The electromagnetic emission(EME) induced from the rock containing piezoelectric materials was investigated under both static stress and exploding stress wave in the view of piezoelectric effect. The results show that the intensity of the EME induced from the rock under static stress increases with increasing stress level and loading rate; the relationship between the amplitude of the EME from the rock under different modes of stress wave and elastic parameters and propagation distance was presented. The intensity of the EME relates not only to the strength and elastic moduli of rock masses,but also to the initial damage of the rock. The intensity of EME induced by stress wave reaches the highest at the explosion-center and attenuates with the propagation distance. The intensity of EME increases with increasing the elastic modulus and decreases with increasing initial damage. The results are in good agreement with the experimental results. 展开更多

In this study,the characteristics of Electromagnetic(EM) radiation caused by Electrostatic Discharges(ESDs) from metal spheres charged to voltages less than 1 kV are examined experimentally.Our experimental system consists of a pair of spherical electrodes of different diameters,a 1-18 GHz-bandwidth horn antenna and a 20-GHz-bandwidth digitizing oscilloscope.Polarization,waveform duration and peaks of antenna-received voltages from the EM field radiation are measured in order to clarify the EM radiation mechanism.The ratio of the received voltages between the antenna arrangements of the field polarization parallel and perpendicular to the spark pass is 18 to 20 dB.The polarities of the antenna-received voltages are the same as those of the charge voltages across the gap.Moreover,the waveform duration and the first peaks increase with an increase in the diameters of the spherical electrodes.Consequently,we find that the polarization,waveform duration and first peaks of the EM field radiation can be explained by a dipole antenna structure,which makes the spark part of the spherical electrodes a feeding point on the straight line passing through the centres of the two spheres. 展开更多

Transient electromagnetic method(TEM)has been widely used in the field of medium and shallow underground detection due to its high detection efficiency and large detection depth.However,due to the long turn-off time of the transmitting current caused by the inductive characteristics of the transmitting coil,the early signals will be overwhelmed by primary field.Since the early signals contain most of shallow geological signals,it is necessary to reduce the long turn-off time to get shallow layer signal.Due to lack of a reliable and effective clamping method for high-power transmission at present,we design a TEM transmitter fast turn-off circuit,combining self-resonant zero-voltage switching technology with the corresponding timing control circuit to solve this problem effectively.A transient electromagnetic transmitter based on self-resonant constant voltage clamping technology was fabricated to charge the clamping capacitor.The rated transmitting current of the transmitter is 20 A,and the turn-off time is continuously adjustable from 550-50μs.Moreover,the current drop process is approximately linear rather than exponential attenuation.Compared with the existing clamping methods,the proposed clamping method solves the problems that transient voltage suppressor(TVS)clamping cannot be used in high-power occasions and has a high failure rate.It also solves the problem of long pre-charge time in traditional capacitor clamping methods due to insufficient inductance of the small size transmitting coil.The proposed method can provide a reference for fast shutdown of large current. 展开更多

We choose the TMS320LF2407A as the control chip and stepper motor as the executing agency. The equipment controls the movable contact reaching to the assigned position on the magnetic coil quickly and accurately, and outputs the sine-wave voltage steadily along with the network voltage variation though the fuzzy Porportional Integral Derivative(PID) control algorithm of integral separation and incremental mode with setting dead area. The principle of work and the key technique on the electromagnetic regulation and control are introduced in detail in this paper. A method of feedforward compensation for electromotive force(EMF) in the single-phase permanent magnet linear generation system and a research in the performance of the single-phase PMLG system are presented.A general mathematical model for the single-phase permanet magnet linear generator(PMLG) system is established and the current loop,voltage loop and the feedforward control are studied based on it for the control system.Then this paper analyses the transfer function of the power system,optimizes current loop and voltage loop parameters by engineering algorithm,and calculates the optimal control parameters.An EMF feedforward compensation method is developed to optimize the control system which improves dynamic performance of the power system but does not affect the steady-state performance.The result of this research verifies the correctness and rationality of the design for the control system. 展开更多

Various regulations, aimed at the protection of human beings and electrical equipment against possible adverse effects resulting from exposure to electromagnetic fields, have been issued in many countries. Most of them are based on safety guidelines published by international expert groups. In this paper, electric and magnetic fields are calculated in the vicinity of 25 kV traction line supplying railway traction systems. Calculation results are compared to exposure limits specified by safety guidelines and regulations. Possible countermeasures for reduction of electromagnetic fields are proposed. Also, this paper presents a method for calculation of the induced voltages to an underground gas pipeline from a neighbouring 25 kV electric traction overhead line in case of short circuit. Calculations are performed with EMTP-ATP software. Possible countermeasures for reduction of induced voltages are proposed. 展开更多

This paper compares the estimated electromagnetic forces due to short circuits in power transformers using two computational models. The first model is based on approximate analytical expressions of the electromagnetic lbrces as they have been compiled in earlier versions of the IEC standard 60076-5. The second model is based on a finite element model of the transformer using the software FEMM (Finite Element Method Magnetics). The paper shows how valid the analytical model is for design purposes. Results have been obtained and compared from both models in a number of actual power distribution transformers. It is possible to conclude that the analytical formulation provides satisfactory results for the design of power transformers compared to detailed finite element models. A tool has been designed for this purpose and the main features of it will be described in the paper. 展开更多

Variable speed pumped storage machines are used extensively in wind power plant and pumped storage power plant. This paper presents direct torque and flux control(DTFC) of a variable speed pumped storage power plant(VSPSP). By this method both torque and flux have been applied to control the VSPSP. The comparison between VSPSP's control strategies is studied. At the first, a wind turbine with the capacity 2.2 k W and DTFC control strategies simulated then a 250 MW VSPSP is simulated with all of its parts(including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and its control system) by MATLAB software. In all of simulations, both converters including two-level voltage source converter(2LVSC) and three-level voltage source converter(3LVSC) are applied. The results of applying 2LVSC and 3LVSC are the rapid dynamic responses with better efficiency, reducing the total harmonic distortion(THD) and ripple of rotor torque and flux. 展开更多

The reliability of electric supply to consumers is one of the most important factors that determine the requirements imposed on modem utility companies. This paper presents the results of investigation by computer software of the overvoltages resulting from a ferroresonance conditions in MV networks at open phase operating condition with and without connection to earth on source and load sides of distribution transformer. This overvoltage may reach 4.2 pu on one of the HV side of transformer unswitched phases. The results of the study show that ferroresonance overvoltage may be controlled by replacing fuses with circuit breakers on HV side to ensure switching-off all phases. Insertion of resistor or reactor in the neutral of source and loadsides of the transformer with 5% active load will help in suppressing overvoltages. 展开更多

This paper analyzes the effects of the voltage across insulator of 69 kV and 24 kV lines installed on the same pole. The case studies illustrated the lightning strike to direct top pole and mid span of ground wire using the ATP-EMTP (Alternative Transient Program-Electromagnetic Transient Program). The results found that when lightning strike the voltage across the 69 kV line insulator at mid span is 1.55 times and 1.34 times higher than at top pole when the front time is 0.25/100μs and 10/350 μs, respectively. When lightning strike the voltage across the 24 kV line at mid span is 1.04 times and 0.64 times higher than at top pole when the front time is 0.25/100μs and 10/350μs, respectively. So the effect of lightning strike is more severe at mid span than at the direct top pole, especially for the 69 kV insulator. 展开更多
