Magnetism parameters vary with the position and the speed of electromagnetic actuator's motion parts.The measurement unit presented in the paper can be applied to get the position and the speed feedback information from the measurement of electromagnetism parameters,and can constitute the untouched feedback sensing unit in the closed-loop motion control,and it adapts to the diversified feedback control of electromagnetic actuator.The digital miniaturization meter,based on MSP430 single chip processor,which can do the multi-purpose measurement of Φ & B through the menu selection,can be used for the electromagnetic actuator's performance evaluation and improvement,and also the online quality control in production process.Both real-time data graph and data table can be displayed in the meter.The paper presents the system's structure,describes the principle,discusses the working modes,and shows the software flowchart and the measuring results. 展开更多

This letter proposes a novel design of a Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) device featuring a metal grating vibratory mierostructure driven by electrostatic force to sense the spatial electric field. Due to the advantages in slide-film damping and large vibration amplitude, such a device makes atmospheric packaging a low-cost option for practical manufacture. In this letter, we present the operating principles and specifications, the design structure, as well as the finite element simulation. Computational analysis shows that our design obtains good results in device parameters setting, while its simplicity and low-cost features make it an attractive solution for applications. 展开更多

Influence of DSP controller on performance of a permanent magnet brushless AC drive in flux-weakening mode

The flux-weakening performance of a permanent magnet brushless AC drive was investigated using both floating-point and fixed-point DSP controllers. A significant current oscillation was observed when the drive was operated at high-speed in the flux-weakening mode with the fixed-point DSP. The investigation showed that this was due to the on-line compensation of the winding resistance voltage drop and quantisation errors associated with the fixed-point architecture of the DSP. A simple look-up table scheme is proposed to eliminate the oscillation and to achieve extended flux-weakening capability. 展开更多

ELF (extremely low frequency) magnetic fields from power-line current influence the yield of CMOS foundry. ELF (extremely low frequency) magnetic fields from power-line current influence the yield of CMOS foundry. The poor yield happens because of ELF magnetic fields inducing directly the measurement or process equipment for cutting-edge chips below 28 nm process. The equipments of electron microscopes, including SEM (scanning electron microscope), TEM (transmission electron microscopy), STEM (scanning transmission electron microscopy) and EBLS (electron beam lithography system) are very susceptible to ELF magnetic fields emanating from various electrical power sources outside of the building and within next generation CMOS foundry recommends a maximum of 0.3 mG. The active canceling method uses active coils with current sensing field via sensor and inducing man-made electromagnetic field to reduce the stray magnetic field. Unfortunately, the conventional system takes more time to products field because of parasitical capacitance and resistance in long coil. The longer canceling coil the system construct, the more time it takes. Besides, canceling system should spend more time on calibrating non-linear current amplifier through software design. This research designs simpler anti-electro-magnetic system instead of typical frame and develops one turn canceling coil structure to reduce delaying time. Several parallel cells generate field up to 23.81 mG controlled by MPU (micro processor unit). This system decreases the power-line inducing filed below 0.3 mG. 展开更多

Steel structures are widely used in railway infrastructures.Their stress state is the most important determinant of the safety of these structures.The elasto-magnetic (EM) sensor is the most promising for stress monitoring of in-service steel structures.Nevertheless,the necessity of magnetic excitation to saturation due to the use of a secondary coil for signal detection,keeps from its engineering application.In this paper,a smart elasto-magneto-electric (EME) sensor using magneto-electric (ME) sensing units to take the place of the secondary coil has been exploited for the first time.The ME sensing unit is made of ME laminated composites,which has an ultrahigh ME voltage coefficient and can measure the magnetic induction simply and precisely.Theoretical analysis and characterization experiments firstly conducted on the ME laminated composites showed that the ME sensing units can be applied in the EM sensor for improved performance in stress monitoring.A tension test of a steel bar was carried out to characterize our smart EME sensor and the results showed high accuracy and sensitivity.The present smart EME sensor is a promising tool for stress monitoring of steel structures in railway and other civil infrastructures. 展开更多
