The infrared absorption bands at 1?090,795,776,642,606?and 456?cm 1 have been observed in Mingxi sapphires.Compared to the sapphires from Shangdong,the 790 cm -1 band is split into 776 and 795?cm 1 bands and 1?161 cm ...The infrared absorption bands at 1?090,795,776,642,606?and 456?cm 1 have been observed in Mingxi sapphires.Compared to the sapphires from Shangdong,the 790 cm -1 band is split into 776 and 795?cm 1 bands and 1?161 cm 1 band exists in the Mingxi sapphires.The bands at 3?310,3?234 and 3?188 cm 1 are related to OH in the sapphires and their H contents have been estimated on the base of the absorption of the 3?310 cm 1 band.It is revealed that H content is higher in the blue sapphire than in the yellow sapphire from the variance of 3?310 cm -1 band.The theory of defect cluster put forth by Moon et al (1994)has been used to explain the attribution of the IR bands and their relation to the color of the Mingxi sapphires.展开更多
