A new singularity extraction technique is presented to calculate accurately the singular integrals in Time Domain Electric Field Integral Equation (TDEFIE).In singularity extraction pro- cedure,through the aid of the first order Taylor series of time base function including time-retardation,the singularity of the integrand can be removed.The surface current density and backscattered far-field response of a conducting cube illuminated by a Gaussian plane wave is com- puted using the presented technique.Comparisons are made with the results obtained by the Inverse Discrete Fourier Transform (IDFT) of the frequency domain and the results obtained by using Ve- chinski's time averaging technique,which demonstrate that the presented method with this new time domain singularity extraction technique to solve TDEFIE is very accurate and stable. 展开更多

Both nominal and uncertain systems are investigated. New sufficient conditions in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs) are obtained. These criteria are simple owing to the use of an integral inequality. The model transformation approaches,bounding techniques for cross terms and slack matrices are all avoided in the derivation. Rigorous proof and numerical examples showed that the proposed criteria and those based on introducing slack matrices are equivalent. 展开更多

In this study,four sequencing batch reactors(SBR),with the sludge retention time(SRT)of 5,10,20 and 40 d,were used to treat domestic wastewater,and the effect of SRT on nitrite accumulation in the biological nitrogen removal SBR was investigated.The real-time control strategy based on online parameters,such as pH,dissolved oxygen(DO)and oxidation reduction potential(ORP),was used to regulate the nitrite accumulation in SBR. The model-based simulation and experimental results showed that with the increase of SRT,longer time was needed to achieve high level of nitritation.In addition,the nitrite accumulation rate(NAR)was higher when the SRT was relatively shorter during a 112-day operation.When the SRT was 5 d,the system was unstable with the mixed liquor suspended solids(MLSS)decreased day after day.When the SRT was 40 d,the nitrification process was significantly inhibited.SRT of 10 to 20 d was more suitable in this study.The real-time control strategy combined with SRT control in SBR is an effective method for biological nitrogen removal via nitrite from wastewater. 展开更多

In this research paper,we have presented variable area type capacitive sensor signal conditioning system for angular displacement measurement and for this purpose we have used timer LM555 based astable multivibrator and universal frequency to digital converter (UFDC). Due to variation in angular displacement in the variable area type capacitor which is connected in the timer based astable circuit,capacitance changes which in turn changes the time period of the timer circuit output. The time period of the timer output waveform is linear with the capacitance and hence linear with angular displacement. The timer output is further processed with UFDC for the measurement. The experimental results show that the time period is linear with the angular displacement in the range of 0- 180° and the uncertainty we should associate it with this average time period value is the standard deviation of the mean,often called the standard error (SE),which is ± 0.023 μs. Because of the simplicity,this measurement system can be used in both electronic and industrial instrumentation. 展开更多

It has been proved to have advantages in some parameter estimation issues over conventional modulation schemes. In this paper, a novel transform termed as Discrete Sinusoidal Frequency Modulation transform(DSFMT) is proposed. Then, the DSFMT of SNCK signal is deduced and classified into three types, based on which, the time-bandwidth product is estimated by the proposed algorithm. Simulation results show that the noise has a signifi cant impact on the localization of the peak value and the time-bandwidth product can be estimated by using local ratio values when. 展开更多

A first principal modeling of the gasification of a char particle is performed using single step mechanism. The char particle is considered to be spherical in shape and only the physical and chemical properties can change in the radial direction. The carbon dioxide is used as the gasification agent that reacts with the char and form carbon monoxide. The presence of both solid and gaseous phase species makes the reaction heterogeneous. The char particle is considered with varying porosity that also allows the change in the surface area of the particle. A time invariant temperature and pressure profile is used at which the Arrhenius rate constant and diffusion is calculated. The mass conservation of model results in the form of two coupled partial differential and one ordinary differential equation. The equations are solved with a set of initial and boundary conditions using the bulk species concentration at the particle surface. A second order accurate central differencing scheme is used to discretize space while backward differencing is used to discretize time. Finally, the results are presented for the concentration distribution of CO and CO2 in radial direction with respect to time. It shows that, maximum concentration of CO is present at the center of the particle while the concentration gradient becomes higher near the particle surface. The nonlinear concentration trend due to the diffusion is effectively captured. The results show that, completed conversion of char depend upon the time provided for the reaction which can be reduced by decreasing the size of particle or increasing the reaction temperature. The sensitivity study of temperature and initial porosity also performed and showed that temperature has high impact on char conversion as compare to initial porosity. 展开更多

This paper focuses on the development of an efficient semi-analytical solution of chatter stability in milling based on the spectral method for integral equations. The time-periodic dynamics of the milling process taking the regenerative effect into account is formulated as a delayed differential equation with time-periodic coefficients, and then reformulated as a form of integral equation. On the basis of one tooth period being divided into a series of subintervals, the barycentric Lagrange interpolation polynomials are employed to approximate the state term and the delay term in the integral equation, respectively, while the Gaussian quadrature method is utilized to approximate the integral tenn. Thereafter, the Floquet transition matrix within the tooth period is constructed to predict the chatter stability according to Floquet theory. Experimental-validated one-degree-of-freedom and two-degree-of-freedom milling examples are used to verify the proposed algorithm, and compared with existing algorithms, it has the advantages of high rate of convergence and high computational efficiency. 展开更多
