It was stated that processes happening in a society cannot be described using the approach of strict causality. However, dignifying life of the mankind is doubtful without elaborated scheme of social evolution and universal guiding line for the control over the further aociety evolution. General logica of social evolution can be traced by the change of human position in a society. Describing this change with the help of the activity-value approach one can construct ideal types of such evolutionary stages as wilderness, barbarism, civilization. The study of features and properties of ideal types of social evolution stages shows the regularity of two natural civilizations appearance: home-service civilization and market one. Countries of home-service civilization are ancient Egypt, China, and Russia (since Moscow Kingdom arose). Athens, Novgorod Republic and Western countries are examples of the market civilization. The study of the market civilization properties shows that its long existence is doubtful. Authors propose an ideal type of spirit-game civilization as a long-term guiding line for the controlled social evolution. Control over evolution could save mankind and solve their main problems.展开更多

Two studies were carried out in production systems and associated pig management practises. A participatory rural appraisal (PRA), involving 279 pigs-keeping households in nine villages and a cross sectional survey using a random sample of 300 pig farmers in 30 villages of the study districts, were used to collect data. Important economic activities were crop farming, livestock keeping, petty business, casual labour and artisan works in that order. The mean farm size and number of pigs per household was 2 ± 2.7 ha and 4.9 ±4.2 pigs, respectively. The largest categories of pig herd structure were breeding females followed by piglets. Age, marital status, household size and land size of household head had significant influence on the pig herd size (P 〈 0.05). Pig farmers practised three main types of pig management systems, namely, total confinement, semi confinement and free range/herding. Each system had specific management practices in relation to feeding and housing. The frequencies of these systems varied significantly (P 〈 0.01) by socio-economic factors, such as, educational status of household head, land size and herd sizes of pigs, goats and cattle. The authors recommend effective use of locally available resources and careful consideration of existing farming systems for sustainable development of smallholder pig production.展开更多

In 1954, Brown v. Board of Education fundamentally changed the education system in the United States and was a turning point in the evolution of U,S. democracy that made the beautiful American dream available for each individual. However, six decades later, the debate over educational inequality continues. People are still fighting for their equality and well-being. Along with dramatically influential political, economic, and social factors in the United States, educational inequality destroys the commitment of this democratic nation to offer equal opportunity, care, and social justice to younger members of the community. This paper discusses the current problem of educational inequality as it relates to racial and socioeconomic discrimination in urban schools. The aim of this study is to explore knowledge of inequality in the U.S. school system and to raise social and educational awareness to help American children to have equal chances in education and to achieve future success.展开更多

Based on the demographic characteristics, family relationships, social and economic factors and professional environment, such as in four dimensions, the article has reviewed the individual retirement decisions affecting factors and its mechanism of action, and summed up the consensus theory and some controversy. In future research, we need to strengthen the cross disciplines and integration, to explore more available research variables, provide a new starting point for further theoretical research and policy making.展开更多
