Also some of the philosophers of science and their specific philosophical interests were expressed. Author considered some type of interactions between some disciplines to determine, to solve the philosophical/scientific problems and to define the possible solutions. The purposes of this article are: (i) to define new synthesis method, (ii) to define new perspective for the philosophy of science, (iii) to define relation between new philosophy perspective and philosophy of science, (iv) to define and organize name, number, relations, and correct structure between special science branches and philosophy of science, (v) to define necessary and sufficient number of branches for philosophy of science, (vi) to define and express the importance and place of new philosophy of science perspective in the new system, (vii) to extend the definition/limits of philosophy of science, (viii) to re-define meanings of some philosophical/scientific theories, (ix) to define systematic solution for the conflicts, problems, confusions about philosophy of science, sciences and branches of science, (x) to define new branches of science, (xi) to re-construct branches and hierarchy of science, (xii) to define new theories about science and branches of science. Author considered R-Synthesis as a method for the evaluation oftbe philosophy, philosophy of science, sciences and branches of science. This R-Synthesis includes evaluation of eight categories of general/specific perspective, 21-dimensions, and 12 general subjects (with related scope and contents) for the past 12,000 years. It is a kind of synthesis of science and non-science, physical science and non-physical science, religious science and non-religious science, and others. In this article, author defined 27 possible definitive/certain result cases for this new synthesis. Author defined the possible formation stages shortly to express new disciplines, new constructional and/or complementary theories. These theories are considered to define 21 major effective disciplines. New philosophy perspective is defined (R-Philosophy) shortly. New perspective and sub branches are defined for the philosophy of science. Major sciences are defined due to new basic philosophies. 42-basic components are defined for each science branch. New and/or re-constructed sciences, branches of science, basic sciences, and new hierarchy of science are defined with figure. Electromagnetic sciences, information sciences, and system sciences are defined specifically. Hybrid Sciences, New Era Science, and Ideal Scientific System are defined with general/specific figure. Relation between the some old branches and new branches of science was expressed generally due to new perspective of philosophy of science.展开更多

A new braided thin-walled biodegradable ureteral stent composed of PGA ( polyglycolic acid) and PLGA ( eopolymer of polylactic and polygiycolic acid) mnltifilaments was evaluated in v/tro in this study. In vitro degradation was performed in artificial urine with pH of 5.8 and the temperature of 37~C. The mass loss, mechanical properties, and morphology were observed at different degradaing time intervals of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 weeks. The stent had a thinner wail than those of other degradable stents and provided better mechanical properties. The braided thin-walled biodegradable ureteral stents began to degrade after 2 weeks. At the week of 5, the stents were fully degraded. The degradative process of stents is smooth and well controlled.展开更多

In the modern science and technology rapid development situation, study of ethics of science and technology is relatively backward. The times call for advanced and reasonable ethics of science-technology. Basic concepts and characteristics of ethics and morals are distinguished and defined in this paper. Three ethic essences of science-technology are abstracted from scientific-technological generation, application, and development. The three-dimension system of basic principles for scientific-technologic ethics is created, as illustrated by the portions given in this paper. The evolution formula of value system is derived, and used for appraising whether the science-technology activity is in all reason. Furthermore, it provides the theory base for quantified management. Finally, it is pointed out that morality and law should be supplemented each other in the science-technology management.展开更多

However, it is not unusual to realize the emphasis of scientific thought as rationally justifiable. Certainly, the dynamics of scientific thought throughout history has not been indifferent to other possibilities of epistemological construction. The aim of this paper is to answer, based on a new conception of metaphor, under what conditions metaphor can be a "physical metaphor" and the extent to which the symbolism in general brings a special light gain of sense to the understanding of physical reality that surrounds us.展开更多

The universe is unified in life and thought. The universal grand unified theory is a theory to completely unify all phenomena in the universe with a fundamental mode (structural mode, operational mode, generation mode and evolution mode). The book of changes of China: The great ultimate - two states - four images - eight hexagrams are life science and thought science theories, which represent the fundamental mode of universal unification, i.e. represent l) structural mode, operational mode, generation mode and evolution mode of life; 2) the four states that life has simultaneously: 0 dimension, ] dimension, 2 dimension, 3 dimension, and these four states have different structural and operational modes respectively; 3) the breathing and four seasonal trajectories of celestial bodies; 4) three generation modes of life: generation by transformation, generation by augmentation, and self-generation; 5) five dynamics systems inside life; 6) the sublimation and degration of life in the universe, the unification of religion and science; 7) the classification mode of the universal being; 8) the derivation mode of life; 9) the transformation between different forms of life in the universe; 10) the unification of six grand forces in the universe. All life systems in the universe: galaxy, organism, society, man-made worlds as well as cognitive science, natural science, social science are all in conform with the mode of the book of changes.展开更多

This paper argues that the case for multiple explanations is strengthened by the widespread failure of models in mathematical logic to be unique, i.e., categorical. Science is taken to require replicable and explicit public knowledge; this necessitates an unambiguous language for its transmission. Mathematics has been chosen as the vehicle to transmit scientific knowledge, both because of its "unreasonable effectiveness" and because of its unambiguous nature, hence the vogue of axiomatic systems. But mathematical logic tells us that axiomatic systems need not refer to uniquely defined real structures. Hence what is accepted as science may be only one of several possibilities.展开更多

I argue this is unavoidable for Kuhn given what he says about incommensurability and 1 investigate the consequences in relation to reflexivity, justification, and paradox for Kuhn's account of science. I want to do this on two levels, firstly looking at different possibilities for characterising individual paradigms. I will look at some examples from ancient and early modem astronomy as here it is clearest that paradigms can be characterised in different ways and that this has important consequences. I will argue in particular that Kuhn's characterisation of the paradigm for astronomy which emerges from antiquity (geocentrism) is favourable to his general account of the history of science, but that there is a very plausible and extremely damaging alternative. I argue that these differing characterisations generate differing, incommensurable taxonomies of the history of astronomy, with attendant "local holism," untranslatability of key terms and issues of theory choice. If so, Kuhn then has problems with generating an adequate decision making protocol for choosing between the two paradigm characterisations. That is problematic in itself, but I also argue this problem is systemic and affects the evidence needed for Kuhn to justify his general account of the history of science. I also want to investigate the implications of differing taxonomies of the history of science at a more abstract level. Kuhn's general theory of the history of science generates a taxonomy of the history of science, as do other theories such as those of Popper and of gradualism. If so, the incommensurability involved here, again with attendant "local holism," untranslatability of key terms and issues of theory choice, leads to issues of paradox and justification for Kuhn's general account of the history of science. With this broader understanding of taxonomic issues, some important Kuhn statements about scientific theories become self-referential, again generating problems of paradox and justification.展开更多

This clinical study was carried out on 84 clinical cases (61 goats and 23 calves) based on the history, clinical signs and physical examination along with common laboratory techniques at the Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University during January 2015-December 2016. Physical parameters like heart rate, respiratory rate, rectal temperature and dehydration status of animals were noted and corrected abnormality before surgery. Some cases had slightly higher haemoglobin (Hb), packed cell volume (PCV) and uric acid and epithelial casts in urine. The study revealed that abnormal calcium-phosphorus ratio was predisposing the animals to urolithiasis. It was found that young ruminants (3-5 months) were most commonly affected in both species. All affected animals were male in this study, in which calves were not castrated but in goats 95.08% animals were castrated. Rupture of bladder was more common in calves as compared to goats. Postoperatively all cases were administered with broad-spectrum antibiotic, anti-inflammatory agent and caliculolytic agents like ammonium chloride. Tube cystostomy with Foley’s catheter was the most satisfactory technique for the management of obstructive urolithiasis in small ruminants. Postoperative complications were recorded only in four animals and remaining 80 animals had a normal recovery from tube cystostomy. Tube cystostomy is a simple, inexpensive and very effective procedure for the treatment of urolithiasis in ruminants.展开更多

Critics charged Kuhn with an irrational and a relativistic position concerning theory choice, arguing he advocated a subjective instead of an objective approach to how scientists choose one theory over another and thereby undercut epistemic accounts for the generation of scientific knowledge. In response to critics Kuhn insisted that his approach, although subjective, was still rational in that the criteria----vomposed of epistemic values--determining theory choice operate both objectively and subjectively. Recent work in cognitive neuropsychology, particularly in the dual-process theory of cognition, supports Kuhn's notion of theory choice. In this paper, I initially discuss Kuhn's approach to theory choice, along with criticism of it and his response to the criticism, followed by an examination of the dual-process theory of cognition. I then explore the application of dual-process theory to Kuhn's notion of theory choice, especially in terms of a historical case study from the biomedical sciences. I finally discuss briefly the implications of the dual-process theory for contemporary philosophy of science.展开更多

Tube cystostomy is a simple, inexpensive and very effective procedure for the treatment of urolithiasis in ruminants.
文摘In the new century, quantum technology has developed rapidly and has been applied in many fields. As an important aspect of the aerospace science, metrology and measuring science is a field which is influenced by the quantum technology dramatically. The new generation of the International System of Units will be redefined on the basis of the quantum theory. More and more new sensing techniques are developed taking into account quantum principles. In this paper, the influence of quantum technology on metrology and measuring science is introduced.
文摘In The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, Kuhn claimed that theory choice is a conversion experience and depends upon the personality or psychology of the individual scientist making the choice. I finally discuss briefly the implications of the dual-process theory for contemporary philosophy of science.
文摘The role of the grammatical metaphor (GM) theory to systemic-functional linguistics (SFL) as well as to metaphor studies has been generally acknowledged. Based on the framework of GM theory in SFL, this thesis, by conducting a statistical analysis of the distribution of 13 types of GM in 20 English for science and technology (EST) texts which are chosen at random and aimed at different readers, is intended, on the one hand, to test and verify the applicability and feasibility of Halliday's grammatical metaphor theory as well as the correctness of Halliday-Martin's claim and on the other, to analyze the reasons for using GM, especially experiential GM substantially in EST texts.
