As an imported concept, China’s first community foundation named “community foundation” was established in 2009 as the Guangdong Qianhe Community Charity Foundation. With rapid economic development and continuous social changes, communities, as the “cells” of society, are playing an increasingly important role in social governance. Exploring the emergence and development of community foundations in China cannot be separated from the guidance of Marxist social subject research methods. This paper analyzes the interplay between the connotations of the Marxist social subject research method and the principles of Chinese community foundations. It also presents and interprets charitable activities in ancient, modern, and contemporary contexts. Using the Guangdong Qianhe Community Charity Foundation as a case study, this paper specifically analyzes its operating model, service content, and its integration with the Marxist social subject research method, thereby deriving some insights into the necessity and development of this method for Chinese community foundations.展开更多
