By combining a number of different Lyapunov functionals with S-procedure, some useful criteria of global asymptotic stability and global exponential stability of the equilibrium points of SNNMs were derived. These stability conditions were formulated as linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). So global stability of the discrete-time BAM neural networks could be analyzed by using the stability results of the SNNMs. Compared to the existing stability analysis methods, the proposed approach is easy to implement, less conservative, and is applicable to other recurrent neural networks.展开更多

Both theproposed cage and ladder structures of SSO derived from similar sol-gel process of monomers are illustrated. Optimal error estimates are obtained for both the semi-discrete and fully discrete local discontinuous Galerkin (LDG) schemes with smooth solutions. In the fully discrete scheme, we couple the implicit-explicit (IMEX) time discretization with the LDG spatial diseretization, in order to allow larger time steps and to save computational cost. The main technical difficulty in the analysis is to treat the inter-element jump terms which arise from the discontinuous nature of the numerical method and the nonlinearity and coupling of the models. A simulation is also performed to validate the analysis.展开更多

Using the average dwell time approach together with the piecewise Lyapunov function technique, sufficient conditions are proposed to guarantee the exponential stability for the switched neural networks with random time-varying delays which are characterized by introducing a Bernoulli stochastic variable.Based on the derived H_∞ performance analysis results, the H_∞ filter design is formulated in terms of Linear Matrix Inequalities(LMIs). Finally, two numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design procedure.展开更多

Through analyzing the discrete-time model, we found that the epidemic threshold above which an epidemic can prevail and persist in a population is inversely proportional to 1 - h value. We also studied the continuous-time epidemic model and obtained a different result: the epidemic threshold does not depend on the immunization parameter h. Our results suggest that the difference between the discrete-time epidemic model and the continuous-time epidemic model exists in the high-risk immunization.展开更多

Service and vacation times are mutually independent and geometrically distributed. The server takes vacations when the system does not have any waiting jobs at a service completion epoch or a vacation completion epoch. The system is analyzed under the assumptions of late arrival system with delayed access and early arrival system. Using the supplementary variable and the imbedded Markov chain techniques, the authors obtain the queue-length distributions at pre-arrival, arbitrary and outside observer's ob- servation epochs for partial-batch rejection policy. The blocking probability of the first, an arbitrary- and the last-job in a batch have been discussed. The analysis of actual waiting-time distributions measured in slots of the first, an arbitrary- and the last-job in an accepted batch, and other performance measures along with some numerical results have also been investigated.展开更多

As a new method developed in recent years, the discrete time transfer matrix method of multibody system is highly efficient for multibody system dynamics. In this paper, taking a shipboard gun system as an example, by deducing some new transfer equations of elements, the discrete time transfer matrix method of multibody sys- tem is used to solve the dynamics problems of complex rigid-flexible coupling weapon systems successfully. This method does not need the global dynamic equations of system and has the low order of system matrix, high computational efficiency. The proposed method has advantages for dynamic design of complex weapon systems, and can be carried over straightforwardly to other complex mechanical systems.展开更多
