The book contains a wealth of national characteristic words and provides an important role in promoting the dissemination of Chinese minority cultures. Therefore, making an in-depth exploration of the translation of these national characteristic words in the English version is particularly crucial. Social semiotics is the study of the significance of symbols in social culture and context, beyond the pure language level, and translation is both a linguistic activity and a symbolic activity, which involves the mutual transformation between different languages. This article, based on social semiotics, analyzes the English translation of The Last Quarter of the Moon from the aspects of referential meaning, linguistic meaning, and pragmatic meaning, explores the transmission of the meaning of its national characteristic words and the selection of translation strategies, so as to provides reference and inspiration for the translation of texts related to national culture.展开更多
