructures of laminates produced by epoxy/carbon fibers with different fiber volume fraction were studied by analyzing the composite cross-sections.The main result of the compaction of reinforcement is the flatting of bundle shape,the reducing of gap and the embedment of bundles among each layer.The void content outside the bundle decreased sharply during the compaction until it is less than that inside the bundle when the fiber volume fraction is over 60%.The resin flow velocity in the fiber tow is 102-104 times greater than the flow velocity out the fiber tow no matter the capillary pressure is taken into account or not. 展开更多

Co5 Sm/Cr bilayer films were deposited on Si and glass slides by means of a Direct-Current (DC) magnetron sputtering system with substrate heating. Magnetic properties measurements show that the sample with glass substrate has a comparatively large coercivity (He = 2 141.20e) with a rela- tively low optimal temperature ( Ts =350 ℃ ). X-ray diffraction patterns indicate that Cr presents a hexagonal-close-packed (hcp) texture on Si, while a body-centered-cubic (bcc) struc- ture on glass substrate, which leads to Cos Sm films having dif- ferent lattice constants on Si and glass substrates. At their opti- mal temperature, the grain size of the sample on glass slide is smaller with its size distribution more uniform. Concurrently, the shape of magnetic domain is more regular and ordered. The value of magnetic switching volume ( V ) for the film on glass is 1.65×10-18 cm3 , smaller than that for films on Si. For the film on glass, the magnetization reversal mechanism is mainly influenced by magnetocrystalline anisotropy, the shape of the crystal grain and the stress in the film. 展开更多

Al-doped ZnO(AZO)thin films were deposited on glass substrates by rf-sputtering at room temperature.The effects of substrate rotation speed(ωS)on the morphological,structural,optical and electrical properties were investigated.SEM transversal images show that the substrate rotation produces dense columnar structures which were found to be better defined under substrate rotation.AFM images show that the surface particles of the samples formed under substrate rotation are smaller and denser than those of a stationary one,leading to smaller grain sizes.XRD results show that all films have hexagonal wurtzite structure and preferred c-axis orientation with a tensile stress along the c-axis.The average optical transmittance was above90%in UV-Vis region.The lowest resistivity value(8.5×10?3Ω·cm)was achieved atωS=0r/min,with a carrier concentration of1.8×1020cm?3,and a Hall mobility of4.19cm2/(V·s).For all other samples,the substrate rotation induced changes in the carrier concentration and Hall mobility which resulted in the increasing of electrical resistivity.These results indicate that the morphology,structure,optical and electrical properties of the AZO thin films are strongly affected by the substrate rotation speed. 展开更多

Nanostructured Fe70Si20Cr10 alloy was produced by high energy planetary ball milling, starting from elemental powders. The structural, microstructural and magnetic properties of the milled powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, vibrating sample magnetometer and 57Fe M6ssbauer. After 5 h of milling, it is observed the formation of a bcc solid solutions ~t-Fe (Si, Cr). Its grain size decreases with increasing milling time attaining 20 nm after 15 h of milling time. Analysis of M6ssbauer spectra shows an increasing broad magnetic component when the milling time increases. Its mean hyperfme field is about 25.5 T at 15 h of milling. M-H hysteresis loop curves reveal a room temperature ferromagnetic behaviour with a saturation magnetisation reaching 143 emu/g after 15 hours of milling, which is 20% lower than that of bulk iron; i.e., 1800 emu/g, due to effect of alloying elements after the formation of ct-Fe (Si, Cr) solid solution. 展开更多

(Fe_(73)Ga_(27−x)Al_(x))_(99.8)Tb_(0.2)(x=0,1,2,3,4,5)alloys were prepared by vacuum arc furnace to investigate the effect of Al addition on the microstructure,magnetic properties,and mechanical properties of alloys.Results show that the phase structure of the alloys is still A2 phase and Tb_(2)Fe_(17) phase,and the metallographic structure is composed of cellular crystal and columnar dendrite.The decrease in lattice constant,the intensification of(100)orientation,and the generation of Tb_(2)Fe_(17) phase at the grain boundary exert significant effect on the magnetostrictive properties.The fracture morphology of the alloys is intergranular brittle fracture and cleavage fracture,and the causes of fracture occurrence include the segregation of Tb and Al elements.The parallel magnetostrictive strain(λ_(∥))of(Fe_(73)Ga_(24)Al_(3))_(99.8)Tb_(0.2)alloy peaks at 1.04×10^(−4).It is worth noting that compared with those of(Fe_(73)Ga_(27))_(99.8)Tb_(0.2)alloy,theλ_(∥)and elongation of(Fe_(73)Ga_(26)Al_(1))_(99.8)Tb_(0.2)alloy increase by 18.3%and 53.4%,respectively.Besides,(Fe_(73)Ga_(26)Al_(1))_(99.8)Tb_(0.2)alloy possesses the characteristics of high saturation magnetization(Ms),low remanent magnetization(M_(r)),and coercivity(H_(c)),which is beneficial to reduce the cost in actual production,but its tensile strength and Vickers hardness decrease to a certain extent.Therefore,the investigation on the micro-mechanism of Al addition on Fe-Ga alloys is of great significance for the development of Fe-Ga alloy devices. 展开更多

CoPt-TiO2 nanocomposite films were synthesized by rapid thermal annealing of CoPt/TiO2 multilayers.The effects of TiO2 volume fraction on the microstructure and magnetic properties of the nanocomposite films were studied.Results showed that the ordering and texture of the L10-CoPt particles did not change with TiO2 content up to 76 vol.% of TiO2.However,the volume of the L10-CoPt particles in the film decreased with an increase in TiO2 content.Increasing TiO2 content effectively reduced the coalescence of magnetic grains when TiO2 content was larger than 56 vol.%.Both the out-of-plane coercivity and remanence ratio of the film decreased slightly with TiO2 content,but the in-plane coercivity and remanence ratio of the film decreased firstly and then increased after TiO2 content was larger than 56 vol.%.The reduction in the coercivity of the film should be due to the reduction in the size of the L10-CoPt particles.The reduction in remanence ratio might be due to the weakening of the exchange coupling strength between the magnetic grains when TiO2 content was increased,as indicated by the MFM images. 展开更多

Magnetic yolk-shell structured anatase-based microspheres were fabricated through successive and facile sol-gel coating on magnetite particles, followed by annealing treatments. Upon loading with gold nanoparticles, the obtained functional magnetic microspheres as heterogeneous catalysts showed superior performance in catalyzing the epoxidation of styrene with extraordinary high conversion (89.5%) and selectivity (90.8%) towards styrene oxide. It is believed that the construction process of these fascinating materials features many implications for creating other functional nanocomposites. 展开更多

In this review,we review the progress of research on ZnO-and In2O3-based diluted magnetic oxides(DMOs).Firstly,we present the preparation and characterization of DMOs.The former includes the preparation methods and conditions,and the latter includes the characterization techniques for measuring microstructures.Secondly,we introduce the magnetic and transport properties of DMOs,as well as the relationship between them.Thirdly,the origin and mechanism of the ferromagnetism are discussed.Fourthly,we introduce other related work,including computational work and pertinent heterogeneous structures,such as multilayers and magnetic tunnel junctions.Finally,we provide an overview and outlook for DMOs. 展开更多
