At present three kinds of material can be used to make geotubes: splitting film, fibrillated splitting film and multifilament. The geotubes made of these materials have their advantages and disadvantages. In engineering application to know the rule of forces change is very important. Based on geometry way, limit-filling height of geotubes is determined. Experiment in Pudong International Airport reflects that packing soil height of small-size geotubes will be smaller than that of large-size geotubes.展开更多

After MDCK cell culture, 57 Influenza A Pandemic (H1N1) viruses were isolated and submitted for whole genome sequencing. A total of 39 HA sequences, 52 NA sequences, 36 PB2 sequences, 31 PB1 sequences, 40 PA sequences, 48 NP sequences, 51 MP sequences and 36 NS sequences were obtained, including 20 whole genome sequences. Sequence comparison revealed they shared a high degree of homology (96%-99%) with known epidemic strains (A/Califomia/04/2009(H1N1). Phylogenetic analysis showed that although the sequences were highly conserved, they clustered into a small number of groups with only a few distinct strains. Site analysis revealed three substitutions at loop 220 (221-228) of the HA receptor binding site in the 39 HA sequences: A/Hubei/86/2009 PKVRDQEG→PKVRDQEA, A/Zhejiang/08/2009 PKVRDQEG→PKVRDQER, A/Hubei/75/2009 PKVRDQEG→PKVRDQGG, the A/Hubei/75/2009 was isolated from an acute case, while the other two were from patients with mild symptoms. Other key sites such as 119, 274, 292 and 294 amino acids of NA protein,627 of PB2 protein were conserved. Meanwhile, all the M2 protein sequences possessed the Ser32Asn mutation, suggesting that these viruses were resistant to adamantanes. Comparison of these sequences with other H1N1 viruses collected from the NCBI database provides insight into H1N1 transmission and circulation patterns.展开更多

The robot is composed of three pairs of wheels equally spaced circularly which are joined by six connecting boards to form a whole closed hexagonal body to clasp a cable. The whole design is entirely modular to enable to assenably the robot on-siteeasy eaoily. To analyze the static features of the robot, a mathematical model of climbing is deduced. Furthermore, taking a cable with a diameter of 80mm as an example, we calculate the design parameters of the robot. For safly landing in the case of electrical accident, a centrifugal speed regulator is proposed and applied to consume useless energy generated when the robot is slipping down along the cables. A simplified mathematical model of the landing mechanism is deduced. Finally, several experiments on the climbing mechanism demonstrate that the robot can carry payloads less than 2.2kg to climb up a cable with diameters varying from 65mm to 205mm.展开更多

This study ranked the soil orders in terms of potential inorganic carbon sequestration resulting from wet Ca2+ and Mg2+ deposition from 1994 to 2003 within the continental United States. The analysis revealed that average annual atmospheric wet deposition of Ca2+ and Mg2+ was the highest in the Central Midwest-Great Plains region, likely due to soil particle input from loess-derived soils. The soil orders receiving the highest total average annual atmospheric wet Ca2+ and Mg2+ deposition, expressed as potential inorganic carbon formation (barring losses from erosion and leaching), were: 1) Mollisols (1.1 × 10^8 kg C), 2) Alfisols (8.4 × 10^7 kg C), 3) Entisols (3.8 × 10^7 kg C), and 4) Aridisols (2.8 × 10^7 kg C). In terms of area-normalized result, the soil orders were ranked: 1) Histosols (73 kg C km-2), 2) Alfisols and Vertisols (64 kg C km-2), 3) Mollisols (62 kg C km-2), and 4) Spodosols (52 kg C kin-2). The results of this study provide an estimate of potential soil inorganic carbon sequestration as a result of atmospheric wet Ca2+ and Mg2+ deposition, and this information may be useful in assessing dynamic nature of soil inorganic carbon pools.展开更多

Around 110 articles related to ionospheric physics have been published during 2014–2015. In this annual national report of the Committee on Space Research(COSPAR), we will outline some recent progresses in ionospheric studies conducted by the Chinese mainland scientists in the past 2 years. These investigations cover(1) the ionosphere responses to geomagnetic activities;(2) ionospheric climatology and structures;(3) couplings between the ionosphere, plasmasphere and lower atmosphere, and possible seismic signatures in the ionosphere;(4) ionospheric irregularities and scintillation;(5) ionospheric models, data assimilation and simulations;(6) ionospheric dynamics and electrodynamics;(7) progresses in the observation methodology and technique; and(8) planetary ionospheres. Such investigations will strengthen our ability to monitor the ionosphere, provide a better understanding of the ionospheric states and the underlying fundamental processes, and improve the ionospheric modeling, forecasting, and related applications.展开更多

Concentrations of Na+ and Cl- decrease exponentially with distance from the coast to 100 km inland (i.e., 1500 m a.s.1.). Statistical results demonstrate that distance from the coast inland and elevation af-fect the concentration of sea-salt originated ions in inland areas significantly. Increase of Cl-/Na+ ratio and higher variability in its standard deviation suggest that there are other sources of ions in addition to sea-salt in inland areas of the Antarctic conti- nent. The concentrations of Na+ and Cl- from nine sampling sites in the Grove Mountain area are relatively higher than those from sites along CHINARE transect, although all sites are at similar distance inland. This phenomenon indicates that the barri- er effect of the mountain may be the most important factor influencing ion deposition. In addition, nss-SO42- and MSA vary differently, with nss-SO42- decreasing with distance more significantly. This implies that sources and transporting pathways influence the deposition of the two sulfur compounds considerably, being supported by the spatial pattern of correlation coeffi- cients between the nss-SO42- and MSA.展开更多
